We've been through this before Sam, but here is a speed test done just now on a Chinese phone with no band 20. I'm on the edge of a very small town in the north of England. Notice the fast 4G, and the good, strong signal. I accept that some may need B20, but not everyone needs it all the time. My lack of it makes no difference to me whatsoever. And I can't be the only one, either. Pint?

Hate it when people talk about warranty. If this is an official device and not a fake, chances are you'll never need the warranty. You'd have to be very unlucky to need one because it usually needs a manufacturing issue like the note 7 to be a realistic risk (and that's highly unlikely), so it's not the real big issue here.
The big issue here is connection. All the phones I've had from Asia have had inferior network (especially data) connections in the uk compared to uk models. Even those phones where ive meticulously checked that in the asian model the uk network provider wavelengths are supported for edge/3g/4g/4g+,the connection is still worse. Its only noticeable if you have multiple phones.
For that reason alone i would avoid these overseas phones. The second reason is the likelihood of getting hit by import tax.
Only after those 2 issues would i consider the issue of no uk warranty.

I dont think network connection is a issue in quality brands like Sony , Samsung, Huawei and LG . It is just some of the Chinese brands with big specs give poor connections as the antenna and signal amplifier quality is very poor combined with slow mediatek modem.

This is nothing to do with cheap or expensive brands. It depends on the handset and what the manufacturers have done for different regions.
Essentially different network carriers transmit data across different frequencies. In the UK for example Three transmits its 4G signals at different frequencies to EE, or o2 or vodafone. A UK model of a phone will support all the frequencies used by all the major operators in the UK.
In different regions across the world the frequencies network providers use is entirely different to the ones in the UK/Europe. As such phones would need to support those frequencies in order to connect to 2G, 3G, 4G, 4G+, etc.

In my personal experience from having had numerous imported Android devices (latest was a Note 5 from a major retailer in Hong Kong), even if all the data frequencies of your UK network provider is supported and you actually sometimes get the maximum best connection type (4G+) on that imported phone, it's sometimes less stable and reliable than the exact same on a UK mobile. I've been able to compare the two side by side at times, even swapped sims around to make sure it wasn't some sort of sim issue. This last part is anecdotal of course, but I find it's really overlooked, and I'm guessing it's simply because people who use imported phones just don't know when they're sometimes getting an inferior connection (e.g. 3G instead of 4G) because even with a UK model the signals aren't consistent all of the time.

You can still buy phones abroad with all uk bands like this S8 +, Sony xz premium , Samsung S8 , HTC U11 etc They all come in dual sim models which are only sold abroad or through importers like Eglobal as this deal. In UK you can only buy single sim models due to carrier restrictions. I see no signal loss or poor connection in these phones with all uk 4G bands . But to buy phones abroad with UK 4G bands missing , you have to be complete illiterate person and definately you will get poor connection and slow data speed.

If you're splashing this much cash on a phone, it's definitely worth paying a little extra to get uk warranty.
It becomes a headache to get support from Samsung if you need any work to be carried out on it

Yeah totally get that - but I would rather save
the money - seller does offer a 12-month warranty. Not many phones these days
require use of a warranty anyway. It’s in the manufacture’s interest to
make them last passed the warranty.
Most people upgrade 12 to 24 months as well

IF the phone is involved in something which requires returning the handset to Samsung, they will deny providing any service towards the device. Its your choice whether you're willing to accept the risk in not having a UK warranty.
Three warranty provided by the seller isn't worth the time taken to read their terms and conditions.
Best things ous to declare on your home insurance in the event you need to replace the device

Cold. If things go wrong it's a case of posting back and forth to China. Warrantly isn't valid in Europe. As others have said you are far better off paying a little extra buying from within the EU. Any post from EGlobal gets a cold vote from me.

I've also read that some features on a non UK phone won't work in the UK (eg Samsung pay). I don't have one personally but have been doing a lot of looking as I quite fancied the pink version which is only available overseas.

My imported Samsung Gear S3 smartwatch was purchased from eGlobal and Samsung Pay works perfectly on it, despite it being a UAE model.
Besides, even if Samsung Pay won't work on the phone, you've always got Android Pay which will.

I've got a genuine question for anyone who is spending this much on a phone. How many of you don't have insurance for it, whether that be with your bank, or as a separate policy, or as an add-on to your home insurance?
The reason I ask this is, Samsung charge a whopping £300 almost to fix the screen if you drop and break this, so it's almost the cost of the phone. :dizzy_face:

Bought a Samsung Gear S3 smartwatch from eGlobal a couple of months ago.
Wear it every day. Had no problems with it. Delivery took around a week and a half with no customs fees or import charges to pay.

I don't understand the relevance. Your purchase would only be relevant, if it had broken, and you had to send it back under warranty for repair or a refund. Then your experience would have been relevant to the main issue people have with this seller and sellers based in China, in general. Of course, if you receive the item you ordered, and it works ok, then that's fine, but if the day comes when it fails, that's when you will start to understand why people have a problem with having no warranty in the UK.
