A good addition to your Snes Mini order arriving this Friday (if you were lucky enough!), this "bookazine" from the makers of Retro Gamer provides lots of Snes related reading! (not sure how to add image nowadays!)

bookazine? nope, not in my name etc. Also for a 'complete manual' it seems to be missing a lot looking at the chapters. Save yourself £5, oh and buy me a coke.
I'm waiting for the N64 version to drop to a fiver :)! I have the Nintendo archives and am reading the PlayStation one at the moment, find them very interesting, but they are purely articles pulled straight from Retro Gamer so not much use if you subscribe/buy regularly.

What are the archives and PlayStation ones like? Are they big?

They're A4 magazine size, but a but thicker. Basic a chunky magazine. They're good though in my opinion. Just don't expect a 'book'.

Thanks for the info.

Yes they're A4 and plenty to read. The Nintendo archives covers from NES all the way up to Gamecube/GBA. The PlayStation one has just been released, I brought it last weekend from WHSmiths. Covers history and making of the console, top games lists and then in depth looks/interviews at alot of the big games, crash, resi, tomb raider, oddworld etc

Which Playstation one are you referring to? The one called 'The Playstation Book'?

Just checking as you said it had just been released, but I've had that one since September 2015. Didn't want to miss out on another one as I thought the one I had was good.

I paid full price for those two (tenna each), from WH Smiths, the PlayStation one has just been released. I have had several other "bookazines" (chunky one off specials) cheap from here before though, so i check back regularly to see what they've marked down.

Thanks for the info, I'll have a look for them! I only brought the Playing with Power and just seen they are doing a SNES one now which would be cool to get

I got this 2 weeks ago and be aware it's in travel size,I was surprised it was small but didn't bother me though. The RRP is £7.99.

Yes, was just about to say the same. Bought mine in WH Smiths in February. It's not brilliant but worth a fiver I suppose.

Hah lol, £60 odd quid later for me and nearly a tenner cashback (not to mention the extra 6% for taking the M&S voucher)! Some good stuff in the clearance and well worth the £3 or so each they've ultimately cost me.
Also a Retro Gamer fan (subber) - sooooo annoyed I've missed out on "The Ultimate Retro Collection" bookazine - sold out even before the first advert was in the mag! And I ain't paying no £35 on eBay for it!!

Is there a more up to date bookazine for the Snes Mini? Looking forward to the release on Friday but would rather concentrate on the games included and not the ones that didn't make the cut!

You should check out this months Retro Gamer - comes with a 52 page "new" issue of Super Play which concentrates more or less solely on the SNES Mini - plus you never know you might like Retro Gamer, it's a great read.
edit: just realised this has been mentioned above - still worth mentioning again though!

I've a copy, it's a nice magazine, the fact it's travel-sized makes it all the more appealing imo. Agree with previous comments however the the copy of Super Play bundled with this months Retro Gamer is the preferred SNES Classic companion piece.

I remember being subbed to super play magazine back in the day. Going to have to purchase that copy of retro gamer if you still can.
