A portable, simple WiFi amplifier (repeater) which increases your WiFi signal in areas where your WiFi signal isn't strong.
Description: ● Lightweight (only 30 grams), you can carry it and pair it with routers easily. ● No need to switch the hotspot, double your WiFi signal's power ● Special USB power supply unit, the USB can be rotated 180 degree. ● Can automatically detect the connection state and strength of signal. ● Plug and play, no need to install any drivers. ● Can be powered by a power bank or a USB charger.
Note this is the English Version so the app would be in English and not in chinese!

Have two of these at home back in China, work really well, nothing to lose at this price IMO

Which app do you know? I've ordered one a week ago so knowing how to set up would be great
The "Mi Home" App (on Android anyway). Also controls/interracts with dozens of their other devices/gizmos eg the Yeelight LED lights often seen on HUKD.

Slightly less if you let PayPal do the currency conversion, and probably even less if you have a fee-free credit card. (Allegedly) faster shipping too. Thanks for the link.

Excellent device. Just ordered two more after receiving one last week. Was getting zero reception at the bottom of the garden, 30 metres from the router. With this getting steady 20 to 25 Mbps.

Read online you have to change the security type on your sky router, once the extender is setup you can change back to original type (WPA, WPE etc.)

this device works great but as with all repeaters sucks the wifi / internet dry: I found my internet performance drastically reduce: it seems they halve bandwidth at times which is a real pity

I'd imagine the App just programme the USB stick's flash memory with the SSID/password of your WiFi Access Point so yes. It's not like your phone has to be on/there for Mi devices to work. (That said the USB stick MAY rely on your Mi Account to find out which SSID/password to continue to use - though it'd only get to the a/c thru the cloud via your Wifi AP I guess, so don't try to delete your Mi Account, just uninstall the App on your phone.)

Would you be able to just plug and play with these once you have the app - I'd be looking at using it with hotel wifi and I'm not sure if it would work.

So am I right in thinking that once this is charged, you can just walk around the house with it? Sorry if that sounds like a stupid question but I've only ever seen the ones that you leave plugged into an electric socket before.. Mind blown.. This is some sorcery! How long does it last once charged? Thanks!
Crossbow to richarddavies1
13 Sep 17#34
Good question actually. It needs to be plugged into a USB power source to work (it's not chargeable) - so something like a switched-on PC/laptop or pre-charged powerbank or similar.

They are talking about sky q which is tv that is sent over wifi to a box not connect to a dish. It will work with a sky router for Internet just like any other router.

Sorted it - result, its terrible. Better speeds on 1 bar wifi than 4 bars extender.
Possibly OK for someone who requires a portable garden wifi, don't bother otherwise.

Initial assessment is great, I used to put my worthless network card on a usb extender to the window and get my mothers landline broadband so i stuck this in the window now I can use it around the house its slightly slower as it repeats. I couldnt spread football anyway but may pay to upgrade mum to fttc instead of my 64gb EE 14.50 deal.

Has anybody got theirs yet? I ordered mine after this thread, but have not received it yet. It was stuck at Status as "Arrival at export hub" for a very long time and has only now moved to "departure to country of destination". :disappointed:

Mine arrived today but times out when it gets to 89% or so. I've tried resetting etc but no luck. Using sky router by the way, which some people have said doesn't seem to work with it. I've also tried changing the router security setting but still no success.

Works fine for me on a Sky router, after trying just the 2nd time using the video below:
First reset it & try again:
Before trying to pair, don't forget to switch on Bluetooth on the device you've installed the app.
Choose 'Mainland China' as instructed, & add a new device manually. I didn't have to select it from a list as the video shows. It added itself, just going back & forth on that screen a few times.
Now running my phone in another room connected to the Mi's Wi-Fi with all 4 Wi-Fi icon connection bars lit, where normally I'd get only 1-2 bars lit from the regular router's Wi-Fi connection.

Mine arrived today as well.
Been messing around with it for almost 3 hours but no luck at all.
I can see the default SSID but the app can't find the device for the life of me.
Can anyone shed some light on to this or should I just put it in the bin already?

I'm using a BT router.
I finally managed to get it working. For some reason my Chinese phone wasn't seeing the repeater. Used a friend's Samsung and went through just fine (via the MiHome app). Once configured and set up, connected to the repeater on my Chinese phone and everything was working fine. I'm assuming that the wireless chipset on the repeater just doesn't like my phone or vica versa.
Also a lot of people are having issues with the app and the new server. I found that the Taiwanese server worked a treat for me.

Mine arrived yesterday. Plugged it into a USB power supply. Went into Android MiHome App and it didn't automatically show/find it, but went into "+" to manually add and selected the item and after a couple of run throughs of setting up it seemed to get to 100% and I found a new "Mi WiFi Repeater 2" tile in my MiHome devices, where you can select whether to leave it be an extra WiFi Access Point - defaults to same as original SSID with "_plus" added or else to use as "WiFi Roaming" ie repeating the SSID of your main WiFi AP. Shows a version 2.0.28 (Up-to-date).
