I bought a BRAND NEW one for the same price. Why buy second hand?

What's the major difference between this and the total clean, I have laminate all down stairs and carpets upstairs but don't know which one would be the better option? Any advice would be appreciated :smile:

i have ordered from a refurb from dyson and it came in retail packaging with all parts plastic wrapped etc. The warranty stated one year but when registered it gave me the full two years. Its a very good product worth every penny. Heat added!

What are the differences between all the V6 models?

From Animals, Fluffy, Flexy and Absolute etc???

I recently purchased a V8 Absolute brand new as I was led to believe that it was alot more powerful etc. and had a longer runtime. This is a lie by Dyson - it's only more powerful on the Max setting but much worse on the normal setting.

On reflection, if it wasn't for the bin emptying mechanism, I would have considered a V6. If you can live with the rubbish bin emptying on the V6, you're probably better off getting a V6. I find I have to use my V8 on the Max setting only, as the normal setting is so weak it's basically good for nothing. The V6 is better than the V7 and V8 on normal mode as the suction is more powerful. Dyson are really annoying - after buying my V8 and being shocked at how laughably weak the normal mode was, I couldn't understand how people could have been using the V6 with a weaker motor etc. I then discovered that they purposely weakened the normal mode motor suction on the V7 and V8 just to falsely market the machine as having a longer runtime and make it look like they are better machines - on normal mode, they are much worse. The V8 has a normal suction of only 22 AW, the V7 has a pitiful 21AW, yet the V6 has a more powerful 28AW suction rating... Pretty shocking considering the price difference and the fact the V8 is meant to be so much better.

The longer 40 min runtime on the V8 is also total BS as it's based on this weak setting that you won't use - basically, I find I have to use it on Max or not at all and if I get 7 mins out of a full charge I'm lucky - it doesn't run long enough to do one floor of my house and then takes 5 hours to charge (as opposed to 3.5 hours with the V6)... I'd rather have a more powerful normal mode with less runtime that I can actually use. When I think about it, they should have just put an analogue dial control for the motor power as it would have solved this problem and allowed people to get the best out of their machines. When they advertise their machines, they misleadingly quote the max suction of the machine alongside the runtime for the 'normal non-max' setting with no powered tools being used.

The soft roller head tool that came with mine though is very good and an absolute must IMO - there are pros and cons with all of the machines and no clear winner.

Battery went 1 week before the 2 year warranty and they sent a new battery.
Superb machine and dyson are a superb company.

Bought this exact one when it came back in stock a few days ago. Arrived quickly and was immaculate. If it's been used there is certainly no indication of that, and it's got a year warranty so heat from me.

We got the V6 Total Clean a few months ago (for £219 at the time) and I can highly recommend. While not absolutely perfect (the bin could be easier to empty properly, which they addressed in the V8 and the motorised roller sometimes stalls on long pile carpet or rugs), it's a fantastic machine overall. We previously had an upright Vax Air Cordless Lift Duo and the V6 is much lighter and just so much nicer to use. The design of the V6 encourages frequent quick cleans rather than one big whole house clean and I like that ethos. All in all, highly recommended. I love to hate Dyson and many of their products are over-priced and over-rated, but the V6 line is actually worth the money.

Dyson - the iPhone of vacuum cleaners. Lots of good kit out there at a fraction of the price. Why do you think there are so many 'refurbs'?

Do these have a lot more suction than the DC34 that's usually available for £99? I've got the DC34 and it's not fantastic - this looks a similar size.

Refurbished is refurbished fir a reason ... stop saying it "looks" brand new -- did you take it apart and check the motor ? It will look brand new if they cleaned it properly obviously

Comes in a black Dyson box propperly packaged up but as said does have refurbished written on it. The one I received looks brand new. Not a mark on any of the kit and everything was packaged up. Dyson have a no quibble return policy so if as above you get one in such bad condition just send it back for that reason.
