Well result is, Samsung will repair under warranty, hoping for collection tomorrow. and Amazon gave me a 15% refund. And I get the phone back in a couple of weeks, not ideal, but I suppose it makes it cheaper...

That's great news! I definitely would have lived with a couple of weeks delay for it being £70 odd cheaper.
Mine arrived yesterday, fairly poorly packaged but all complete with charger, headphones and adaptors and not a mark on it

I expect they were wondering if the phone was repaired at the UK service centre, or if it had to be sent to Italy. From the Samsung site:
"Samsung Electronics (UK) Ltd support a product purchased in Europe if it has an EU Bloc Warranty. This warranty is present where the top of the product warranty card clearly states 'European Bloc'. If the product is purchased in another part of the globe then Samsung may attempt a repair. Samsung Electronics (UK) Ltd cannot guarantee the outcome." Ref: samsung.com/uk/…tml
This statement would be a slight worry buying Warehouse deals tho: "Warranty periods and warranty services are intended as a guide only and variations may occur. The warranty period applies from the date of purchase by the first customer and is transferable only between end-users."
How would you find out when the phone was first purchased to know how much of the warranty is remaining?
Bardak to AndySX
3 Oct 17#53
I don't know how to find the purchase date but this phone has been released April 2017 and Samsung has a 24 months warranty. That means that in the worst scenario you still have left more than 1 year warranty covered by samsung?

They've got one up just now listed as good condition for €542.34/£481.43 if anyone is interested.
Used - Good condition
The Manual is missing. The item will come in the original packaging. The original package will be damaged. Amazon Warehouse Deals offers the same service and the same Amazon Return Policy.
Edit: looks to be gone now

mine turned up today, absolutely perfect, no scratches as stated, BUT open the camera, device restarts, great load of hassle I've bought now! amazon.it seem to want me to send it back to Italy, at my cost.... any clues of the easiest way to resolve this, trying Samsung uk warranty next.

Have you tried resetting the phone? Might help with crashing.

Try to contact samsung before sending it back, it sounds like a software problem that you can probably easily fix with a reboot
Dang, sorry to hear that dude. It's why I personally chose to opt out of this. Have you had any luck with Samsung?

The silver one is back in stock for €534. I really want a black one but this price is tempting. Can't see them selling the black model for this price anytime soon?
Also it states that this is "Italian Version" - would that affect the use within the UK in any way?

Looking at it it seems to have more damage, 2.5cm x 2.5cm on the side and back sounds like drop damage.
Translation: "Used - Very good condition
The product is in the original packaging and the packaging has minimal damage. Small aesthetic imperfection on the sides of the object (less than 2.5 cm x 2.5 cm). Small aesthetic imperfection on the back of the object (less than 2.5 cm x 2.5 cm). Accessories may be subject to aesthetic damage. Amazon Warehouse Deals offers the same service and the same Amazon Return Policy."
If it's just a few wee nicks, a slim phone case would probably cover it up. But with the curved screen any mention of damage to the sides worries me a little...
I've checked Amazon.de, .fr, and .es and their Italy store seems to have the best prices on their Galaxy S8+ warehouse deals.
I'll keep an eye out for more cheap "Like new" deals.

Thanks Op!. Returning my john lewis order. This is cheaper than john lewis price match deal posted the other day, even without £100 bonus that Samsung give with a trade in.
Prefer the silver also!

Agreed, if it's scratched, it's going back but at this price it's worth the risk of that hassle

28 Sep 17#17
But they are scratched Kofsw4, used Google translate and this is what is says: Small scratches on the screen (less than 0.6 cm x 0.6 cm). Small scratches on the front of the product (less than 0.6 cmx 0.6 cm). Small scratches on the sides of the product (less than 0.6 cm x 0.6 cm). Small aesthetic damage on the back of the object. The USB cable is missing. The item will come in the original packaging. The original package will be damaged. Amazon Warehouse Deals offers the same service and the same Amazon Return Policy.
What I don't understand is how more than one can have exactly the same damage.

Amazon Warehouse descriptions are always very inaccurate, I never had a scratch on a single item so far, or something missing, even with Used - Good and Used - Acceptable.

28 Sep 17#21
This. From what I've seen and read the description is probably a worst case scenario, otherwise everybody would be sending them back as being not as described.
In any case, I cancelled my original order and have ordered a 'like new' version for £481
