Anybody been watching Season 3? Engrossing TV, and the way it 'ended'...incredible.

It might just not be for you - I love twin peaks but it's pacing can be trying for some, so probably no - it doesn't appeal to everyone. Great price btw OP thanks.

Yes you could be right...Probably the pacing is too slow for me.

Good price. I may pick this up as the fancy edition is a total nightmare to get the discs out of.

Okay, you've got my attention. I keep hearing about this series from time to time but know next to nothing about it - why should I be interested? I'm up for being sold on the series!

The original and still the best Twin Peaks experience.

I was so disappointed in Season 3. Very poor in comparison to these first 2 seasons and Fire Walk With Me.

The hell!? Season 2 was the only disappointment - if indeed it was - thus far. Season 3 was all Lynch and absolutely no compromise and was all the better for it. I can't pick a favourite episode, rather look on it as a whole, complete, engaging, enthralling package. Pure horror show.

Even David Lynch said season 2 "sucked", season 3 gave Lynch more control so he made something more like his films which I found more interesting. I think some fans expected nothing to change even after every character had aged 25 years

Having sat through the entire 18 episodes of season 3 (a colleague next to me had to give up 2/3rds the way through), I would say seasons 1/2 are much better than 3. Season 3 suffered from very slow exposition (that guy mopping up the bar floor for 3 mins with nothing happening - WTF?), mostly annoying/unneeded music performances near the end of almost every single episode, Cooper in his dumb Dougie state for *far* too many episodes and a lot of unexplained weird stuff going on.

Twin Peaks seems to have two types of fan, your Coffee and Cherry pie types who just want the catchphrases and small town Americana and then there's the Lynchian fanboys like myself who want things as obscure and esoteric as possible.

I guess I'm a Coffee and Cherry Pie fan, as I simply couldn't get into season 3. Massive fan of season 1 and 2, and this offer is HOT (although won't be buying, have had the DVDs for 8 years), but I gave up on season 3 after 4 episodes. Know how it ends, might start watching it again, but will probably skip up to episode 11 or 12 and start watching from there.

Fanboys/girls in general tend to exhibit highly unreliable judgement in the eyes of the more balanced and pragmatically objective viewer. At its worst it can be pure navel gazing and quite insufferable.

That is not fanboy talk, it's a fact, a lot of original fans don't like the new one because it is completely different in tone, and thematically different. It's a fact, what is wrong with stating it.....

You're perfectly entitled to your own views of course. But you're not entitled to your own facts. There was absolutely nothing factual about your reply in the slightest. Maybe you should look up the definition of the word.

No, I disagree, you're categorising people that love it as bias fanboys who can't possibly be objective.
It's a cheap dig and the only thing that is insufferable is your ridiculous statement.

Another one here who couldn't get into season 3. I gave up at episode 3.
I preferred the old good mix of small town and obscurity, rather than just obscurity.

I so wanted to like it though. I really, really tried - but in the end couldn't stand the idea of watching another episode, as it was nothing like the old Twin Peaks I loved. The ending intrigues me though, which is why I'm tempted to just skip a whole load of episodes and then watch some so I can see the ending.
Have you seen The Leftovers? Season one is superb. Season 2 is alright. Season 3 is great, although not a fan of the very last episode. I would rate first season as good as the original Twin Peaks. Another series I am currently enjoying is Glitch (first season great. Not too certain about season 2 yet, as only one episode down).

I liked season 2, but I loved season 1. Felt season 2 had such a different feel to it. Season 1 was pure anguish (but such wonderful anguish that made your soul feel drained and hollow), whereas season two felt like it was trying to become more "normal". If that makes any sense. Hahah. Some of the "feel" of season 1 came back in season 3.

Season 1 amazing, season 2 first 6 episodes amazing & last 5 amazing, the rest of season 2 is an incoherent mess.
Season 3 is a piece of transcendental art the likes of which has never been seen before, or will be again. It was absolutely incredible, Lynch & Frost could have delivered a nostalgic safe Twin Peaks, but instead thetly challenged the concept of television again.
Season 3 is a complete masterpiece, and it will no doubt smash next year's Emmys. I get why some original fans don't like it (mainly the coffee & cherry pie set) but it doesn't chance the fact of how great it is.
For those that gave up, maybe go back because the second half of the season pulled together lots of the threads set up in the first half. And that ending......wow. been thinking about it for a week!
