You are going to fly through 1 gb of data with that phone. I assume 4G.

Bit of a generalisation. I only occasionally use cellular for data I've never used 500Mb.

I don’t get this comment. iPhones use no more data than Android, it entirely depends on what you are doing with it.
JamesSmith to gr1340
1 Oct 17 #13
I suspect the poster was commenting from the solipsistic POV.

ie. "I do this, therefore it applies to every other human being."
osrick to JamesSmith
1 Oct 17 #17
I wasn't actually. I was just thinking that you're more likely to use data up on a faster newer phone than on an older one because the browsing experience is quicker. Or at least that's what the bloke at the Apple store told me. I find that when out and about in London for instance that 4g data use is reasonably high.

Rickardo to osrick
1 Oct 17 #28
I only have 300mb with my iPhone - I have it set to 3G, not 4G, as I believe it uses more data and usually switch data off until needed as loads of Wi-Fi at home, at work etc.

No there is one for EE.. £14 after redemption and 6 months apple music free. Aren't EE a nightmare though?

How about e2save.. can anyone vouch for them are they reputable??

The next offer on O2 at £18 pm seems decent.

Well can I further add, they say you can send the invoices electronically also.

This might be safer than recorded post, if you get a receipt confirmation number, or email, or something.

Somebody here can maybe tell us...

Hot for me,have a sim only redemption deal with e2save at the moment and never had a problem with them and all I do is upload my phone bill to them and get my cashback cheques through the post, this deal is also on with mobiles.co.uk if you prefer them.
Also the £35 through quidco is a bonus obviously if they pay out but did with me for my sim only deal.

Never had a problem with EE, been with them 10 years for personal and 3 years business contracts.
blitzmmccv
1 Oct 17 #33
COLD. Only 1GB of data is rubbish nowadays you can use 1GB just watching youtube videos for a few hours. Also you don't want the 32GB version. I have a 32GB iPhone 7 and it's only got about 8GB left on it and it's got no music on it, approx 1500 pics and 100 apps nothing majorly big.
sug7 to blitzmmccv
1 Oct 17 #35
Just because it doesn’t suit your needs, doesn’t mean it won’t suit the low end users.
Sawb to blitzmmccv
2 Oct 17 #38
Such a strange comment, why is it so hard for people to understand that many of us depsite using a phone like this alot we dont use alot of mobile data, i personallly never watch long videos on my phone and never have the desire to. Plus nothing majorly big? this is all subjective. If the contract was 100mb allowance and a 8gb iphone your comments would be valid as these restrictions would almost certainly effect everyone

Hi, would I be able to download spotify on to this? I know nothing about phones but desperately need to replace an old nokia lumia and this deal is the same price but with more minutes than my virgin contract.I'm out of contract now and they can't offer me anything like this. Thanks

Well I've ordered now. The only thing I use my phone for apart from calls, lol is listening off line to spotify and pictures. I never go on the web,so hopefully it will be ok. I'll have to get it unlocked though as I use 3 feel at home when going abroad. Thanks OP.

onlinejomaibwork
2 Oct 17 #43
Rubbish Deal coz high chances that you forget to send bill and missed out on cashback, also unlimited min. nobody nowadays use, 1 GB is nowhere standard in 2017, you will get much better android handset for similar price
plewis00
2 Oct 17 #44
Well in fairness, it is pretty easy to get through 1GB of data. I’ve always been a light user and with no real change to my habits in the last few years I’ve gone from 1 to 3-4GB a month - I do blame background app usage and generally richer online content as well as utterly stupid things like Facebook auto buffering and playing videos on social media (for a more ‘seamless’ experience) - and I don’t really spend a lot of time on social media

That said if you generally go to places where WiFi is available like most cafes, work, home, etc. You may be absolutely fine.
plewis00
2 Oct 17 #45
Fine but you need to have had the phone for 6 months and up to date on payments. So don’t buy it as a cheap way to get an iPhone intending to use it on another network immediately
sug7
2 Oct 17 #46
That depends how organised you are, setting reminders on a calendar and sticking to them isn’t too difficult especially when it’s a substantial amount to miss out on. 1Gb isn’t a great deal, however as you can see from above, this is suitable for plenty of people. Some people prefer Apple, again, each to their own.
sug7
2 Oct 17 #47
You beat me too it, never had any issues with unlocking on EE, always been a straight forward process.
plewis00
2 Oct 17 #48
Yes, I’ve been impressed with EE. They’re not how I remember. I rung them the other day and they answered immediately with a call centre based in the UK with knowledgeable and efficient staff. Signal is better than my O2 phone and data speed really is crazily fast even with 1-2 bars, I almost wish my main phone was on EE - I will probably stick with them.

Bossworld
2 Oct 17 #54
Coming to the end of my 6S contract. Only use about 200 texts, 200 mins on average a month (although now working from home so would rather keep the unlimited minutes).

If I was to get this and sell the phone, how would the end cost compare to similar sim only tarriffs? I know I'd be locked in for 24 months.

Assuming the cashback comes off, £336 - say £200 for the phone works out as £136 or £5.67 per month. If I can stick to wifi at home and when I'm in the office, how does that stack up? Or am I completely wasting my time
mac5229james
2 Oct 17 #55
Personally, I think an o2 refresh deal is better as you can pair it with whatever usage deal you want.

However the 1gb data doesn't automatically make it a cold deal.

I have never watched you tube videos for a few hours unless i was at home or at a friends where there was wifi.
muckspreader1
2 Oct 17 #56
Wow people are crazy paying for an old phone like this with a screen that size and poor camera .
cossy3
2 Oct 17 #57
1. This is basically a smaller 6s, why bother?
2. This will go right down in price soon as the SE 2 gears up for release
3. Why bother getting a smartphone if you're not going to use data out and about? Seems pointless.

1) To re-sell, as mentioned.
2) Yep fair point.
3) Work has wi-fi which I can use to listen to Deezer while I work/sort notifications. Got Virgin 200MB broadband and therefore wi-fi at home for mindless browsing.

I don't tend to use more than 2GB of data in a month and I reckon I could get that down to 1GB - I get told off enough already for being glued to my phone. I drive rather than using public transport, so I've no need for 10s of GBs a month when my only use outside of home is checking football scores or Facebook/emails etc.
LadyEleanor

2 Oct 17 #69
It's not that old (newer than the 6s). It's a great sized phone, that fits in neatly in most pockets, fast, great battery and if I were to show you some pics I have taken with it, I doubt you would call them poor  . Not a phone for everyone, but it's been great for me (I have the 64gb, rooted)

My business is eCommerce, Reselling on eBay/Amazon and Selling new products on other platforms. So I have all the buy / selling apps. Then I have ebay sniping apps and dropshipping apps such shopify, aliexpress. gearbest etc. then apps like google athenticator, namecheap, currency, banking apps, dropbox / drive, then I've got the social media apps and use them alot for different advertising /networking etc I've got 3 facebook apps alone (Facebook, Facebook Ads and Pages) It soon mounts up. Without a smart phone I would be lost. I've managed to get it down to 84 :joy:
