Ok I will be dead honest I don't particularly think this is deal per se. But after wasting far too much time
This is not SLI PSU but the other PSU I was interested was antec 550W also non SLI which would have worked out about the same. So in that sense its a fair deal to me anyway, for my own needs.
Its also Tier 2 on Toms HW list so you could do a lot worse tomshardware.co.uk/for…tml ( Better than Corsair CX600 etc).
I am buying this due to a failed Corsair CX600 in the used works PC I bought, this tends to confirm that these CX tend to fail. I also did a power check on requred PSU and for existing that PSU is way above required power which was circa 400-500W, so failure is just down to poor PSU.
Hope that saves someone agonising about buying an ATX PSU like I did.
Its £60 at Scan so I think this is about cheapest UK for a very respected branded PSU purchase.

£60 is a lot to pay for bronze, for not much more you could have gone gold. EVGA - 650 GQ is only 79.99 in Currys and £75 in a few places online or £78.39 on amazon.

my sentiments exactly - i know Seasonic make some decent PSUs, but this bronze unit is unlikely to have the best components and similar bronze units can be have for a lot less
Bronze is just the efficiency and not a measure of build quality. It's a good solid budget psu.

I have this PSU for my build and have had no issues whatsoever with it. Runs like a charm.

The corsair psu are terrible now . My friend had one that when you screwed the case screws into it ,it shorted and the pc wouldn't switch on . He kept it and just left one case screw out lol , I would of returned it myself Seasonic are excelent and have only heard /experienced good things about them

Corsair get their PSUs built by various manufacturers such as FSP, CWT and Seasonic. Budget end CWT and FSP aren't the best. Both my CX600 and TX650 failed but they were both CWT and FSP built junk. Seasonic TX650v2 still going strong after 8 years.

AFAIK going by Realhardtechx's PSU review database: realhardtechx.com/ind…htm Corsair's only remaining Seasonic-made supplies are the AX760 and AX860. For all the others, the beancounters at Corsair have swapped to cheaper manufacturers. Tellingly - unlike EVGA - Corsair haven't released any Seasonic-made supplies in ages and were never willing to pay for Superflower (I would rate Seasonic and Superflower as the top consumer manufacturer with Delta being more a manufacturer for server supplies).
The CS850M is only made by Greatwall though. Got good reviews from Jonnygury* though: jonnyguru.com/mod…419 (well OklahomaWolf, as Jonny now works for Corsair...)

Japan quality!!! I have one from 6 years. PSU is most important thing in PC, worth to spend extra money.

Well you are paying for the name here but this is not a great price for a Bronze 80 PLUS PSU, it's also tier 4: linustechtips.com/mai…ed/ (the Toms list is ok but over 2 years old)
You can get a Corsair RM650x for a little more which is Gold rated with decent components. And yes, while Bronze isn't a direct measure of quality, where do you think the efficiency is lost otherwise?

On average the RM650x is £30 more than this PSU, a third of its price. For that you do get modular cables and 30 watts more though.
The Seasonic PSU is a really old design for a reason. It's a reliable work horse without the bells and whistles. Most bronze PSUs have cheap components such as low temperature caps but seasonic didn't cut corners. Very few people complaining about these units for a reason.
Unless you're mining or have a small size case you don't need extras and could save yourself £30. If I remember right most PSUs are very efficient until they go near max power draw which isn't likely to happen with this PSU.

I only recommended the RM650x as I had picked one up for £65 from Amazon before and that was much closer to the price. At the £90-100 level you could get a CS850M which is also Gold and semi-modular.
I know 80 PLUS efficiency isn't the sole reason to buy something but you'd have to ask why it's only Bronze if it didn't have cheaper parts

I agree it has a cheaper and simpler design but it doesn't need to hit those efficiency points. You do get to the point of diminished returns where gold and platinum rated PSUs aren't justified. I don't own a Seasonic badged PSU myself as the rebadged PSUs are a lot cheaper. The PSUs in my house are a XFX, Fractal Designs and Corsair. All these are rebadged Seasonic PSUs but about £15-£20 cheaper, so the name does hold a price point but the RMA process could be a lot better with seasonic.

the bronze rating doesn't necessarily mean "cheaper" parts at all, it may mean less of them, such as highly intricate power monitoring and controlling circuitry which may also be a reason for a higher failure rate.

THIS PSU is less than 60 so an extra 30 would be more than 50% extra , 1/3 converted into decimal is 33.33% (LOL JK) As mentioned unless you are mining or running at near full power 24/7 you arent going to notice the difference in efficiency.. seasonic have a great rep for PSU and from them 620w MEANS 620w , and then some. Shame its not modular but even that can be debatable in its benefits.

Well I look at it as thus. If you have the components in your PC that needs a PSU that's over 600w in the first place then the chances are that you are used to paying a decent amount of money for your equipment. Why then would you take the risk of losing said equipment by buying a PSU that has a chance (granted albeit a small chance) of failing when you need it most?
Its just not worth the risk. I've got an EVGA 850w G3 in my latest build (which admittedly, cost the guts of £2000 to assemble minus the monitor), the PSU cost me £140 but I'd pay that and more for peace of mind. Fried motherboards and components are an expensive business.

Despite what people say, there is a correlation between 80+ rating and quality of the PSU. A well designed, well produced PSU using quality components will get the highest possible efficiency, whereas a cut down PSU, perhaps not as well designed with lower quality components will yield lower efficiency.
It's not a direct relationship, no, but the higher the 80+ rating, the more advanced and higher quality the PSU is likely to be

Well this was my point really but you've worded it better. Anyway, I couldn't find the better Seasonic PSUs around and most of what I use are Corsair AX, HX and RMi in my builds. The RM650x was the cheapest one I use and the CS850M was all I could get my hands on above 700W at short notice. I have some Corsair VS I bought in a pinch and they've been pretty good too.

For what its worth I have had a SeasonicS12 Bronze running my NAS box for almost 3 years, and still no signs of anything wrong
i am about to buy so let me know as soon as possible or any suggestions for a cheaper psu.. i am on a tight budget.. do not want to spend more than £50 on a psu as want it to all come under £500!
My specs are as follows ryzen 3 1200 8gb 2800mhz ram 256gb m.2 ssd gtx 1050 gpu - will upgrade in future

Wow. This is my Spec a bit more of an older technology but with enough poke to do what I need.

Was bought used from work for £80, although the 2nd one I won as a 3sx based case i5 desktop ( with transparent case) bought and sold practically payed for this one, so not too bad really having the i7 above for practically free lol.
For same reason I didn't want to pay more on a PSU than I had done on the whole unit! Hence after some research, I appreciate the seasonic isn't for everyone or the seasoned tuner or gamer, but on a budget seems pretty fair ? And a better shout than the crappy Corsair GX600 unit that failed it replaces. - Actually I did a comparison on the components and they seem to hold up pretty well despite how old, looks like I did pretty well there lol

I hasten to add I'm not a serious desktop user - I was surprised when the CX PSU failed as I've probably had about 5 hours used in half a year since I had the unit, lol and it still looks spanking new. Very poor advertising for them as I will never willingly spend money on a Corsair PSU on this basis that looks so new/unused, its not very eco friendly is it. Rather do a bit of reseach and go for something that lasts. I think this PSU thing is new to me, as in the past I've owned PSU's from the early days of 386 onwards and never ever had a PSU ever fail on me although have tended to use laptops the last 8 years or so.

I've used Corsair PSUs for the last 8 years no issues. For my latest build had an EVGA 650 G2. Had to send it back, kept causing random reboots. Now using a RMi750 with no issues. While my 2500k based rig still has a CM650 in it. Actually I lied, it does have a click fan every so often.

Pretty sure the Corsair RMi750 is built by Seasonic :ninja: Also the neither the CS-650M or the RMi750 are budget PSUs so they're not so cheaply built

Think it was just the RM750 that was Seasonic. CWT does the RMi. The RMi reviews well on Johnny Guru and flags as a Tier 1. PSU.
At the end of the day every product can fail. Some more than others. Buy the best you an and check reviews first to make sure it isn't an over inflated turd.

Yep, you're right. Not sure where the hell I got that information from, maybe from a forum. I assumed the RMi was Seasonic and the RMx was CWT but they're both CWT.
