HOW LONG do yu have to stay with them after you switch to one of their accounts. I joined Halifax at start of year, do most banking online etc but other banks also now have £100 offers etc to switch. MOST people wont notice a difference in banks if they use the internet/mobile apps etc unless you need to visit one and they have closed the local.

They haven't changed that date in ages....it annoys me as I literally changed to them 1 week before that cut off so I can't take advantage again! Nationwide was good though, we had a joint account and "recommended" each other for single current accounts and get £200 each as the "recommender" and the "recommendee" in both cases! (yes I know recommendee is not a real word)

Don't bother if you are genuinely switching... Look at the state of their overdraft fees!! Ludicrous!
And before I get lambasted... I know it's optional and I rarely use mine but the recent change of the fee process is disgusting.

Depends when you are looking to do so? Might drop you on Experian from 930 to 920 for example if you aren’t switching your main account. But within 3ish months you’ll be back to what you were prior to switching.

Switched lots of times. Affected my credit score and I still got a mortgage.
The real advice here is if YOU DONT ALREADY HAVE A MORTGAGE.
if you are re-mortgaging you should be fine.
Or additionally extending a product like myself.

I did this the last time it was £125 and it worked perfectly. Applied online and was accepted immediately, all wages, direct debits etc transferred over by the bank without any input from me and the £125 was in my new account before my old one had even shut down. Money for nothing! did have to set up standing orders again though

I switched to them earlier in the year when they were offering £75. Two weeks after i did they upped it to £125. Can't complain though as i needed to switch and got some free money.

Great deal my misses done the same thing and it was messed up online so reprocessed in branch and ended up getting £200 that's when it was only £100 to switch.Never had a problem with Halifax and customer service is always spot on.Dont use the over draft due to spending within my budget.In all easy to do and why not for a free £125

Ive been with them for donkeys years now and never had any problems apart from receiving texts relating to someone else for which I received a pleasant goodwill gesture. App is identical to Lloyds Bank if you've ever used that and I find it very easy to use. I have no wish to leave them even for a money incentive.

Phone app is spot on when I was with them, but their online security is bad, they have no login token generator, it is just passwords set by you to allow complete access to account, not just viewing balance. I was ID frauded when I was with halifax, and whilst they where not the root of the deception, when it finally did effect my account with them, a person in account security literally said to me “I don’t know what to do, you’re probably best closing your account”, which whilst good advice, he def. never had any protocols to deal with account breach, and really should have just changed my account number and sort code as I had asked. Honestly if u value your time, I wouldn’t bother with Halifax

Hold your horses. You're better off switching to HSBC Advance Account. If you haven't already, it's £150 and £50 at the end of your first year. It requires £1,750/month pay-in and 2DD or Standing Orders but you can pay in and take it out again. First Direct is also £125 with £1000/month pay in but no DD's required but they charge you £10/month if you don't pay in £1000/month after the first six months.

You can't switch a credit card. It has to be a current account. Anything going to your old account will automatically be redirected for 18 months. So you have 18 months to point everything to the new account

Done the switch this morning never switched after being barclays with years. Got my mortgage now so that's no worries and I don't use my overdraft ever these days, hate the things so should work out in my favour but I do see what Halifax are doing this money they will earn back
the house always wins but if you have everything in order it's a decent deal.

I've nothing but positive reviews of them... Good general banking, easy-to-use app, quickly and easily accessed the benefits of a Help to Buy:ISA, and they even waived the fee on a credit card that I paid a few days late.
I switched to Nationwide for the incentive, but would go back in a heartbeat if I could claim the £125 again.
As it happens, I can't, so I'm going to give FirstDirect a bash instead :grin:

How do you earn more than £3 for ANY 2 DDs? Some current accounts, such as Santander 123, pay cashback for certain DDs, such as utility bills and council tax etc. However they do not pay cashback for some DDs, such as tv licence, mortgage from other lenders, credit card etc. I would love to know if there are any ways to earn more than £3 per month for these DDs.

What are the rewards like? Any good? I'm currently with NatWest, and get decent a decent amount of monthly credit (as I earn on energy bills) which I can spend on things like Cinema tickets, Pizza Express, and some other rubbish things. Is it the same kind of think with Halifax? Recently switched my credit card balance to them, happy with them so far. Very friendly helpful staff in branch too in contrast with Natwest I must say who I find very conservative.

Rules are.sime you transfer your account to Halifax (but you after pass a credit check and either choose to open a Ultimate/Reward current account and never had an incentive paid by Halifax since Jan 2012) it is open to new and existing customers.

dont mind at all, I lost nothing monetary thankfully it was all nulled by having a crime reference number, but easily literally spent 8hrs+ on the phone, probably closer to 10, and a lot of stress whilst being chased for debts until police stuff was given recognition. I was screwed for a lot over space of 2.5wks

I have just opened the ultimate current account and moving from the nationwide Flexplus. In theory if I changed my gym membership& my contact lens direct debits to the new account and transfer £750 into my account and pay off let’s say my amex charge card I should only pay £12 right?
My main bank is HSBC and I’ve had them since I was 12 which is great for my credit history and hoping to be upgraded to the Advance after my graduates account expires next summer and don’t want my wages to go into any other account which is why I’m looking for a way to pay £12 not £15!

I switched 3 months ago, even the staff are swapping banks every 12 months to get the latest cash back. No problems with Halifax so far, I left NatWest who were useless for years.
