I’m on the fence about this, for the money it’s a great price and you’ll be fine playing games for this year. But in the near future A LOT will need upgrading like the RAM, PSU and probably the GPU.
Don't know anything about these things is that a good monitor? I've ordered the PC for my sons Xmas present and obviously need a monitor. Also does anyone know of any good deals on a mouse/keyboard etc? Tia

I would not jump on this offer just for a cheap deal. Although I have no experience with this HP line I would say their computers at this price point in general are not well made. Having said that, if I needed a desktop PC for a family member and maybe the kids wanted to be able to play games then this is great deal for that, because they are probably not going to be thinking about upgrading, and they won't find a cheaper deal that saves more than £50 without ending up in the old celeron go slow zone.....
But for anyone who wants to keep their PC running into the future, this isn't a good base:
Only has an i5 CPU RAM needs upgrading but all the slots are full Graphics card that is not much better than buy one of the previous generations cards for half the price Basic storage 1Tb HDD and 128Gb SSD is almost free these days Motherboard is basic and not good for future upgrading either PSU is surely not super efficient or powerful

Perhaps a stupid question but how well would this compare to a PS4 Pro? Take like for likes, Witcher 3, Fallout 4, Rocket League etc?

Probably similar, if not a bit better. I think a ps4 pro has a downclocked RX480, with performace similar to a RX470.

Nice deal and although not worth anywhere near the £1100 it is still a good price. I went for it and will most likely upgrade the PSU if it appears to be struggling.

My son was saying he wanted to build a gaming PC - I guess this would solve a lot of potential issues with my lack of knowledge.
I used to love my 970 but this main deal has a better CPU and a 128 GB SSD too.

RX 480 is roughly comparable to the 970 GTX, but with the RX 480 you get a slightly faster CPU and a 128GB SSD.
That said, I'm not as enthusiastic as others seem to be; it's only a 4GB RX480, so is only really worth ~£150. (though you can't actually buy it for that price in the current inflated market)
The 1070 deals were better value.

That the market is currently overvaluing GPUs? Erm, yes; value is always subjective.
For gaming, a 4GB RX 480 is worth ~£150. (Based upon the market price before the current mining bubble came into effect) For mining, a 4GB RX 480 is/was worth more. (~£220 if the market is to be believed!)
The current market price only shows the higher of the two demands, but if you look back to the market before the mining demand existed, you can see the baseline 'real value' price.

This system sports an Odense 2-k motherboard with H170 chipset. The main limiting factor with this chipset is that only 2 DIMM sockets mean if you want to upgrade the RAM you will have replace the existing sticks rather than just add more.
RX-480 seems to offer similar 1080p performance to the GTX 1060.

I believe this: drive.google.com/fil…iew is the PSU that comes with it. If so standard ATX PSU should fit in the case, however you might want to have a modular/semi modular PSU, depending on how much room do you actually get in the case.

Hopefuly this wont be like the Dells I have owned; customised BIO that wont let you upgrade, customised mobo that you cannot get the full specs for, custom sized PSU that you cannot upgrade... the list goes on.
Dont get me wrong, they are well specc'ed and put together, just a PITA a couple of years down the line.

I've had a Dell XPS 8300 for 6 years, all the parts are completely standard and upgradeable. Unless it's a unique form factor or something, Dell haven't used proprietary parts for years.

Not for one of the new Mixed Reality headsets - this spec will give you a great experience without any changes to the configuration IMO
Put it through a power consumption calculator I have built my own PC for VR using an RX 480 but with an AMD FX 9590 so mine is of course much more power hungry. Still think you will see some performance hit with that PSU at 300w.
I would think the load would be more around 400.

If you add up the price of the Graphics card, Motherboard, 300w Power supply, and CPU, then it is already over 500. So you get the TB HDD, 128GB SSD, RAM, case, DVD/RW, Windows 10 etc for free.
