good price for this whiskey. its a much better tipple than the standard JD

Seriously though, it's been a while since I've had this. How is it compared to the standard stuff neat (or perhaps to other bourbon etc. brands)?

no way would i add coke to this. its too good for that imo. its a sipping whiskey and hands down a better drink that the original and the gentleman jack.
this is my own oppinion of course

I have had this with coke and even thought like others said it’s mwantbro be on its own it’s for me the best tasting whisky and coke I’ve had , it’s delicous indeed and once you have had this normal JD just won’t do. Anyway cheap cheap cheap as it’s usually £40-£42 just waiting for the JD rye to drop to a similar price

You'd be doing it a favour putting Coke in it... JB Black is a much better drink. Technically, JD isn't a Bourbon either, you'll get the purists back's up calling it that! :stuck_out_tongue:

I always thought it had to be made in Kentucky, but that's not actually true. Here's their explanation for whether it's a bourbon or not (it isn't) and why from their website:

"Jack Daniel's is not a bourbon - it's a Tennessee Whiskey. Jack Daniel's is dripped slowly - drop-by-drop - through ten feet of firmly packed charcoal (made from hard sugar maple) before going into new charred oak barrels for maturing. This special process gives Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey its rare smoothness. It's this extra step - charcoal mellowing – that makes Jack Daniel's a Tennessee Whiskey."

JD purposely don't mention how long they are in 'new charred oak barrels for maturing' as it's less than 3 years. Probably a few months to speed up production.

I've not had this, but a friend of mine said he stopped drinking regular JD after having this! I've nto had this one, but Gentleman jack is much niceer than regular JD, so I guess this is the next logical progression.

You couldn't get it in normal supermarkets before, but I saw it in Sainsbury's the other day (full price), before that only saw it in duty free.

A few of us did a blind taste off with this,the regular stuff and gentleman Jack. The single barrel won easily. The gentleman Jack was the loser by a mile. I was quite surprised.

Shame and, I thought mine didn't (a Tesco Extra) then noticed it inside it's box and with a shelf edge label that didn't indicate it was on offer - hoping that explained why they still had one left :smile:

Not seen it outside Extra stores before, but in a few I'm sure.

Not in Tescos near me. So delivery costs and charged for under £40 so turns out to £36... soon adds up. Cold from me.

I'm pretty sure alot of people would have voted cold as well. Are you that person who thinks only your opinion matters? Guess so. States "£30" which technically its not, delivery cost on top and a 'penalty' of £4 for under £40 which makes it £36... doesn't state £36, states £30 so information in post isn't valid.

You can get Rare Breed Wild Turkey at this price every so often on lighting deals , not to mention it's same price point as Knob Creek , Makers Mark and Woodford. Having tried and liked all of those can someone who has sampled this against them please give an opinion

Good stuff. I like Gentlemen Jack when it's on offer but this stuff is Christmas present worthy in my opinion. Don't confuse this or Gentlemen Jack with normal JD that is diabolical stuff and should only ever be used as a mixer.
