The phrase came before the film.

The film 'Can't buy me love' was named after a Beatles song by the way - the Fab Four didn't write it for the soundtrack

Where is that quoted in the '40 Year Old Virgin' ?

Or are you suggesting people should just take it as a kind of 'linked to the film 40 year old virgin joke' ?
ezzer72
28 Sep 17 #190
It was a ‘40 year old virgin’ joke, not the most offensive thing anyone has ever read I’m sure

Another Nintendo deal, another opportunity for you to tell us how many you are getting/how much you are making.

I think it makes you look a bit silly to be honest, but I presume you get some pleasure from it, so I guess it’s worth it. Plus I get something to moan about, which makes me happy, so win win, I suppose.

I have posted a deal and it got merged, maybe I should post stock alerts and -£1 RRP trollop like most, some people live on here and treat it like a full time job, not everyone can just sit on websites refreshing until a deal comes on, you'll notice 90% of posts are the same person who no lifes the deals, posting deals isnt the only contribution to the site, if you think so go tell the mods or something, adding heat and being active on the site keeps it going aswell, get off your high horse

yep, i'd be amazed if its not a reality within 2 weeks of release. Pretty sure its the almost exactly the same gubbins as the mini nes but in a different casing.

More jiggery pokery needed because of the larger rom file size but that's really dep on how much flash ram is on board but if there isn't then some form of compression will fix that.

Until Friday comes, no-one knows how much stock there is - regardless of ‘friend of a friend’ rumours. The Wii was in short supply for two Xmas’s in a row, Nintendo love to ramp up the hype. No-one knows the demand either - not every man and his dog will be queuing up for it.

What wouldn’t surprise me is the amount of people that don’t even know it’s being released - it’s those people that may increase demand next week.

For us who are on sites like this, hopefully we’ll all get one no problem.

Al7777
27 Sep 17 #86
Because for the past 15+ years there has been no way to legally purchase these games digitally thus it was a legal grey area. Nintendo have awful distribution which is why this thing is getting heat when it's OVER the rrp. The higher ups at nintendo are living in the past sadly hence 'old man's club' and Japan's culture regarding age. Look at Sega. I own all the games on steam and happily paid along with my library of 700 plus.
Al7777

It's not piracy it's a legal grey area. I've spoken to a lawyer about it a few years ago.
Al7777

1 never pre-order it's bad for the industry. 2 have you read any news regarding Nintendo's awful distribution and artificial scarcity of stock. They gave 3 nes consoles PER STORE last year and don't get me started in the Wii launch and amiibo.

It's a nice looking console, small enough and pretty enough to sit next to any TV in your house. It comes with two, new SNES controllers and HDMI cables. It has dual modes to show games in 'pixel perfect' or CRT mode (some games look better in the latter) and you have the ability to 'rewind' games a small amount as well as save/freeze progress. The games themselves are genuine and perfectly emulated classics, many of which play as well now as they did at the time.

£70-£80 is absolutely fine in my book, and I say that as someone who takes great pleasure in building his own PC's.

is the nostalgia of having that old skool looking console & some controllers in your hand....
...with the ability to just plug it into a HDMI socket.

The deal is on the items price, not whether its worth buying the item, thats a personal decision.
Wullie32
27 Sep 17 #62
I know how to emulate, I've done it on both my Wii and my DS. Not really the point though is it? This is a deals website, letting people know where and how they can buy things legally, yet a substantial amount of the replies on this item and others like it are always "just commit software piracy instead".

I don't get it. Retro games seems to be the only category of items where this is fair game.

It’s a win/win when doing a bit of scalping.

That might be a place holder price until they know what stock they actually get, or it's someone with a serious case of optimism.

Even though it isn't even released yet they always sell on eBay at way above rrp, anywhere from £100-160. That's silly IMHO, seeing as no one knows what stock levels will be like as the previous selling out of pre orders has been artificially inflated by all the del boys buying them up.

Can't tell either way, I'd like to see enough stocks for all but it's nintendo so just have to remember previous years for unavailability of their consoles at Christmas time.

Is it a delivery or click and collect? As my order at £69 has been sent but another click collect order done following day is £79 but the email confirmation does say if price drops before release it will be matched automatically.
BIGUSHEADUS to gemvis
27 Sep 17 #31
Just says pre-order and gives the store location and says it will be dispatched from their warehouse so I am guessing its click and collect? The thing is I was in such a rush to buy it I completely forgot to sign in to my account.

Edit: Yea after reading yours again mine sounds like your £79 order.
gemvis to BIGUSHEADUS
27 Sep 17 #33
Yea if it's got your local store address then it's a click and collect you'll get charged either late tomorrow I think with a confirmation to collect on friday or if your local smyths is like mine there doing a midnight opening for the mini snes and fifa.

Out of interest, has your parcel began tracking? Mine still says “Your parcel will be with us soon” on Yodel’s website. It was dispatched on Monday evening too

It was Nintendo UK who gave it an RRP of £69.99 - £79.99. The RRP is only a guide, retailers can charge what they want.

Nintendo have said there shouldn’t be an issue with stock this time.
And that they are continuing supply into 2018.

So I’d suggest just give it time before supply catches up with demand, and don’t buy from scalpers!

I really hope this becomes reality and that scalpers are left with consoles that they can’t sell anymore.
otterboxer
27 Sep 17 #34
I wouldn't think john lewis were allocated that much stock so it probably wont make that much of a dent come 'scalpfest' this weekend.

I think most would pay the £10 over RRP and considering this first run isn't very unit heavy, that's an ok price.
Neostar

It's really annoying that every retail store is doing these for £79.99 they should be £69.99 :disappointed:
nihir to Neostar
27 Sep 17 #3
Totally agree, looks like £69.99 was misprice as Smyths and Argos have their price changed now.
TobiRIP to nihir

Argos have changed their price?

I heard price will be £79.99 when it will back in stock. Smyths have definitely upped their price thou

Don’t forget that this offer includes free delivery too, I’m sure Nintendo didn’t factor in the cost of a courier service at £69.99

I imagine Nintendo will have a larger margin in a Nintendo product, than other retailers.

I would imagine, I think Nintendo store UK is run by the hut group iirc so not sure what arrangement they have

If we the buying public don't kick up a fuss about the overcharging it will become the norm.

I think that would work when supply is high and demand is low, but in this case, just be happy if you can get one for under £100.
