Wrong they are available to pick up at any French port for travel back to the UK, favorite ones now are La Havre or Dunkirk where local people are more than happy to help for their onward trip to what the travellers call Treasure Island

Thanks , will be booking myself, however worth noting that you can use their local number 01303 282061 to avoid the 7p a minute premium line.

Actually, they moved a lot of them to Dunkirk; which is a bummer, because Dunkirk is my preferred route; although I expect a lot drifted back to Calais.

This deal is a cheap and easy way of popping to Adinkerke in Belgium for tobacco (only 38 miles from the Eurotunnel terminal). Last year I saved £750 against UK prices just from buying one carrier bag full of tobacco pouches (approx 3kg).

Better idea is to stop smoking altogether and save yourself a lot more money plus less air pollution and reduce your risk of lung cancer and other smoking related diseases and less strain on the NHS.

7y 24d#19
Done both, the rolling tobacco run to Belgium and the quitting. As nice as a day out in Bruges was the quitting is a better option in every way - the savings are brilliant and the self satisfaction is priceless.

Strain on the NHS? Where are you getting your facts from - smokers are economically better for the country - are you assuming that those that live longer from not smoking don't use the NHS when they do croak in the extra 20 years or so of life? Also the tax revenue created and the lack of government support needed for those that die before retirement age? Get your facts straight before you spout nonsense
Woogass to samsimcox
7y 24d#34
Absolute rubbish, there's no way smokers are economically better for the country, a ludicrous thing to say, obviously read from the daily mail or telegraph!! Maybe if you only count lung cancer sufferers but the ripple effect on all health, not just cancer and inability to work makes smokers a blight on this country!
Itoreabolokov to Woogass
7y 24d#36
It is not absolute rubbish. The cost of one individual on the finances of the country vastly increases when you reach old age. The last two years of an over 70 female and an over 68 male cost more to the taxpayer than the rest of their lives combined. Drug abusers are also a huge burden in a much lower age bracket. You should not smoke because it stinks and is bad for your health, but then again so is self induced diabetes.
What are the prices like compared to here? I like Golden Virginia which costs about £12-£13 in London, is it any cheaper in Belgium?

Anyone ever done this for a holiday? TCs state that you have to do it on the same day as a round trip and if you dont turn up they will pursue you for the difference, you'd also have to make two bookings without them cancelling your return 'round trip' but if it works, legally I'm sure they don't have a leg to stand on?
MarzBarz to eligh3121
7y 24d#28
Would also like to know this.
kfs to eligh3121
7y 24d#32
Yes they will charge the full single fare for your outward journey against your card if you don't show for the return. As you write, in their T&Cs, if you breach these, they absolutely have the legal right to charge you. It used to be possible many years ago, but both tunnel and the ferry companies wised up to the fact that people were pulling this scam. They also stopped letting people pay by cash at the departure port for day returns. In these days of ANPR it's very easy for them to verify whether travellers have returned. Eurotunnel and ferry companies aren't mugs. Sorry to disappoint you, but my advice is don't try!
eligh3121 to kfs
7y 24d#35
Thanks for the info! obviously if you can't pay cash then it won't work.
I am not sure that the scam would be being played on my end, they are the ones charging 8 times as much for the exact same product - if anyone disagrees with this then the next time you attend a wedding don't forget to tell your hair stylist so they can charge you 5 times as much, you wouldn't want to be guilty of scamming them would you
luvsadealdealdeal to kfs
7y 24d#39
but you could easily get round this by using a prepaid Visa card - use up whatever is left before they can pursue you for the difference
without a card to charge, they're just going to forget about it
kfs to luvsadealdealdeal
7y 24d#40
Like it, hadn't thought of that one! I suppose in theory they will have your car reg details and could pursue you via DVLC to get your address, but, as you write, would they bother doing so? Is there a risk of their computer blacklisting registration numbers so that when you next roll up to the UK terminal they demand monies or refuse to let you travel? It might sound paranoid but computer databases make such things very easy if they are programmed into the system.
In the end, I'm not sure it's worth all the hassle - I usually use the ferry and the fare difference is not really enough to merit it. Is the fare difference using the tunnel greater?
If anyone is able to advise whether they've done this successfully we'd all love to know about it!
