Seeing as I couldn't justify buying a set myself I would have no objections if you would like to name me as the benefactor of the scales in your will...promise they would be looked after well and used very regularly (unlike most kitchen gadgets most of us seem to accumulate over the years!!!) :smiley_cat:

Is it any good for weighing small parcel / posts?

Can't see why not as they weigh up to 5kgs...I use a set of Kitchen scales for weighing parcels although the only thing I would say is that depending on the size of the parcel I may have to set a bowl on top of mine and then place the parcel on top so that I can read the display....although it may be a case of stating the obvious I place the bowl on prior to switching them on so that the weight is read from zero

Got mine today and I've tried weighing lots of different things and everything is around 5% out.
Anyone know if this is normal or have I got a bad set?

It rather depends on how sure you are of the exact weight of the items you're weighing and whether that 5% is on very low weight items of just a few grams. On very low-weight items 5% might be acceptable, but on anything over, say, 25g it seems high.

Thanks for the reply.
I had been weighing weight-lifting weights. I assumed a 4 kilo weight would weigh EXACTLY 4 kilos but a quick google search suggests thats not the case at all so they aren't as bad as I first thought.
They still seem to be around 2-3% out though from weighing pop bottles and things like that.

Unfortunately I don't have a set of these so don't think I'm going to be much help but your comment set me thinking as I have various other sets of kitchen scales and have never checked their accuracy in any great depth so have just spent a "happy" half an hour or so weighing various items on all of them to see the error differences between them....mind you now thinking about it I've also assumed that the items I was weighing were actually the correct weight but can't check that they are without using a pair of scales....mmm guess we can say my results aren't going to be scientifically accurate on the error front BUT have found that the same items weigh slightly more or less on the different sets of scales that I have but there's only a few grams difference between the minimum and maximum readings I've been getting across the sets of scales.

Thanks for that.
How heavy are the items that are only a few grams out though?
An example of mine is a 2 litre bottle of water weighs 2070 grams (with the weight of the empty bottle deducted) so it is about 3.5% out.
Although there may be slightly more or less than 2l in the bottle even though it is unopened.
I think I will end up keeping them but really I would have hoped for accuracy within 1-2%
