I have received my £150 voucher from CEX today after my LG G3 was showing no sim issue & I left it for testing last week & today they offered me voucher without any hassle under 24 months warranty :nerd:

It's 2 years back that they had that issue. Don't see anyone mentioning the S8 or Note 8 could blow up...

No. LG G6 is way better than the S7. G6 is a 2017 flagship phone with top specs and a better camera than the S8 never mind the S7, I'd rather have a G6 than the S8. LG interface is far superior to Samsungs gimmicky touch wizz and that bigsby crap or whatever it is..

Am using a G4 now and it's still fine fingers crossed. One of the last great phones with removable battery. I love never having to plug the phone into the wall just being able to swap the battery, put the dead one on charge and being good to go for another day.

Not so easy to forget for the people caught up in the LG 4 fiasco including me. LG's customer service was non existent for many of us. Unanswered emails, promises for call backs that never happened etc. Spent weeks getting nowhere. You don't forget that in a hurry. At least Samsung did the decent thing once the battery problem was identified.
Having said that, if i was in the market for a phone i'd be very tempted by this deal. Mind you i'd advise give the phone a good clean before using it as there is a fair chance the previous owner will have used it while on bog duty!

Quick comment about the OP's claim re HDR Netflix.. Netflix must enable the Dolby HDR 10 on specific devices before you can take advantage. As far as I know they have not added the G6 to the list.
Seems a good deal. Can you purchase online? Not used CEX website before.
Also how does trade in work - would I need to take my current phone to store and get a voucher from there for the value?
Plumbz
9 Oct 17#13
You can buy online yes and get it sent to your home address. If you trade-in your current phone instore and get a voucher, you can use this voucher instore OR online :sunglasses: I believe you can also send stuff to them for trade in if you don't have a store nearby.

Thanks for the help - thought that was the case - but wasn't 100% sure. Have an old LG G2 I may be able to trade in.
I have a G5 at the moment and literally just won an auction for a Galaxy S8 last night! Having second thoughts now after seeing this deal!

Your not dealing with LG, your dealing with CeX. As there warranty is 2 years, for the money, it may be worth taking the plunge.

Manufacturers who use unlocking boot loaders as a get out for rubbish hardware .... Shows how much faith they have in the quality of the products!
Lenovo suck for this! I'd avoid them where possible now.

9 Oct 17#18
Sony do that as well, but I am talking about network unlocking. Bootloader unlocking voiding warranty is fair enough, there are too many people out there who think they know what they're doing when they don't (I am not saying you are one of them) - people who want to root/jailbreak to get 'free stuff' (seems to be the most common reason) and just follow a YouTube guide then brick their phone hoping the manufacturers will support them is what this is trying to prevent.
CeX explicitly void warranty on something as simple as network unlocking, which does not damage software.

WeBuy for cash £174.00, I'd love to buy a pristine lg g6 for that price. Who sells a pristinely condition lg g6 for that price? Why not sell on eBay, I guess this is easier, but still £175!

Oh also if your phone breaks, they'll give you the current price of the phone when you give back your faulty phone, not a full refund.

Actually if you dig into the page you linked it says:
Netflix is available in Dolby Vision on the Android phones below. Note: Devices must run the latest firmware for Dolby Vision playback to work properly.

Don't buy or sell used network locked phones. It's a very expensive mistake that will happen at some point
Many people will simply claim it as lost or stolen with their insurer, meaning they get a nice payday along with a brand new phone.
CeX phones are dirty.

Any idea how long LG will support this phone as far as upgrading the OS?

No Idea, They aren't the best with software updates. You will be lucky to get 2 or 3 updates a year. Some G4 users haven't seen an update since around June last year. (Was a bit of a joke when they announced they were dropping it from Monthly Security Patches) I read somewhere that said Oreo is coming to the G6 in November. Most of their phones have seen 2 Major Android release upgrades i believe, however the G4 is still waiting for Nougat outside of Korea.

In my experience, they first look to just swap your phone for an identical phone and grade before they want to talk about refunds. That's fine with me but may not be fine with others.

This is what is putting me off LG. I have the G3 but only a single major update to the OS, seems like a nice way to make you to upgrade :rage:

The biggest issue with Network locked phones is software updates. The Manufacturer may have done a decent job but the carrier can't be bothered releasing it for there users. Be really careful of phones that are unlocked, but used to be Network locked as this trap still exists.

As past LG flagships have sold a good few, they have always had developer support on XDA. If you learn how to root, Lineage OS can keep a LG flagship updated for many years to come. I've got an old 2013 LG Pad 8.3 and its running Android 7.1.2 like a champ. (Lineage 14.1,) That's 4 major OS updates.

You can install officla LG ROMS that will become "UK" version of the phone then, rather than O2/Three/Vodafone versions etc.

One of the big reasons I love my S4 so much  I also don't like the larger size of pretty much all newer phones :stuck_out_tongue: Waiting for sizes to [hopefully] start creeping down again (may not happen :disappointed: ) Also waiting to see what Samsung Galaxy X turns out to be like :sunglasses:

Yes, this is exactly what I've done before with LG. With other Manufacturers however, debranding a phone is much more tricky and can void warranties etc. (Huawei/Honor to name one.) Best to avoid branded phones in the first place IMO.

This or Huawei P10 for same price? Huawei P10 is arguably better spec'd I think other than the camera
