Apologies if already posted but didn't come up using search function.
Ryzen 1600x on Amazon for £188.98 If you have PRIME membership which unfortunately I don't but I'm sure many out there have so seems a good deal for not much more than a regular 1600.
Wish I could warrant building a new PC/spending the money as this would be ideal... my i7 920 with GTX 770 is still going strong for what I'm currently using it for, but would start showing its age with more recent games.
Thinking about getting this. can anyone help.......
I have a AMD FX8150, Will this be a big improvement. Task mainly CAD works. odd game, always got plenty apps open etc.

Little reason to buy a CPU 3 days before Intel launches a major product lineup.

Seriously that statement is rubbish.. New cpu and you need a new mobo.. there is no upgrade route for exisiting 1151 owners

I don't think nate1492 was suggesting coffee lake as a direct purchase alternative, merely that the release of new products from Intel will likely further drive down Ryzen prices due to increased competition.
While most of the Coffee Lake range don't compete product-for-product with Ryzen, there is certainly an overlap in their potential customers, especially at the lower end.

i would avoid coffee lake products and probably any new intel products until they bring to market proper motherboards to the user ..

There are tons of motherboards being created by ASUS and MSI and other vendors. I'm not sure what you are getting at?
Also, yes, I was suggesting that the product release of the 8xxx range will drive all CPU prices down.

Actually just had another look doesn't say anything about it being prime exclusive anymore so guess should be available for everyone off amazon too
May be worth posting it as a deal mate as more people would be eligible to purchase from a buyer since this was a prime exclusive. Might just get one if I can convince myself need it.

In time the 1600x will end up the same price as the non-overclocked 1600 which comes with a cooler. As the 1600 can be overclocked to match the 1600x without issue.

... and the 1600x can be overclocked still higher. What's your point?

That's not how it works mate, they are the same chips, 1600x has higher clock out of box and has higher range for "core boost" which overclocks itself higher. But both chips can achieve same performance, one just comes with a cooler and cheaper price tag.

Complete rubbish; the entire Ryzen range (excl. R3) is binned according to stable cores & voltage requirements.

The 1600x will go about 100mhz above the 1600. If yr lucky then 200mhz That's all. That's why the 1600 is so popular. More or less the same performance for less money and a 'free cooler'.

I pretty much agree with what you say here, best case scenario you will get an extra 100MHz out of the 1600x - which is what some benchmarks have shown.
If you plan on buying an aftermarket cooler anyway then the extra £7 might be worth it for a chance of a slightly better OC.

I'm not starting a war but... the 1600x is slightly better silicon too. These are all the same chip, they are then binned according to how well they test. Considering the Ryzen is basically a SOC (everything is in the CPU, the motherboard is barely anything but the I/O required for the rest of the system, little real "chipset" on the boards) it's worth a little more for the x if you want to be able to push it harder with overclocks.
Edit: agreed it's not more than about 200mhz though.
Bought for my son about a month ago (from Christmas + B/day) at £225 + a cooler which was a stupid price bringing it to almost £300. M/B, 16Gb DDR4 RAM (3200; he would not have less!) really whacks the price up. New case as well.......
Thankfully the graphics card was up to scratch as was the power supply. Refused to buy an M2 SSD!

Oh nice deal. Thought it was the 1600 for a second. This will save the trouble of OCing but you want a good cooler.

When you have super high yields this happens...
1600 and 1600x = when 6c/12t becomes 8c/16t
