So I pre-ordered mine months ago and they're telling me there is a delay in getting mine because they're out of stock. Yet they were offering them on Prime Now???

Can't you get an original on eBay for this price?
UltimatePhoenix to Jonnyblock
29 Sep 17#72
And then get the games to go with it??? I bet Secret of Mana and Mario RPG will cost a fortune, I remember selling DK for at least £40 in its box, Super Mario World red box £30, this is alot cheaper than buying a large original Plus HDMI, and unreleased Star Fox

Alright you've sold me. Although I do have the original in the loft.

A miniature SNES with 21 games...why on earth are these so popular? Do they have some other feature that I don't know about??

nostalgia
Seanspeed to totneschap
29 Sep 17#55
Not even just that, though. I still think
- A Link to the Past is the best Zelda game ever made.
- Super Mario World is the best Mario game. At the very least the best *2d* Mario.
- Final Fantasy VI is the best Final Fantasy. It helps that the SNES version is still considered the best version as well.
And that's on top of many other games that still hold up entirely well today. This system is packed with proper classics from what was the first 'golden age' of games. Classics that stand the test of time.
totneschap to Seanspeed
29 Sep 17#57
Couldn't agree more, the snes was my first console and I wish that I never got rid of it.
A link to the past was my first ever Zelda and is right up there with Ocarina of Time, Super Mario World is incredible. Never played FFVI, shame on me!
Street Fighter, Super Metroid, Star Fox....all of them are classics!
They are a few glaring omissions though, chrono trigger, earthworm jim, mortal kombat to name a few

And pilotwings is missing, for shame.

29 Sep 17#58
You forgot to mention that Secret of Mana is awesome.
Seanspeed to badboyofrock
29 Sep 17#63
Oh yea I love Secret of Mana. And I'd much rather play the original than this new abomination of a remake they're doing.
I think some will argue it's a bit dated nowadays in terms of gameplay, though. It can be a bit easy, bosses are just magic attack spam fests and hit detection can be wonky. But it's still fun and super charming if you ask me. Great variety of enemies and environments and satisfying(though basic) progression systems. Plus local co-op.
A bunch of other really good games there like Mario RPG, Metroid, Castlevania, Yoshi's Island 2, DKC, Street Fighter 2 and Earthbound that are genuinely still fun to play today, too.
I really couldn't say the same for the NES Mini where the vast majority of games just haven't held up and I think it relied a lot more on genuine nostalgia than the SNES Mini will.

well for me they have original controllers, and also they offer the ability to be hacked an add even more snes roms
voodooboard to Krinkle
29 Sep 17#42
The main reason they're popular is that the NES mini was hard to get hold of and people assumed the same with this. I'm sure there's some name for it but basically the rarity drives an irrational demand.
Anyway this time around it seems like it wont be hard to get hold of.
I grew up with NES and SNES but being honest most of the games on this are rubbish to play nowadays. I can see a lot of these things sitting around unused after people have had their 5 minutes of novelty and gone back to their Xbox or PS4.
You'd be much better off to buy a used wii
Malachi_X to voodooboard
29 Sep 17#44
Missed the point
voodooboard to Malachi_X
29 Sep 17#48
I didn't miss any point, I answered the question. People are going mad to get these because there is a perception that they're hard to get. "Oh quick I better grab one before they sell out" without thinking if you really want it.
It's an irrational demand, the product itself isn't that good. Most of them will be consigned to cupboards and attics after a few hours, same as NES mini.

Appreciate people are climbing over one another for these (my pre-order arrived today, it'll be on the projector in the office this afternoon hopefully!), but how is this hot?
It's a tenner over RRP, I actually can't believe companies like John Lewis are ripping people off.
(no offence to this OP or any of the others, appreciate people are being helped)

Well they've not been releasing stock in dribs and drabs like some retailers, they've released nothing since initial pre-order, so I would say they deliberately held the new stock for launch day, still in stock for me after 50 minutes ....

Looking at eBay they are selling and averaging about £120.
M_z to migavupe
29 Sep 17#25
Although, if there is plenty of stock in the shops and lots of people have bought to sell on eBay, that price could easily drop. However, never underestimate the number of people who think something is a bargain simply because it is on eBay!
CaptainSocks to migavupe
29 Sep 17#30
Yeah, loads at BIN around that price.
Very few of the auctions going past £100 though.
Minus eBay fees. Minus PayPal. (Around 15%)
A lot of hassle for £5-£10 profit tbh.
