Are these the type made of lead shot that disintegrate at the first sign of a moderately tight screw? Genuinely wondering as I need some new bits.

I'm my experience longevity is all about using the correct size of bit - the all disintegrate eventually but use the wrong side and you speed the process up.
This set is probably made up of quite a few you'll never use so you might be better buying a couple of bulk packs of pz2 or similar. That'll save you using the wrong ones when the only good ones left are the wrong size for the job.

Surely the point of this set is that when you need something obscure, there's a good chance there will be one in here. No point having a pack of No 2 Pozidriv when what you actually need is a 2.5mm hex. Yes, you'll probably need to replace the PZ2 pretty quickly if that's what you use most of the time.
I have a similar set which I've had for many years. I rarely use it but just occasionally I go to it for obscure bits.

I was responding to a specific post, however in response to your reply I'll say that cheap, easily rounded Allan keys and hex head fixings are worse than their pozi/Phillips counterparts.
Id advise buying some decent Allan keys as I don't see those as disposable whereas pz and ph bits are throwaway items.
Its each their own with tools, but cheap ones - especially spanners and sockets etc - are a false economy imho.

I do love decent quality tools, but for some things for a lot of people there is sense in buying the cheapest serviceable tool you can. If it breaks, buy a high quality one because you clearly used it a lot. I'd hazard that security bits and torx bits fall into that bracket for most people.
I agree on the Allen keys and hex bits though. I ruined my fair share of fasteners as a teenager with a crappy Allen key set.

Fair point. I do have a set of expensive German-made Wiha Allen keys, which I regard as money well spent. However, just occasionally I need an Allen bit for a drill driver, and then I use the cheapo set. Maybe I should try to find a quality set of assorted bits.

I have this and its been surprisingly useful, particularly for my renault clio, and lasted several years without rusting or shearing (though i got the red plastic case not the neon green one).
