can they be cut as i'm thinking they'd be good behind the tv

7y 28d#4
Yes they can as i have one behind my bed. If you are just shortening the strip with no intention using the "cut off" part, then you will be fine.

I got one from Amazon plugs into the usb port on the tv so comes on and off as tv is turned on and off. It lights up the entire wall and ceiling and was £6.99 - amazon.co.uk/gp/…1Q/

I like the look of this. Did you stick it at the top of the TV at the back?

I actually just set it loose with the LEDs facing up. I ran it from the USB port up and down through the wires on back of tv - its so light it sits well. Pic shows the LED lighting up the wall round the TV and thats with room lights on full(was just a pic of after I painted living room).

Got mine from Amazon also but 4 quid dearer due to having a wireless remote which for our needs is worth it (TV is an 8 yr old Panny plasma with no USB slot).

Also got ours from Amazon but paid a fiver more for one with a wireless RC (our TV is an 8 year old Panny plasma with no USB port).
As Scope said, you can get vanilla USB versions for super cheap. Here's one that comes with app-controlled colour changing capabilities for £10.

My led strip seems to constantly lose its connection, I reset them and hours later they are offline. Anyone have a similar issue and / or know a fix. All my other smart lights / plugs etc are fine.

Was in Home Bargains Belle Vale today and they had Prestige 5 metre LED multi colour light strip with remote control for £14.99, they had quit a few, can get cheaper on the net but worth a look. Can not see the difference between phone remote other than can light up outside house?

Wanting one of these but does it come with a uk plug or do i need an adapter? If so what plug do i need to buy?
Also, can you turn it on/off with the app or just change color? As im guessing it doesn't automatically turn off with tv like the usb ones.
Thanks for any help

No UK plug. Mine came supplied with an adaptor that was highly dangerous. So if it comes with one, bin it right away and source your own one.

Thanks for the reply, im gonna go for it. Is it just a universal uk plug adapter i need? I'll probably get one locally.
I had a cheap led strip and the adhesive kept coming off as it had bend around the corners of the tv. Does this strip go around the corners easily?
Deedie to azza452
7y 28d#29
I got my adaptor from poundland. As for the corners, if you mean around the outside edge, then it might be ok. If you mean bend it at 90degrees while stuck to the back of the TV, then no chance.

Ye thats what i mean, want it to go around the back of the tv. I'll figure something out

As I understand it, it's the same app as the yeelight bulbs (which I have).
Meaning you can turn it on and off and set timers, through the app.

thanks
ive ordered one but not sure how long it will take, never bought from gearbest before
5m is just enough to go around a 65" TV.. It comes with 3M self adhesive backing tape, so perfect for the job.

Purchased all of my strip lights from LED Hut, an been able to extend or change the length to my needs. I have many Xiaomi products and no issue with them. I started off with a cheap LED strip on the back of the TV give it a few hours and the strip started to peel off from the heat of the TV set.
Like you said your paying for the name. If they made sensors, connectors, longer strips then maybe I wouldnt be saying anything an purchasing one to give it a try.

No the strips was my first encounter some cheap ones off eBay, I cant comment on the Xiaomi strips but they look good but not for my specific needs.

For the TV it would be far better to get a strip with USB connection, so it will switch on and off with the TV, if connected in the TV's usb port.. I've got one from aliexpress and it only cost me $5 - it really enhances the TV viewing in the evenings.

Item description states works with Alexa but on the Q&A bit says it doesn't.
Yeah, from the set up video it shows the transformer, so do NOT wire these into your lighting circuit directly.
I need something like this but hardwired to ligthing ring as I alreayd have kitchen cabinet light wiring in place.

Needs to be plugged in as mains to ELV transformer is built into the plug section.

But then, you're paying for the brand name. Xiaomi is like Apple to mainland China. A top tier level business. You can buy cheaper but at what price for higher quality control.
