Has anyone used these wet? Seems like a gimmick to me.

Not this but my 10 year old rotary was wet and dry,v as soon as my face gets wet it forgets to shave anything. But that's a lot older model.

I need a new one but I was thinking about getting a foil one as I already have a rotary. Speaking of which it's 10 years old... What do you guys think?

I tried moving from a rotary to a foil shaver and it was a big mistake. Philips Rotary shavers are the best you can get in my experience. I won't stray from them again.

Haven't voted but I used to use one of these Philips Wet & Dry shavers (for like 3-4 years) and thought it did a decent job but honestly, even a £5 manual razor does a better job and I actually find it faster.
These things miss so many hairs that you have to keep going over and over the same spots continuously, and most of the time I found myself with an awful rash on my neck from the irritation of having to do it so many times.

I've heard the Phillips OneBlade is the best shaver ever, and that once I have it, i'll never need another shaver again. From a mate too, not advertising.
Has anyone tried one like this, and tried the oneblade, which is better? What's the advantage of a shaver like this?

I've got the oneblade pro for the better battery. I'll be perfectly honest with you, its total crap. It's never close to an open blade nor is it meant to be, but the problems with it, is that it shaves very uneven, the contour of your jaw bone right down to your neck near your adams apple will not be close, no where near close, doesnt matter how taught you pull your skin either, it just wont shave it properly. Regardless of direction your going in. Dont even think of having a wet shave. You will be shaving every day too with it. with my open blade I can get 2-3 days. I could go on, but I'm even boring myself.

these are a pain for the neck area. ended up using a manual razor which defeated the purpose of a "quick shave"

I found the blades warmed up giving extreme red rash on the neck. It made for a fun work day!

Why would something warm make your neck red?

I've lost count of the amount of leccy shavers i've had in over 40 yrs of shaving, foil and rotary..... but one thing is certain, absolutely none of them are as good, or shave as close, as a wet shave with a razor. I also feel fresher after a wet shave and my skin is always better. Although out of the many rotary and foil shavers i've owned, the best has been the Panasonic foil shavers, but only the ones with the ultra fast linear drive.

Isn't it funny that despite all the technology we have now and the thousands of years we've been doing it, that one of the oldest ways of shaving your face is still the best (by a long way IMO)?

Yep..... And leccy shavers, foil and rotary, are still inherently the same as when they were first invented 80 years ago. They aren't much better now and have just had gimmicks added to them.

Everybody's different but this isn't true for me. Wet shaving always left my face red and sore. Yes, a wet shave gets closer but that's why I get irritation and besides I prefer the shaved yesterday look.
For those who say electric shaving causes them discomfort - do you use a good pre electric shave lotion or oil? Makes the world of difference and never switch between wet and electric shaving as your face will never adapt to your shaver else.

Would you recommend this shaver for pubes? I always have massive problems with cuts to my shaft.

Ive used Philips wet & dry rotary razors for about the last 10 years or so. The first I replaced after 2 years. It was as cheap to buy a new unit, than new blade. I kept the replacement and did the same again albeit after 3 and a bit years. And now my third unit is about 4 years old. First blade.
Admittedly I rarely get past stubble and shave about 3/4 times a week with it.
Initially I used to use them in the shower, with some wilkinson sword gel.
Now I just use them dry. As user(s) mention above, they can take a few attempts to give an even shave, and leave you with a rash. But ultimately, you don't really need a mirror to be shaving so can do it anywhere.
I did try the OneBlade a few months ago, as folks said they were the best thing ever. I think folks saying that, haven't used other razors. It gave no better/no worse results that a rotary like the one in this thread. But it feels a lot cheaper, and is a lot more fragile. Mine broke in my travel bag.
Whereas my AT890 gets some abuse.
Ill probably go for this, as Ive been thinking about replacing mine.

Maybe if you have thin fine hair these are fine (the guys who can never grow facial hair) but for me my Phillips was a face shredder. Heavily discounted in Sainsbury's too. It maybe that many men aregoing with stubble?
