A good set of hiking shoes from Merrell. Retail is £100 and I have seen some sale sizes at between £50-£70 on various sites (GoOutdoors, Snow&Rock) however those were for only a few sizes.
On Amazon most sizes are £50 including delivery (sizes 10, 10.5, 11 and 12 are slightly more but still less than retail *** see note below)
Merrell official description merrell.com/UK/…tml UPPER/LINING • Full grain leather upper • Bellows tongue keeps debris out • Abrasion resistant toe cap • Breathable mesh lining • M-Select FRESH naturally prevents odour before it starts • Ortholite® Anatomical Footbed
MIDSOLE/OUTSOLE • Moulded nylon arch shank • Merrell In-Board™ Compression moulded EVA foot frame provides cushioning • Merrell® air cushion in the heel absorbs shock and adds stability • 4.5mm Sole lug depth • Vibram® outsole
Weight: 340g
They have good reviews, however a number indicate Merrell sizing is out by 1/2 to a full size. I am a UK size 8 and had to take an 8.5 to avoid too tight a fit
*** size 10, 10.5 and 11 can also be obtained for £50 if you look on the right hand side under other sellers option. Only size 12 can't be obtained for £50 - thanks to Rhinopaul for noticing :ninja:

I've got a pair. Comfy, but terrible in the wet. Seem to absorb a lot of water in the rain.

I'm guessing looks aren't a priority when buying these.

Why do you say that?

Have sent a total of 3 pairs of Merrell hiking boots back over the year. The shortest lasted 1 month. Once the glue gets saturated holding the sole and body together it just disintegrates

That's strange. I climbed Snowdon in the rain in a pair and after going through the washing machine, they still look almost new a year on. I wonder if some of their designs are made better than others?

Maybe. Mine were the grassboc goretex. All three pairs failed at the same point

Where and at what price? Sports direct do not stock Merrell so I am a little sceptical

Why must all walking shoes have awful designs. Just make some plain black 'uns please without silly patterns.

Tried a pair and they are a narrow fit, bought a pair of Moab's the same size which were more comfortable as they're a wider fit.

10 is £65 + postage, shame as I rather like Merrells.

Merrell's are always smaller, so if you are a 10, go fo 11 (even 11.5 are usually fine)

Going by my other merrells a 10 is bang on, I'm really a 9.5.

Rhinopaul, well spotted - all bar size 12 can be ordered for £50, just didn't see the option on the right hand side for other sellers, for which the size 10, 10.5 and 11 are available sold by Amazon for £50 :ninja:

I have wide feet (G) and am a size 8, with the small sizing of these I went for an 8.5 and they fit well.

Merrell do wide fittings which are great, but they don't seem to be offered here...

Most comfy walkers I ever had! Picked them up a couple of years ago for £55, on my third set again £57 so I'm tempted at £50 for stock.

Thanks for posting this - combined with the recent top-up of Amazon a/c via PayPoint with a min.£20 and get a 'free' fiver, so cost £45 all in. Heat added.

Flubbergup, I used my TCB, cashed out as Amazon gift voucher (£75) and got 2 pairs for just £25 out of my pocket!!!

These are really comfy but very slippery in the wet, particularly on rock.

I agree. I am a 7 but the Merrells size 7 are too tight to wear. Will go size 8 next time.
