It's similar. Ours has better build quality, but performance and the camera are better on the American one unfortunately.
The Mediatek version has some very odd image processing on both the E4 and E4 plus, where pictures are somehow both sharp and blurry at the same time. It's also limited to 720p capture (Snapdragon is 1080p).
The Mediatek version also can't play 720p60 videos properly on YouTube, it drops frames massively when the scene is complicated, which limits lots of videos to 480p (as you can't choose normal 720p in the app if a video is uploaded as 720p60).

Hi, you sound like you know what you are talking about. I have ordered this and the moto c plus for the Mrs. She is just after a simple straight out of the box phone for day to day use and the extra battery will not benefit her. To me this looks the better of the 2 phones, they both have the mediatek cpu but this looks to have a better front camera and of course NFC, the fingerprint scanner and additional sensors. Do you agree? I can't understand why the c plus deal got all the heat when this seems the better phone? Unless I'm missing something?

You aren't missing anything. The E4 is the better phone, especially considering both are the same price. It just has shorter battery life compared to the Moto C Plus.

OK thanks for your opinion. I thought I must be missing something with all the heat for the c plus deal. The voters on here are crazy sometimes!

Just picked mine up and the back is definitely plastic. Any way of identifying CPU model etc? Thanks

The construction is plastic on both models, but the UK version has a metal plate on the back side, the strips at the top and bottom of the back panel are plastic, but the rest; where the camera and M logo is situated is metal (it's almost identical in construction to the Moto G5) The US version is all plastic, and looks more like the Moto C.
The UK E4, E4 Plus, and C Plus all use the MT6737.
The most simple way of checking which model you have is by the XT model number (found on the packaging, or in Settings then About). The standard UK single SIM E4 is XT1761, the E4 Plus is XT1771.

Brilliant - thanks
Can now confirm it is metal and is the XT1761. Seems very quick but initally disappointed with the camera using stock app so put OPEN CAMERA app on it and set to max resolution and HDR mode and the pictures are pretty damn decent. Not up to the standard of my LG G4 but far superior to my old MOTO G1

Mediatek, no thanks. Looks like the Americans are getting the good :poop: . Lenovo is treating the Brits like 2nd class citizens lately with their mediocre models. Would like to see more USA models been posted on HUKD.

Just orderded one - like CanaryRuss I was after a C plus but Motorola put my order on hold then wanted me to wait 48 hours for someone to tell me why, so I cancelled and ordered this. Everything happens for a reason - now to find an unlock code ;-)
Thanks, I will try that one. All the ones I tried were the express 4 hour types. Trsxo say it takes 7 days!

Help! I've tried 3 or 4 unlock codes from eBay. They are telling me the emei number is not registered so they can't get me a code yet. Is there something I need to do first? Do I need to pop the tesco Sim in and top it up in order to get the emei number to register? I had no such bother with my su6. Any help from someone with the knowledge would be greatly appreciated
