Follow the link, browse more tariffs, and select the 20 GB deal, and add the extra 20GB for £4pm.

Its $13 if you select the 20GB @ £9, then add the optional extra 20GB @ £4.

I've used these before and they brilliant! I get 30gb of tethering with my phone, so don't need it, but would buy this if I did.

You buy the 20GB deal, which has go binge, and buy an extra 20GB per month.
Works out £1 per month cheaper, with the bonus of go binge.

I'm wondering if this would be a good option for my mum (the 20GB for £9)

She's not a technology person at all, she has no interest in computers, smartphones or anything along those lines. The only thing she'd possibly use it for is catch up tv. Are these very simple to operate if we set it up for her, or are there cheaper options out there (she doesn't have a landline either so not anything where u have to pay line rental)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I would think it would. It really is a setup and forget device. You plug it in, near a nice reception spot (near a window probably) and near a power socket, obviously. Turn it on, give it a memorable name or leave it as is, change the default wifi password if it's something daft like letmein and connect her TV/phone/tablet to the new wifi hot spot that has appeared and that's it.

All depends on her 3 reception though this Mifi supports extra aeriels so will receive signals better than a phone

This might sounds stupid but are you sure its 40GB per month. Just says 40GB, 24 months. So does that mean its just 40GB for 24 months all together?

I work in basement, so reception is patchy but not too bad at street level. Could I put one of these in entranceway and expect devices to get better signal when they are down a flight of stairs? How powerful are the antenna? Could I connect a wireless hub to this one and daisy chain to the basement area? Don't really want to sign up for 24 months and find out it doesn't solve my problem...

The E5573 has 2 aerial connections so I would assume this deals later model would - so buy a external aerial and run it up the stairs or through the wall ?

The model that this deals come with does not have the external aerial option.
I believe the 40GB @\£14 pm has the older E5573 which does have them.

Pointless feedback without staring the area where the network isn't that good.

In contrast I generally find 3 to be very good in the West Yorkshire area, usually getting between 30mbps to 50mbps on random speed tests.

Anyone used this to replace their broadband? We can only get speeds of 11-14mb in our house but we have a decent 4g signal. I only download roughly 34gb per month based on measuring the last few months. Thought this might be a good replacement?

I would say trial it, have both but don't use the home broadband and see how it goes. Although you'll be tied in for 24 months with this one

Thanks. Yeah, can see how it goes for 14 days can't I? I'll keep the home broadband going until then. If it's poor, I'll just send it back and pay the £13 or so for the experiment.

Anyone actually found it a useful replacement though? I don't want to have to go back to Virgin even although I know the broadband is so much better. It's the monthly cost which annoys me as I am not at home most of the time to use it properly.

I've used Three as my broadband solution before, back when they offered ayce (so my experience might be out of date). I found after a few weeks of doing it (which could be the end of your trial) they started throttling me aggressively - I could barely watch YouTube at 720 resolution. Might they offer a rolling contract where you aren't stuck of they do this to you?

What I have is a 3 Pay Monthly contract with all you can eat data, if you have an old Android phone with CyanogenMod installed then 3 can't tell you are tethering an you can put as much data through as you want. I was throttled last month for the first time in 18 months of doing this, but I went over 750GB so fair I enough.

We live in the middle of nowhere so no chance of fibre, I can get 7MB on ADSL and 20-30MB through the 3 phone, hence most of my data goes through the phone.

I managed to get one when they restocked - VERY happy camper - when we (me and our lad) visit my mum and dad's - they haven't got internet - turn this on and my samsung s7 and lads s5 link straight away and according to the phone we get between 100 and 140 Mbps gob smacking

Anyone managed to get free 3000 3to3 calls on this deal as 3 claims it can't be added due to been a MBB sim even though you can make calls/sms out but will be charged at 321 prices?
