Update - I have received mine today and it DOES have the USB-C connector fitted with Micro USB adaptor if you need/want that. Perhaps I've been lucky but I don't see why. My S8 works and fits perfectly. I can put pics up if anyone really needs/wants proof! :nerd:

Looks like you're not going to know what you get until you open the box... Looking at old reviews, it should come with USB-C out of the box and micro-USB as an accessory. Mine just arrived and came with the USB-C connector and the bag :grin: . My Galaxy S8+ fits fine. No offset problems. Glad I decided to wait for the headset before buying the adapter.

Mine's 'just' the S8 but it fits without any problem - I genuinely haven't got a clue what this whole offset thing is about. I've bought a £11 part that looks exactly the same as the one that was included. :thinking:

Perhaps, and this is a presumption, after the demise of the Note 7, there were no other devices that were compatible with USB-C, so effectively there was no need for it to be included with the headset. Maybe the more recently manufactured sets were boxed with no USB-C adapter and Samsung possibly have a mixture of old and new stock.

Mine are different, one with grey on is the 2017 one. It does seem to fit better with the new one but the actual performance of the stereo effect doesn't seem to be any different!

No I think materially they are the same other than colour, but you can see on the pics that the usb is in a different place vs the 2016. I have the pieces perfectly in line with each other, so any difference you spot in position is how they want the phone positioned on the gearvr it would seem.

Just out of interest, I have an S6 (not the edge version) & the mk1 Samsung VR headset (which for the price I have been very impressed by), so I was wondering how the latest headset & the S8 are looking? I'm expecting the S8 to be my next phone when the time comes & the contract on my current phone is up next summer.
The S8 has higher screen resolution than the S6/7 models (which are similar if not the same....can't remember if they are exactly the same, something tells me they might be) so I'd expect it to be a step on but can anyone say by how much? Has the 'screen door' effect gone or been much reduced?
Can anyone go a step on & say how the S8 & latest headset compares to PS4 VR for eye-candy (tho obviously not games as such)?

Guys, this is VERY confusing. Mine has arrived (yay) AND it DOES have the USB-C Connection fitted which is advertised on the Box and it still lists compatibility with the Note 7 (which it was of course at the time).
Does look like I've ordered the USB-C adaptor off ebay for no reason but hopefully I can return that.

The offset is slightly different on the supplied one, so you are still better off with the correct part aparrently. Mine came yesterday with a bag (different to the one pictured) and the usb type C, and I think it works fine but according to the page I posted further up its not quite correct.

I purchased this and it came with adopter already attached to it. It works perfectly fine. Plus they gave nice Samsung carry bag aswel. I'm loving it. Thanks OP As you can see in the pic that one is attached and one is separate. So I actually have two adopters.

My order for this came last week and not only was I provided the USB C alternate connector as well as the old mini USB but they also sent me a mini USB to USB C adapter bundled in the box! Some people reported getting just an adapter but I also got the correct USB C connector which goes directly into the gear VR headset.
The headset works really well, however one thing I've found is that for anyone planning to use it with a S8+ and you have a tempered glass screen protector on your cherish device then you might have issues connecting the clamp-like USB C connector as the screen protector makes it just that little bit too thick to connect comfortably. For some stupid reason the USB C port on the S8+ is angled downwards and it's hard to connect the gear VR onto it, especially if you have a tempered glass screen protector on like myself
Didn't get a fancy Samsung bag though...

Any recommendations for the controller to add to this?
So even if there is a type C in there it wont work perfectly due to the alignment not being correct for the S8/S8+. I have ordered one and the adaptor from ebay so still a good deal (vs what a 2017 one costs).

I also brought one of these last week and can confirm the one from Samsung did have the USB-C adapter already fitted as i swapped it out for the mico usb one and it now works well with my S6+
I also used the colleagues deals link as I am a member though my wifes work which then brought it down a bit more so happy days..

I bought one of the adapters from ebay for about £13 and it worked fine. But I was fortunate enough to get a free one of these from Vodafone. Well it was the earlier version to this, but the USB C connector I bought allowed it to fit my S8 perfectly. Proper 'ghetto king' VR with thanks to HUKD.

Looking at the site at 14:55 today, there's a lovely picture of the USB C adapter at the top but the specs don't mention anything and the actual section entitled "The Galaxy Connection" has no mention of USB C or the S8.
Perhaps this is the oldest stock they had left? Shame, as I would have bought one...

Yes. In the description it says it includes USB C but that seems to be unlikely.
I've ordered the adapter from eBay (£11.50) as mentioned above as I need that for my S8.
If by some coincidence it DOES come with the adapter I'll just return it to eBay.

I purchased this a week ago and would like to confirm that it DOES NOT come with the USB-C adapter. Even though it lists it in the description, it is not included in the box. It seems that they removed them all after the whole Note 7 debacle. Many reviews also state this and I was prepared for this.
Also note that the USB-C adapter that was included is not 100% compatible with the S8. There's a slight offset. The one that comes with the 2017 model is slightly different and having read through forums, I purchased the 2017 USB-C module separately from eBay for £11-£12 or so and used it with the 2016 Gear VR.
