Not sure how Argos deal.with things when they mess it up, but may be worth a go.
The RRP for the new XZ1 is £599.
For the XZ1 Compact it is £499.
Argos have a pre order up for the XZ1 for £399. The title does not say it's the.compact, but the description is for the compact, but maybe we'll.worth trying and take a screenshot before ordering, etc. So if you do 'go for it' and it works it's a saving of £200 on the regular size phone, and if you end up with the compact it is still a saving of £100.
I was very tempted myself.as I love the Sony Compact phones of before, but I feel that it will be reduced around Xmas anyway (I am waiting till its under £300 myself, in the meantime my Z3C still going great

Battery life is shocking. Why would you bother settling for this under the guise of a so called premium brand when there is far better options available. Having had 3 xperia's they have gotten progressively worse. Stay away from PHONY...

How do you know what the battery life is like ?
Going by the Z3Compact it was one of the best around when it came out for battery life.

Just put an order and it was accepted. Let's see what happens....
Frankly, I too am massively happy with my Z3c but the fact that the OS is moving 64-bit and there is unlikely to be any possible upgrade beyond 6.0.1 is a problem.

I'm a bit more hopeful after calling. Yesterday it wouldn't go through and I was told they would call back. They didn't, but today I was told it's because they're sending them straight from the manufacturer. I'm awaiting a call back to confirm it's gone through :-)

It has all latest specification for the price of £400..720 p screen is great for mobile as it save battery life and give excellent gaming performance and frame rates . this mini phone will be benchmark champion but still wish it had 3000Mah battery and not sure whether camera quality is equivalent of pixel ,S8 and others flagships
jazzuk777 to Desi.Guy

I doubt the camera quality will be very good based on previous Sony flagships

Not sure where we're getting the 4.7" screen from it's not an iPhone  the XZ1 Compact has a 4.6" screen...
Nevertheless a good price compared to the CPW at of £499.
Hot deal for the price. I think they've skimped putting a 1920x1080 screen on this though for a "flagship" model.

It's 4.7", I really don't think 1080p is necessary.
I moved to the S7 from the Z3 Compact and to be honest don't notice the difference with the HD screen. I do, however, miss the compact size of the Sony which meant I could use it one-handed..
Oi, quit laughing at the back!
Seriously though - if the camera is (finally) really good on this phone then I'll switch back to Sony. Here's hoping.

2700 mAh is plenty for a small 720p screen with a 10nm SOC (835). It'll likely have great battery life. The bigger XZ1 is what I'd be concerned about

I always have wifi problems with Sony phones. I used to have an original Xperia Z which had poor wifi so move to Samsungs... no problem at all. Recently my wife got a new Sony and again poor wifi.
