UPDATE: I've expired the deal as the code is no longer working but the 'normal' price at 12.53 is still the cheapest around and an approx 37 quid saving on a Philips Hue RGB bulb.
Use code 11nov122 to get them at this price.
Easily the cheapest price at the moment (though they have been cheaper a few weeks ago) for these excellent Alexa-compatible, 16 million colour smart bulbs. I have my house pretty much 'Yeelighted' up and they work brilliantly for a fraction of the cost of Philips Hue (plus they don't need a 'bridge' to work like Hue does).
Please note: E27 (screw) fitting only. Adapters are available very cheaply at several places should your fittings be bayonet.

Took a punt at the £12 mark. Will see how it does for our small human's room and go from there. Hopefully GU10 options on the horizon...fingers crossed!
I know, not easy but think they are GU10 equivalent spotlights with wifi included on the bulb so no hub? I'm sure all will be revealed soon.

The Xiaomi Yellights RGBW (16 million colours) have been as low as a ridiculous 7 quid recently but current best price is 12.53 from Gearbest. The white only ones aren't significantly cheaper (about 9 quid), and the white brightness on the colour ones seems better (with the added benefit of all those colours!).
Not sure if you can change it like ambilight, maybe through ifftt with appropriate TV set , I just pick a colour (like Blue while watching strictly) or Green for Jungle scenes ect .
It does appear to make the experience better though!

Yeelights are great value and perform as well as anything costing 3 or 4 times more.
Wanted 3 of these for the ceiling lights on the staircase but my (2) echo's and full size Alexa are all in different rooms, also the bathroom light would get switched on/off too many times to warrant some soothing colour in there.
Table lamp is behind the TV giving me that Phillips Ambilight effect.

Have you got the lamp connected to the TV in some way so the colours change along with the images on the TV (just like ambilight) I'm interested as hue costs a fortune but its great how the bulbs sync with my ambilight TV when watching a movie etc. If there is no alternative to hue then I might leave the expensive hue bulbs in the room with the ambilight TV and go for these Xiaomi bulbs in the other rooms to save on cost. I'm assuming with Xiaomi bulbs we can set routines, colour scenes etc just like the hue bulbs? and for the bulbs to all turn off when I leave the house because it detects I'm out of range? (and also set lets turn on automatically as I arrive back home) ? I'll probably order 1 for now to see if they can do everything I want them to do.

Nothing initial about these cos I've had another one for months
Absolutely fantastic
They have been sub £8 recently so I usually just bide my time before ordering
No Hub required and they work well with Alexa (if you name them correctly)
I don't use them in ceiling lights because if you turn the wall switch off, they lose their WiFi link inside 24 hours, but they are great if you put them through a table lamp
I also use TP link sockets (£16-£25 each) for LED light strips, the Kettle, Table Fans ect and also have Hive which I can't do without.
Cheers

Sorry, I was assuming this was your first bulb. Agreed on all accounts except ceiling lights. We've got them pretty much all over our bungalow including ceiling lights and simply leave them on at the switch and get Alexa to turn on/off. Just invested in a couple of Sonoff smart plugs but not installed them yet. 2 for 9 quid from China (Banggood with a code again!).
The 7 Yeelight bulbs I have cost me approx 60 quid total. 7x Hue bulbs (plus required hub) would have cost approx 400 quid! Why would people pay that???

Google assistant has some settings pages for home automation. One of those allows you to link to other services, e.g Hue, Nest, whatever and one of the supported services is Yeelight. You might need the Yeelight app for the initial setup though I'm not sure about that.
No need for Google home, though it makes the experience better as I can't guarantee my phone is always listening and able to understand me.

You can get them on amazon/ebay - to be honest tho, easier just to buy an adaptor and lower your shade - most shades have adjustments. These bulbs are slightly bigger than normal ones too, so you might have trouble anyway...

I've got four Hue bulbs and two Yeelights. The Yeelights required two adapters from E27 to B22 and E27 to E14 as the lamp they were going in didn't have the E27 connections. Everything works perfectly.
In comparison to Hue, there's really nothing to complain about. In fact, the lack of Hub makes adding the Yeelights "easier".
What's really good about these is the Yeelight app comes pre-programmed with scenes, two of which I use extensively. One of them sets the lights to a 15 minute dim cycle in the evening, and the other sets the lights to a 15 minute wake cycle in the morning. The latter scene makes waking up in the Winter months much, much easier. I find myself waking up a minute or two before my alarm quite refreshed.
I made two accounts in the Banggood website to cash in on the new customer codes. I don't need any more of these bulbs, but I suspect they may begin to increase in price in the near future and I might just have to invest in some more to dot around the house.

Yes, my electrician originally came out with the 'you really shouldn't buy bulbs from China' line until he got one out of its packaging. Very impressed with the build quality he was. I did also state that even though he'd never heard of Xiaomi they are a massive Chinese corporation and, indeed, had a higher market capitalisation than Sony when they last did a round of public funding in late 2014!
