Out of Stock but good deal if it comes back in stock. Shows the VR lens in the photo.
D3300 is also a good camera if you can find one. This has the ultrasonic sensor cleaner, higher power flash and a mic port which are missing from the D3400.

I can't believe this doesn't even have wi-fi - what the hell(?). Also, you can apparently only transfer downsized 2MP photos via the bluetooth (??)
I noticed there is a high percentage of negative Amazon reviews and they seem to suggest there is no warranty card and no UK charger in the box. Someone also said their instructions were completely in Spanish(??). :unamused: Is this a grey import?

4 Sep 17#30
Well, that's what I assumed but then saw the reviews. Hopefully
you're right, however, I'm not as confident about it as you are. Amazon
have sent me a lot of electrical stuff this year that was advertised as
being UK versions with UK 3 pin plugs, but turned out to be imported with non-UK plugs on
them when they were delivered. These were all purchased direct from them brand new - they don't
seem to know what they're doing when you contact them about these kind
of issues. Also, I've found a lot of their product listings are always
massively incorrect and the people writing them clearly don't understand the products at all. I find I constantly have to get their product listings removed / completely changed due to massive errors in them. You wouldn't believe how many
times this has happened on stuff I've purchased from them - a lot of it
is expensive electrical stuff too. Anyway, hopefully this deal works out well for everyone.

Hi - mine was shipped yesterday and I'm waiting to confirm that it's the VR lens. Right now it's still "out for delivery" and I'm stuck at home waiting for it. They wouldn't ship to a locker, but that may have been something to do with the new credit card that I used.
The £75 off was a coupon that was only valid for purchases from Amazon themselves. When you manage to get to the page showing the Amazon supplied version (which I did by clicking it in the list on the right of the screen and then selecting that item when looking at it in the basket) then the voucher shows up.
gingerwarrior13 to fishz

10 Sep 17#71
I'm not sure how helpful it is but here you go - I blanked the personal information obviously: My order was placed on 4th Sept but updated on 5th to reflect the better voucher offer.
I had a second order on another account that I have cancelled now. That one was not shipped/fulfilled.
I've been watching this camera on Amazon for a while and I know that they offer the best discounts when it's out of stock and then raise the price (remove vouchers etc.) when it's back in stock. My guess is that this just stops people from going elsewhere and that they will eventually send out all orders... I also suspect that there'll be a new model from Nikon before Christmas but that's pure speculation from a non-photographer!

I spoke to someone on Amazon Webchat yesterday, and they're going to "hand-hold" my query to find out what is going on.
I said to the person that Amazon have offered this phone camera at a price they couldn't fulfil, and that wasn't the consumers fault. There appears to be stock from other companies selling on Amazon, so said that they should buy those cameras and fulfil our order at the price they offered.
Who knows how that will turn out!
Master_Yoda to gingerwarrior13
13 Sep 17#81
The problem isn't that Amazon have offered this phone at a price they can't fulfil. The problem is that they don't currently have any stock(?). The fact that they are still selling it for the same price we paid show that they don't have any issue with the actual sale price. They can't give us stock that effectively belongs to other sellers on Amazon - plus you wouldn't want them to do that anyway as you could end up with grey imports. It's better to just let Amazon source proper stock and take their time.

I ordered mine on the 5th of September, I'm not in much of a hurry to get mine but this wait is an absolute joke. Amazon shouldn't be taking orders if they can't fulfil them for 6 weeks plus.
Pathetic service, Amazon have gone downhill recently.
Master_Yoda
21 Sep 17#102
I spoke to Amazon recently and they claimed they were struggling to find a supplier and didn't know when it would be shipped out - they suggested I cancel my order lol. They are however selling and fulfilling orders for the exact same camera with same VR lens for other sellers and have been constantly since we ordered this - I asked them how they seem to have plenty of stock for other sellers, and they didn't give me an answer - I don't trust them. I've noticed they've done this exact same tactic on quite a few other items I've ordered over recent months seemingly just to lure people onto their site. With all those items though, the item kept getting delayed further every month and it dragged on for months on end. Those items had estimated expected delivery dates from the point of order - this one doesn't even have that.
Let's face it - if they really wanted to send people's orders out, they could have easily done so ages ago - a retailer the size of Amazon would have no issues getting stock. Every day that passes, this camera is technically worth less money and the original deal swings more in their favour - they are effectively saving a lot of money by using these tactics. They inevitably also get tons of free advertising, other sales while we're there and extra traffic. Each day that passes, they also know full well that more and more people will cancel. If this takes months to ship, this deal may be crap. It is ludicrous that they are still allowing people to place orders weeks later, whilst telling me they can't get stock and to cancel my order lol.
fishz
22 Sep 17#103
I got mine about two weeks ago and I'm really happy at £285. If there isn't a better deal available (for this or something similar) or you don't need it immediately, why cancel the order? You can easily cancel anytime before they ship (and/or return it after it ships.)
I watched this for a while before ordering and I know for sure that they reduce the price when it's out of stock and then put the price back up again when they get the stock. Personally, I'm convinced that they'll ship it when they have the stock, and they *will* get the stock. If they didn't ship mine, I'd hold on because I've not seen any deal on an SLR as good as this for a long time.
The other marketplace sellers may not be authorised Nikon sellers and are not being supplied by Amazon. Amazon will get their stock direct from Nikon without a wholesaler being in the middle.... they're vast!

30 Sep 17#155
I'm totally confused. The deal with promo never went below £279 at any point, so why would Amazon lower the price to £259 for you? Your receipt shows an incorrect item price of £334 instead of £354(?). I just double checked CCC and the price of this camera has never gone below £354 on Amazon - doesn't make any sense at all. The extra £20 discount you received on the £279 price, doesn't appear to be a goodwill gesture/credit on your receipt, but due to an incorrect item price. How the hell did you manage that lol? I'm impressed - you must be a Jedi. This is also at the same time as they were blanket cancelling everyone's orders at full price and refusing to do anything to help anyone(?). Did you have to shout at them and order them to give you it for £259 or did their staff just not understand what you were talking about lol?

fishz to Wowhats
1 Oct 17#173
Yup - UK warranty, not a grey import.
I got an Amazon basic over shoulder bag that's big enough for the camera and accessories. As DSLRs go, I think think this is relatively small so most generic cases will fit. Should maybe think about lens cleaners, filters and the other stuff that you might end up carrying with it and go big.
Glad these are finally coming through. I must have been quite lucky to have got mine a few weeks ago and very pleased with mine so far. Just deciding on a good zoom to go with the included kit lens... another money pit I've found for myself!

1 Oct 17#161
This is disappointing from Amazon. Orders were cancelled due to no stock. However, the day after the £75 off promotion finishes and the price is increased to £449, they immediately have stock available. Well done for those that re-ordered, chances are now that there is stock you will get one. But for those that didn't re-order, this feels like a kick in the nuts from Amazon. It may be worth a chat with them to see if anything can be done, although getting them to come down from £449 to £279 may be tough.

Oh man - just read these comments. Did anyone receive a UK model?? What the hell is wrong with Amazon? I haven't received mine yet and am not sure I even want to now - did anyone contact Nikon regarding the warranty for confirmation? Surely buying it direct from Amazon UK should give a valid full warranty from Nikon?(?)
Also - can't Nikon just send an English manual / UK charger for everyone affected?
rev6 to Master_Yoda
3 Oct 17#190
Good points. I think you have a year with Amazon regardless, how long is it with Nikon? I'm sure I read a year somewhere.
Might be a good idea to contract Nikon about it. Those official chargers are damn expensive.
Manual can be downloaded here so it's not a big deal for me. I find myself using PDF's more than physical manuals lately.
Just checked Nikon's website - for some reason I thought a camera like this would have at LEAST 2 or 3 years manufacturer's warranty. Just read on their website it says all countries in Europe including Germany and the UK only get 1 Year manufacturer's warranty from date of purchase... What the hell? That's literally nothing for something retailing at £500 - they must not expect it to last. I normally download manuals so for me, it appears the only real problem is the charger...(?). Saying that, if we ever sell the camera later on, I'm sure everything being in German and having a wrong charger will mean we lose a lot of money.
rev6 to Master_Yoda
3 Oct 17#194
Yes. The real problem is the charger. And the fact they sent out a German/EU model
Master_Yoda to rev6
3 Oct 17#195
If you look at the Amazon 1 star reviews - people have complained they have been sent out EU versions/chargers of this camera from Amazon UK since at least December of last year. Amazon are purposely still sending out non-UK versions - this is not some one-off mistake but very calculated behaviour by Amazon - they will know they are sending out non-UK versions to UK customers and are effectively ripping people off.

Dude, I hope you're not yanking everyone's chain. I tried again, and pointed out what was given to you, but Amazon made clear it's not even possible for someone to get more than 20% discount on their systems and made me out to be lying. Their systems don't even allow it - I had to fight to speak to a Manager - took me 4 attempts. When i got through to a manager, they confirmed the same. The manager was of no help at all. Got nowhere being nice to them. Got nowhere fighting with them. They refused to do anything - they refused to cover the costs of a UK charger or manual etc. They gave me two options:
Option 1: Told me to go and buy a 2 pin plug adapter for £7 and said I would have to pay for this myself lol - wow.
Option 2 - Refund and reorder camera again (full price)
Manager would not offer anything else.
How the hell can some people get 40% discount and other customers get nothing but grief - there's nothing else I could have done or said - literally, I tried everything and spent ages dealing with their staff.

3 Oct 17#219
Just for information, mine came a few weeks ago with UK & EU connectors that can be attached to the charger. Pretty sure it's a UK one with an EU wide 12 month warranty, which is way too short.
I think a lot of people will consider buying a two battery charger with spare batteries, in which case, have a EU charger for travel might not be too bad. However, I thought that retailers *must* supply electrical stuff with UK plugs.
Master_Yoda
3 Oct 17#220
Explained everything to Nikon - they made clear they can't replace individual parts like manuals or chargers. They said if you get a non-english manual in
your D3400 box, Nikon charge £25 to send the correct english version out and that it happens alot - I bet it does(!). They also made clear it would be £45 to send out the correct UK charger. They can't even send out or sell the UK connectors for the charger seperately - you
have to buy the entire charger again - only way to get the removeable UK
connector part (...). They made clear that Amazon should sort this out and send the correct UK version out or cover the costs of getting the correct parts - spoke to Amazon, told the only option is to send the entire camera back for a refund(?). Would not even offer an exchange. Amazon said the only way to try and get the correct UK version is to go on the website and put the order through again i.e. at full price with no discount lol.
Amazon also said they can't send any replacement parts out, even though I pointed out that Amazon themselves are currently selling the correct UK charger we all need. They also refused to cover the costs of getting the parts from Nikon or elsewhere. I also mentioned what some people here were offered regarding a refund and compensation to source the correct UK version camera elsewhere - they refused to do anything like that for me. Amazing customer services from all involved.
Also - I just double checked something regarding the warranty as this 1 Year warranty doesn't sound right to me. I previously owned a Nikon D3100 (UK Version) and just saw that indeed had a 2 YEAR NIKON WARRANTY... We are definitely getting a crap deal on the warranty.
DAMNOME to Master_Yoda
3 Oct 17#223

Master_Yoda to DAMNOME
3 Oct 17#199
I doubt if you buy another one, you will get a UK version. You will
seriously just get the same again. Also Amazon don't like you returning
items - doesn't make any difference if they are at fault. They mess my
orders like this all the time and despite returning the items brand new
and unused and them being 100% at fault and them apologising, they then
send you a seperate email threatening to close your Amazon account and
steal your entire giftcard balance if you do more returns. They will be
your best friends until one day this suddenly happens. Doesn't matter if they
are at fault - if for any reason they decide you've returned more than
they want, they threaten to ban you. Email comes from [email protected] - they
have done this to countless people if you look online and has happened
to me many times. I tend not to return items to Amazon anymore as they
pull this BS on me every time and threaten to close my account if I do
any returns.
Just to give you an idea, I spend a lot of money on
Amazon - out of the last 25 items I purchased from Amazon - I didn't
return anything - nothing at all. Despite this, when they
single-handedly cancelled this camera order due to having no stock, they
even saw this as a red flag and this actually triggered a threatening
email saying I was returning too many items and they would close my
account and take my entire giftcard balance if it continues lol. I
didn't even return anything. They are basically criminals breaking the
law. If you look online, this has happened to countless innocent people -
they close your account, permanently ban you for life and even your
relatives living at other addresses and you will never be able to use
Amazon again. They also steal your entire giftcard balance as standard
practice when they do this and pocket the money. If it happens to you,
there is no appeals process and nothing you can do. I no longer return
any items to Amazon, even when Amazon are 100% at fault or the items are faulty as I need my
Amazon account.

Update After a long conversation on webchat, they said they'd give me £35 credit to get the £48 Nikon UK charger. Told them a manager can then authorise the £48 credit so I am not out of pocket. Had to go away and do some work, and by the time I came back they'd closed the chat down.

They are lying constantly to me and are definitely not treating everyone equally - it's shocking. Didn't matter what I said to them - they wouldn't budge. This thread has been a massive eye opener on how amazon treat customers differently and I now think they obviously have a way of categorising/ranking customers depending on history.
My experience on this issue with live chat was pretty poor
- made me send photos of the charger, box and german manual - then told me it was the correct charger (I asked how I was supposed to charge the battery without a UK plug attached to it) - no alternatives offered initially other than repeatedly telling me to return for refund, the exact words being - "just send the camera back for a full refund"
However after 50 minutes and me repeatedly saying I wanted to keep the camera but needed a uk charger they did offer a refund to cover the cost of buying the charger but I felt the assistant thought I was making the problem up and scamming them!!

Well i wonder how will they deal with me. I got my canera tuesday evening- went on webchat and was told not to worry as nikon will solve it. They gave ne number to phone them first thing in the morning. Obviously nikon refused to deal with it and told me to go back to amazon. Went on webchat again yesterday and the girl told me to send the camera back for a refund as its health and safety issue and its illegal for amazon to sell camera with eu/german plus in the uk. I refused to sent it back as would be out of pocket to reorder a new one. She was insisiting on me and even- agains my wishes- put a refund request on the system and sent me some return labels! I'm totally shocked at how Amazon purposely treat everyone differently and how all of their staff lie so confidently - it's organised fraud and proper criminal behaviour. The same member of staff who is nice to you and bends over backwards to help you, will be nasty to me. The same member of staff who offers you 40% discount, will tell me to go jump and say they've never done anything like that for anyone. It's really disturbed me. Whenever they send the wrong goods or non-UK items (which they do constantly just like this camera) and I complain about it, they threaten to take my giftcard balance and close my account. I've been with them since their early days and spend a fortune with them. They are going to lose a lot of money by behaving like this with people. I've decided to try and stop using Amazon completely for my purchases - at present I buy everything from them. They don't deserve my business - I'd rather pay more and buy elsewhere.

So I am happy what I got. So don't be discouraged by if you spoke by chat and got refused try another method eg phone like me bcz you never know on the side someone might be able to help you. Thanks very much op and all members here for deal and their advice.

As i said earlier. After yesterday's failure in a webchat- and a Demand- for me to send camera back. I sent them an email today. Got respond within 20 minutes offering me a £90 to cover the cost of a new charger and manuals- and that money been sent to my ccard instead of amazon giftcard- which make it even sweeter.
Very happy with this result.
Thank you all for your comments

Received mine today - european charger and german manuals. Went on chat and been offered to return this camera initially( they are aware of this problem and investigating this ), said I want to keep it and they offered me £27.90 refund which I rejected but accepted £55 as a second offer. I still had my spare Nikon charger bought at car boot sale for 50p, so didn't try to push them for more. D3200 sold for £210 last week and new D3400 came out at £224  Happy days !

Having already had a £60 refund, & reading here that others had received £90 I returned to the online chat & was refunded straight away a further £30.
The way Amazon CS handled this is so random. How each agent has different options and amounts to refund. Ugh.

I've just tried to push them for more than £55 yesterday but been offered return label, nothing more :disappointed:

most peoples problems are from sense of entitlement though
amazon made a mistake sending german market items, they offered to refund it which is all they really need to do they then went beyond that with significant discounts to keep it if you dont like the discount offered then return it! you lose nothing apart from the fact you didn't blag what you thought you deserved!

I think anyone who's pushing Amazon for more than the 25% discount that Amazon are offering need to calm down. £200 for a D3400 is a ridiculous bargain.
Some people take getting a good deal to a whole new level of boorishness.

I ended up paying £137.15 for it and I only emailed them a few times.
I guess it’s just pot luck who you get picking up the emails or who you get through to on live chat.
Can anyone recommend a decent camera case?

It's totally ****** up. We have responses ranging from people being given nothing, to people being given approx. £142 with no effort at all. I have tried again and again and got nowhere - this is not a case of speaking to the right people and them sorting this out for you. I spoke to countless UK Amazon staff aswell as overseas Amazon staff, through call centres, live chat, email, lots of totally different managers. All became rude, full of attitude and lied when I told them what other people have been getting - all told me to buy an adapter for £7 myself and if I'm not happy to return the camera for a refund. They all said they couldn't send me out replacement parts or cover the costs of getting these as "Amazon don't do that". Would not even offer an exchange? ALL of them said they "can't comment" or "can't discuss" things further when I told them what other people have been offered and if you persist, they forcefully end the conversation.

I don't understand it but nothing I can do it seems. I'm just not sure the reasoning behind not offering anything to some and offering different amounts to others. I haven't tried the call centre route but I'm guessing that would be more of my time wasted on this Amazon error.

I recieved mine the other day, and after getting it out the box today realised it had a two pin eu charger, got on chat and they offered £27.90 to get a replacement charger, even though I was already charging it up via my toothbrush's 2 pin plug, then came on here and saw everyone having the same issues so got back on chat and they gave an extra £20 so all in all I paid £231 which I'm happy with and down loaded the user manual to my laptop which is alot easier to read. Not bothered about it being an import warranty wise as Amazon can sort it out within the 12 months and generally if I get issues with electricals it happens sooner rather than later.

The idiotic thing is, would have cost Amazon far less to just send everyone out the missing UK charger / UK manual. Why give some people nothing and others far more than they need to? A new UK charger/manual sent from Nikon themselves doesn't even cost £142 or £110 or £90 etc. Everyone would have been happy if they just sent out the parts that should have been in the box - would have cost them far less to do (especially as they would be buying at a much cheaper cost price). Amazon have demonstrated zero common sense, have pissed people off and haven't even saved themselves any money in the process.

Was looking at getting either 16/32gb of this card, do you think this will be ok?
I think the reason I had £142 refunded was because I ordered the camera on 5th October and went on live chat and asked for delivery date and was told end of October. I specifically asked if it would be delivered or if there was a possibility of it being cancelled and was told I would definitely receive the camera. Then they cancelled! So I reordered and was sent the German manual and charger. I went on live chat to complain about the complete mess on not specifically the EU charger. I also pointed out there were other sellers selling the camera for around £300 before the offer ended in 30th September. I was quite happy to send the camera back for the refund but they offered to either credit me the difference in price to buy the camera again from another seller as they were out of stock (originally they told me they would send a replacement - another mess up as they didn't have any) or refund me £142 and keep the camera. I was lucky to have the chat transcript for each time I spoke to them so it was easy to explain how they mislead me numerous times, perhaps that's why I and a few others had such a large refund when others just wanted money for a replacement charger.

It really is weird how they offer refunds to customers, yesterday they offered me the 10% with out even asking I just enquired about the plug but it did take a little effort to get an extra £20 to cover the cost of a new charger, (I won't bother though as the toothbrush adapter does the job) but whilst I was on chat I enquired about a spare part for a shed I recieved this week also as one piece had a small crack in it, even though box was undamaged, they said they can't order spares but they will arrange the return and send a new one, after I said don't worry as it will cost them a fair bit to do so the guy asked me to hold then returned and refunded the whole thing to say thanks for not returning. Which was more than the camera, Couldn't believe it.

*Offered 10% off camera(27.90) without asking, I was just enquiring about and adapter.
*I had to push a bit for the extra £20 as there were then wanting me to return the camera for a full refund telling me they don't stock UK models. But getting extra £48 in total off I was more than happy with that.
* I purchased a keter shed costing £297 and enquired about a spare part as one had a small crack in it which I only noticed at the end as it was a roof piece (it was only a few inches, but considering I was paying £300 for a shed I wanted it to be in perfect Condition) I was advised they can't source spare parts but i could get a replacement shed and return the damaged one which I declined as I didn't want them send out a whole new shed for me to have to return it with the broken piece in it. So it seems it really does depend on who you get through to and what mood they are in I suppose. As they can refund/partial refund with out any effort what so ever on your part or they can make you jump through hoops and happy to accept returns so as no to give anything, which on this occasion when I wasn't looking for money off they have just given it to me, but when I have tried to get a little extra they made me work for it

No sensor cleaning? No thanks.
D3300 is also a good camera if you can find one. This has the ultrasonic sensor cleaner, higher power flash and a mic port which are missing from the D3400.

I reckon this looks like a good entry level DSLR.
Had the £75 promotional voucher too (was £50 earlier today when I looked - so unsure what's happened here).
Thank you OP
Now to think about a case and memory card for it
I noticed there is a high percentage of negative Amazon reviews and they seem to suggest there is no warranty card and no UK charger in the box. Someone also said their instructions were completely in Spanish(??). :unamused: Is this a grey import?
75£off
You can use it only once for account..
I ended up caving in and buying as a back up... especially with the decent new kit lens.
The £75 off was a coupon that was only valid for purchases from Amazon themselves. When you manage to get to the page showing the Amazon supplied version (which I did by clicking it in the list on the right of the screen and then selecting that item when looking at it in the basket) then the voucher shows up.
My order was placed on 4th Sept but updated on 5th to reflect the better voucher offer.
I ordered mine the same day, so you've obviously been very lucky to get it.
Fingers crossed it will get fulfilled
Just opened the package and can confirm that it has the (better) VR lens option. What blinding deal.
Just signed up for the free photography course on here too. That's me sorted then :-)
I said to the person that Amazon have offered this
phonecamera at a price they couldn't fulfil, and that wasn't the consumers fault. There appears to be stock from other companies selling on Amazon, so said that they should buy those cameras and fulfil our order at the price they offered.Who knows how that will turn out!
Hope it arrvies!
, i just rang them standard answer please wait.. i dont know its been 3rd week now!
Pair this deal with it
hotukdeals.com/dea…333
Amazon shouldn't be taking orders if they can't fulfil them for 6 weeks plus.
Pathetic service, Amazon have gone downhill recently.
This deal should not be expired as it's still available
They assured me that I will definitely get mine before 26th of October and were happy to send the transcript of the chat to keep as proof. Suits me better as it's a Christmas gift so the delay is perfect warranty wise. No other deal gets close to this so I can get another lens to go with it and still be quids in :nerd:
Do you have proof that it's the £279 deal?
Just had the following from the WebChat -
Hello,
We’ve cancelled Nikon D3400 Digital SLR Camera - Black (Asin: B01KOADMG4) from your order #205-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXX and you haven’t been charged.
From time to time, items sold and dispatched by Amazon become unavailable and we’re unable to source them.
We’re sorry for the inconvenience caused.
Regards,

Amazon.co.uk
Think I won't moan this time, as I think they've just cancelled the order because I didn't take their offer of using one of the other sellers who had the price of the camera less than £354.00
Not sure whether to reorder, tbh.
Amazon are utterly useless
What a farce.
All I say is that - the man who passes the sentence should swing the sword...
Still yet couple of hours later was able to reorder ;/
The camera they've dispatched to you, basically should have been mine. Probably still has my name on it. Anyway, enjoy it. Let me know how good it is and if you like it.
Price has gone to £429 now on amazon, still showing out of stock. I did reorder yesterday before prices went up but will probably end up being cancelled again.
Mine was cancelled- reorder right away on the 26th but still no update....
Fingers crossed.
Well it seems like they are.. just at higher price.
Will wait until tomorrow and contact them again.
Check yours. Good luck
"Nikon D3400 Digital SLR Camera - Black"
Estimated arrival date: October 03 2017
Happy days.
Appreciate any suggestions.
Ever more of a bargain!
Dispatched. ere tomorrow.
Mine was cancelled and so I re-ordered straight away
Now showing as preparing for despatch and have debit showing on bank account
This has just popped up!!!
I'm not sure if the warranty's covered in the UK so I'm considering returning it
Also - can't Nikon just send an English manual / UK charger for everyone affected?
Might be a good idea to contract Nikon about it. Those official chargers are damn expensive.
Manual can be downloaded here so it's not a big deal for me. I find myself using PDF's more than physical manuals lately.
downloadcenter.nikonimglib.com/en/…tml
I’ll be going back online this evening to discuss further.
Not sure how they’ve gone and sent German products without saying on Amazon that they’re German.
downloadcenter.nikonimglib.com/en/…tml
And a shaver/toothbrush mains adaptor should sort out the charger problem.
No you idiots I want a UK one. Useless. Emailed back. See what they come back with next. Just hoping they've got it wrong and meant a UK one.
Me: I would like a replacement for a UK camera please
I pointed out their total mess up with them cancelling and having to re-order and saying I was getting replaced, then not, so they offered to either refund and credit the difference by gift card to purchase from another seller on Amazon or keep the camera and receive 40% discount back on my card - which I went for.
Got £111 refund so thanks OP.
I was offered 15% refund at most. Nothing else.
I think a lot of people will consider buying a two battery charger with spare batteries, in which case, have a EU charger for travel might not be too bad. However, I thought that retailers *must* supply electrical stuff with UK plugs.
Just to give you an idea, I spend a lot of money on Amazon - out of the last 25 items I purchased from Amazon - I didn't return anything - nothing at all. Despite this, when they single-handedly cancelled this camera order due to having no stock, they even saw this as a red flag and this actually triggered a threatening email saying I was returning too many items and they would close my account and take my entire giftcard balance if it continues lol. I didn't even return anything. They are basically criminals breaking the law. If you look online, this has happened to countless innocent people - they close your account, permanently ban you for life and even your relatives living at other addresses and you will never be able to use Amazon again. They also steal your entire giftcard balance as standard practice when they do this and pocket the money. If it happens to you, there is no appeals process and nothing you can do. I no longer return any items to Amazon, even when Amazon are 100% at fault or the items are faulty as I need my Amazon account.
Mine is coming tomorrow, I guess I can live with an adaptor considering the discount
Spoke online about the charger and they said that I can select one and they will then look to refund my account. Gave them the link to the Nikon UK charger (£48) and they said they can't order that (despite being on their website) and I have to buy from my local store and send them a receipt!
Update
After a long conversation on webchat, they said they'd give me £35 credit to get the £48 Nikon UK charger. Told them a manager can then authorise the £48 credit so I am not out of pocket. Had to go away and do some work, and by the time I came back they'd closed the chat down.
I received mine yesterday with German instructions and a 2 pin plug. Got in touch with amazon and was eventually offered either a full refund, or a partial refund of 25% (£68.50). Took the 25%. Ended up costing just over £200 in total.
Also - they told me they are not allowed to discuss why different customers get different discounts.
I take it all back about Amazon, they're gr8!
That’s effectively paid for my camera bag, memory card and screen protector
My experience on this issue with live chat was pretty poor
- made me send photos of the charger, box and german manual
- then told me it was the correct charger (I asked how I was supposed to charge the battery without a UK plug attached to it)
- no alternatives offered initially other than repeatedly telling me to return for refund, the exact words being - "just send the camera back for a full refund"
However after 50 minutes and me repeatedly saying I wanted to keep the camera but needed a uk charger they did offer a refund to cover the cost of buying the charger but I felt the assistant thought I was making the problem up and scamming them!!
Rude as hell.
I cancelled the refund request and sent them the email today. Will see what respond will be like.
In the mean time used a shaver plug and charged up my battery.
Amazon custommer service is funny ;/
I suppose I'm still happy with mine at around £270 though. I was watching the price for months before pulling the trigger and think it was a great price. If you're getting £40/£50 off on top of that, you've got nothing to complain about IMO.
...UK manual and UK part for the charger! Happy days, although I was almost looking forward to the challenge of seeing how much discount I could get via web-chat in a sadistic way!
I can't fault Amazon CS but feel for the people who've had problems.
I wonder if its possible to register this camera with Nikon UK, I assume under EU law this would be every bit as valid as a UK-specific camera.
Very happy with this result.
Thank you all for your comments
