Nice buy. I bought a second hand Reebok treadmill gt30 and use it every other day and its really good. Nice absorption (good for the shins) and good enough top speed. I bought it too upgrade a cheaper treadmill. I only jog outdoors a bit as it keeps doing my shins in, but getting better. Jog 10k outdoor and the treadmill is a good inbetweener. Also bought a 16" floor fan for about £35 and angle it up towards me and it makes a big difference to have some air getting blasted at you. Also Spotify blasting out. Started off doing a c25k jogging app and was a really good start as I'm a crap jogger. Would buy this if I didn't already have mine.

I take it you have already gone to the asics store (or similar) and had them measure your feet and run on a treadmill whilst being videoed so they can recommend the right type of trainers for you (e.g. stability trainers for over-pronaters)?
I found using stability trainers an improvement. Though I think I can just about manage 8-10K twice a week. When I increase the distance or frequency, it takes a bit longer for the clicks and niggles to reset themselves, though I live in hope that I'll gradually strengthen and be able to increase. In the meantime, I try to be sensible by chucking in spin classes to get some cardio without as much impact along side the maximum of 2 jogs.

Cheers. No I haven't but I think I've managed to get over it now I've just pushed things a bit too much in the past. Tried buying different trainers and settled with new balance.

I burnt through two Reebok treadmills in a year. Motor burnt out both times despite proper maintenance and they couldn't source the correct parts, so had to replace the whole treadmill. Eventually just got a refund, but I get the impression these products are not designed for even a moderate amount of use.

It has a 2 year warranty plus a very decent 10 year warranty on the motor and in my experience of owning a Reebok exercise bike, their warranty customer support is also very good.

I'm a little wary of ordering 'temporarily out of stock' exercise equipment from Amazon since my daughter ordered a Reebok exercise bike at the end of June that said the same thing but still hasn't come back in stock after more than two months of waiting. I would suggest paying the bit extra for delivery and order it from Argos who do have it in stock.

Would love one but I don't know if I'd use it. Could maybe splurge 200 but this is a bit rich for someone who never runs

Have you tried a couch to 5 k app? (C25k)? It really helps you keep at it and I started to actually, almost, a little bit look forward to doing the next stage. I hated jogging but for the first time got into it.

An exercise bike might be a better bet for you. Cheaper to buy, takes up less space, involves less joint stress and still provides a good cardio workout. Running does burn up to 50% more calories than cycling at the same intensity but that is because it is a weight-bearing exercise that requires more effort and why many people end up giving up and reducing the treadmill to the expensive clothes horse people are joking about on this thread. It's also a lot harder to fall off an exercise bike than a treadmill ! At the end of the day, any exercise is better than none so best to choose the piece of equipment you think you are most likely to continue using.

Run in the park = Get asked for drugs
Cost = 2 pints of blood upon refusal of "product"
Save £386 = Save a lot more money on fuel/transport by being bed-bound with PTSD, and only ever using a treadmill in VR.

You're suggesting that its unsafe to run in your local park?
Which park is that then because I don't know anywhere where a jogger would be asked for drugs and then stabbed if they didn't had it over.

I do both. The treadmill is good for those days you can't be bothered getting out or don't have a lot of time. Or when the weather is crap.
Anyway, I've had my Reebok ZR9 treadmill for nearly 5 years and it's still going strong. If you're going to use it then this is a great buy (if you've got the space for one).

Why are you getting so defensive about whether or not I choose to use a treadmill?! It's not your money, it makes literally no difference to you whatsoever! Why do you care?!
Picard123 to buddn07
5 Sep 17#32
I'm not getting defensive at all - you're the one who seems to be getting defensive in the face of questions which you don't seem to be able to answer. I just find your story about the park and in-laws difficult to believe. I notice that you still haven't named the park which you claim is so ultra dangerous that its unsafe to jog there....
Name the park.

The majority of them. I wouldn't feel comfortable going running in any of the parks in Bristol at night.
Again... I still don't see why you seem to care so much about whether I run outside or on a treadmill?

Just jog down the streets. Buying a treadmill just for when you're at your in laws makes zero sense.

For someone who does not have the best knees this is great. I can't run on hard pavement anymore but on this I can. Get in a routine of first thing in the morning rain, hail or snow and it is done. Love mine and my clothes are all hung up in the wardrobe

For anyone wondering, 16kph = ~ 6 min/mile, which is a fairly decent top speed for a treadmill imo.
kramer2088 to buddn07
4 Sep 17#30
If you can run at 16 kph consistently your doing 10ks in under 40 mins and half marathons in 1 he 20... So elite !. Nice to have a good top speed to sprint occasionally, plus a feeling that you aren't burning out the motor when doing a steady 12kph
