Since the iOS 11 update controlling them via google home has become troublesome. i could say turn off x or y light but now it tells me the lights are not setup. When I look for the lights in the settings for google home all I get is 4 scenes.
Any ideas on getting back basic functionality?

My first one arrived yesterday, little bit fiddly to set up because I accidentally chose Mainland China as the region, and then couldn't discover the bulb in the Alexa app. Easily resolved though.
Does anyone find the white colour a bit on the blue side? And I was hoping the bulm would be a bit brighter too, but it seems quite dim even when at 100%.

Hey blubell, yes, you can use it in any light fitting and if your light or lamp has a different bulb fitment, you can buy adapters to fit bayonet to ES or SES etc on ebay/amazon/Ikea for about a pound. You can also work this either by downloading the yeelight app and using it exclusively on that or via Alexa if you change the bulb to the Singapore server which is easily done in the app then reset the bulb by switching it off and on 5 times til it flashes thru diff colours. I did that first then it easily connected to Alexa.

You're right, but if you leave it switched off for too long it forgets its settings. I've found that since no-one's in the house during the day I've set my lights to always turn off at 9am. It also does a sunrise thing at about 7:15am, and turns off at midnight.

It does go back to its default colour/state when turned back on. I also think if you were to flick the switch quickly several times in succession it will clear the settings. Also if it was to be used as a main ceiling light I think you would be disappointed in its light output esp at certain colours. An always on/standing by separate side lamp is prob the best way to use this as opposed to a main light solution.

6 Sep 17#63
I kind of get that but I know the missus won't entertain the idea of having to switch the light off by the app or by Alexa in the morning when she is rushing around with the little one and trying to get to work! So, am I right in assuming that if you do switch it off at the mains, it is just a case of turning it back on when you come back home and having control of it again?
I am the one in our household who loves the tech, the missus may as well have been married to a 1950's binman cause she just has no interest in it!

jazzman466

You need to keep the mains power switched on all the time otherwise it will not be connected to the network. You then turn it off and on using alexa or/and the app.
jazzman466
5 Sep 17#54
It's mainly used in a side lamp that can be controlled remotely or with timers on the app to make the place look occupied when we are out. But it's also handy controlling it by voice via alexa too, for eg you can ask her to "dim lamp to 20 percent" "change lamp to warm white" "dim to full brightness" "change colour to red"

I have contacted Yeelight in the past asking if they have them in other fittings, they said they're only available in E27 and that they have no plans to produce them in other fittings.
