Hi, Question of the day. My old Wileyfox used to kick into wifi mode whenever it found my home or work network. But my new Note 4 seems to stay on my 4g data signal even though the Wifi is on and in reach. I have to click a manual connect in Wifi settings. Is there a way to make it connect to Wifi networks automatically when they are in reach?

Yeah I noticed the ones that would hide it but like u mentioned dust will gather under it. This case n protector has held up nicely for me up to now with a few drops and bangs. Alot longer than my s7 did anyway.

Some tempered glass ones like this listing< also only fit up to the edge of the curve to prevent the edge 'halo' effect. An alternative would be to get ones with the coloured border< as the 'halo' effect will be covered by the coloured section. However, over time dust/lint will probably get caught under the lifted edges.

Not really noticed the fingerprints or oil on the screen but I admit they do scratch very easily. Cheap enough at 3 quid for 6 so I just change mine every month or 2. Only down side is that they only fit up to the edge of the curve. But happy with that as I hate them lifting on the sides/corners.
dreadzone101
4 Oct 17#133
Have you noticed any increase in fingerprint smudges and oil accumulating on your screen? I got those film protectors for an older Redmi. Definitely the same seller/brand. But mine were awful. The lack of oleophobic coating made them far more susceptible to oils and dirt. Having to wipe the screen frequently left them with hairline scratches. They were also very thin. If it weren't for the sticky back, I wouldn't have been able to distinguish the backing film, from the protector film itself. Not sure if they've improved the quality since then though.
Hi, can you please advise where you got your glass screen protector from? Thanks in advance.

On another note, has anyone found a glass screen protector that fits these phones? Tried 2, both for the Note 4x, and neither adhere to the edges of the screen. Due to the curve I guess

Yeah quite a lot of people who ordered from Banggood recently got a Royal Mail 'fee to pay' card too. Here's 1 incidence from 4 different threads
If you read the subsequent comments on each, more people said it was the same for them.
Banggood declared the majority at $22 value. 20% VAT = Approx £3.40 + £8 handling fee.

Explanation here<. You should also look for "Note 4X" if buying screen protectors too. If you look at Banggood's case listings for this phone, it will include Note 4X in the title. Example here<.
Be sure whatever you buy that it's listed as for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X otherwise it won't fit properly. The cases listed as for the Note 4 will be for the Helio CPU (non Band 20) phone which is the mistake I initially made...

As a previous poster of Doogee deals on here (which went very hot due to price) and as someone who has had a Doogee (X5 Pro) which was perfectly acceptable for the crazily low price, I would urge you to go Xiaomi. a much more established, reputable brand who support their phones with updates. How big are Xiaomi, you may ask? They are only 7 years old, and in late 2014 they applied to the financial community for funding. The response was so huge that the company were valued at 46 BILLION Dollars! Which at the time was 15 BILLION dollars more that Sony Corporation and 13 times Motorola's valuation!! They are big, basically.

It's fashionable for reviewers to say Xiaomi phones are great value and fantastic in terms of specs:cost , but they hate miui and stock Android is the best .So with the A1 I suppose the draw is that you get the hardware benefits coupled with the geek's wet dream of stock Android, or 'vanilla '! Being a Google device it will get Android version updates very quickly, which really matters to some in a ' p***ing contest ' sort of way and others who feel they have a hard life if they don't have the latest Android version on their phone ,and some who think they might be more attractive to women with Oreo . On the other hand Miui is apparently the best of the UIs ,most used and with versions available for other brands . Much is made of it being a 'heavy' skin ,ram hungry and laggy - however I have just seen a video of a oneplus 5 v mi 6 with miui 9 (which RN4 will get soon) in which the Xiaomi narrowly lost - if that matters . Crucially though , up to miui 8 at least , all the phones received software updates so the ' experience ' was similar regardless of device and even old and less expensive phones received updates. Xiaomi pretty much wipes the floor with the budget and mid range market , fares not so well at the high end - but even there ,it is almost as good as the competition but a lot less expensive .

I didn't even know about xiaomi until recently now I'm close to buying one. It's just a matter of whether I buy this one or the A1 that's due out.

Honestly I would not call it rubbish.
I've compared Redmi Note 4 (snapdragon) camera to two phones for now. Huawei P8 lite (this should be called rubbish) Moto X force (top spec camera of 2015)
Redmi takes a lot better photos than P8 lite but only slightly loosing with X Force.
Maybe not the best camera on the market but definitely far away from rubbish. And it costs only fraction of any other similiar sped phone on the market.

Realising you've had loads of experience with Xiaomi, may I ask for your opinion. I am tempted to pay ~£70 more and with the Mi A1 get a dual lens optical zoom camera (camera quality is v important to me), type c usb, stock android with quick updates, 1gb more ram and double the storage (losing 1000mah in battery capacity in fairness). Seems well worth the extra, unless I'm missing something? Thank you

7 Sep 17#60
Had one of these in black for 4-5 months. Better than the £150-£200 phones on the market at that price for sure. Replaced it with a refurbished Nexus 6p recently but wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Note 4. Think the Mi A1 looks good too and even though the RRP is like £188 it will probably be heavily discounted like the Note 4 was a month or two after release. Pure Android part of the Google One program has to be a plus without the need to flash a rom. No idea if there's a Note 5 on the way but I've seen the lower spec Note 5A which is basically the Note 4X reiterated and updated. Hopefully they release a higher spec Note 5 too.

They've always shipped their lower end units with lower end cameras and will continue to do so if they have any sense - why would they put a mid range camera module in a budget handset and undercut their more expensive phones? Changing that setting doesn't improve the camera (you should always check the settings to see what the factory shipped them out with) which has always been a let down on the Note 3 and 4, but for the money, you can't complain one little bit, it's a great phone with a less than great camera.

Moto X force (top spec camera of 2015)
Redmi takes a lot better photos than P8 lite but only slightly loosing with X Force.
Maybe not the best camera on the market but definitely far away from rubbish. And it costs only fraction of any other similiar sped phone on the market.

Its a running saga in our house
Report back here when you are done.
Is this a common problem and will it work again tomorrow.
Does this phone work on UK and USA networks? and is it 4G?
