So you're voting cold because your local shop is bad at stocking/restocking? It's a good deal regardless of how bad your local delivery men are. Stupid reason for voting cold.

Delivery men you say? How very sexist of you!. Im sure the poster is also serviced by delivery women in his local area.

It's a decent reason to vote cold, if your local shop does not carry it off well then you can't buy it. If you have to vote hot every time because it always a good deal why keep posting it? Tbh I get bored of the same choice each time. It's a matter of opinion.

People don't vote on stock availability (wild goose chases vary). They vote on whether the available deal is good or not. Anything else is irrelevant.

So when you see a deal for dirt cheap flights you vote cold if the airport they depart from isn't local :unamused: yep amazing logic that

Great deal, the wine in the normal £10 meal deal is never up to much, would much rather have this deal and let people buy whatever beverage floats their boat.

You can always have beer or a no alcoholic option. The Loretto on the last deal actually gets an OK review on wotwines. Cant really complain for a tenner.

You can do much better fior a tenner (including £4.00 for wine) by doing it yourself and have a good time in the process. I enjoy cooking, I get the music on, pour a beer and get stuck in. I always end up with far superior food than shop bought ready meals! Better than restaurants too but that's just because I am an amazing cook :muscle:

Really? You don't have time to roast a chicken and boil/steam some vegetables?
A 1.65kg chicken costs £3.09 (you could put a dry rub like Cajun on it to make it more interesting). = 3.09 240g carrots cost about 10p (taken from 42p/kilo bag). =. 0.10 1/2 head of broccoli costs about 20p. =. 0.20 400g potatoes costs about 20p =. 0.20 160g petit pois costs about 25p. = 0.25 bisto gravy 10p (if you CBA making your own). =. 0.10 heinz tomato soup and a couple of bake a home rolls 70p (if you need a starter). =. 0.70 tesco 600g strawberry trifle £1.25. =. 1.25 Bottle of Merlot from Aldi 3.49. =. 3.49 TOTAL. =. 9.38
Chicken will take about 90 mins at gas mark 5 which gives time to prep and cook the veg
If you have a slow cooker you could get half kilo of stewing steak like shin beef or beef cheeks and put oxo, onion and carrot in with the beef when you get home thicken with a bit of corn flour and you have a stew with mash and peas with wine and trifle for under a tenner.
300g chicken Brest and a jar of uncle bens etc
300g chicken and a jar of Loyd Grossman sauce etc
300g (2 x 6oz) Aldi rump steak £3.49 with chips or jacket etc
these are all basic meals where very little skill is needed
If you want to be even more thrifty check out the reduced meat/veg/dairy isles and you might get some bargain rib eye or wild salmon etc
Maybe we should start a thread in misc on DIY dine in for a tenner and share ideas LOL
in fact next time I go shopping I will give myself a £10 budget and see what I can come up with, I will post the result in misc with pictures

I don't think anyone would disagree with you that you can do lots from scratch cheaper. Though I would pull you on how long a whole chicken takes, especially when stuffed, which believe it or not is a big motivating factor in people buying ready made meals....half hour in the oven/six minutes in the microwave as opposed to an hour preparing and another couple of hours cooking.
As for Aldi meat, hmmm what a load of sxxxe! I've tried everything from chops to filet steak out of there on numerous occasions wanting it to be decent like their fruit n veg but it's disappointed every time! I'm wondering what planet you're on championing such third rate tosh?
The sort of planet where serving up a tin of Heinz soup is considered an adequate starter I suppose  tell you what, if I went round someone's house for a nice meal and we tee'd off with tinned soup I'd spit it out on their table and go home, grabbing a takeaway on route

Aldi chicken comes from the same factory as M&S "Oakham" chicken educate yourself and what's wrong with Heinz tomato soup Heinz sell 57M cans of tomato soup per month so people obviously like it and it is one of your 5 per day. In fact the meal I posted contains 4/5 of your 5-a-day so it is a nutritious meal. That chicken will feed a family of 4 so with a bit of extra veg you have a healthy meal for a family of 4 with 4 of your 5-a-day not forgetting a nice bottle of wine for the grown ups

30 Sep 17#51
They make chickens in factories? I never knew, thanks for clearing that up.
Though by the way I don't buy my meat out of M&S either, I try to go to a local independent butchers over in Navenby called Odling's if at all possible.
And how many cans of filth do Pepsi sell each month?
Oh oh and by the way a tin of tomato purée is one of your five a day, without all the added nastiness Heinz lob in their tins of soup seeing you're on your health fascist soapbox :raised_hand:
A family of Oompa Loompas is that?
There's only three of us in our household, one being an infirm 82 year old who weighs little more than 7 seven stone yet we polish off a stuffed chicken with plenty of roast spuds, three different veg and Yorkshires
You do realise that on the continent as a novel way of combating binge drinking kids tend to get a small glass of wine with the family meal quite regularly and it's not just for 'grown ups' don't you?
It would appear you didn't but also judging by your scratchy tastes I dread to think what constitutes a 'nice' bottle round your gaff, some three quid bottle of vinegar from darkest Peru perhaps?

27 Sep 17#18
Bit of a weird one this. I get that having a 2nd side is ideal as normally you have to choose carbs or veg. However the mains they are offering are nearly all already with carbs and based on previous deals I am presuming they are sized for 2 (though may be wrong). Is M&S trying to suggest you invite friends round and feed them a ready meal?
If it is for two then surely it would have made a lot more sense if it was starter, main, 2 sides and dessert?

I'm not voting one way or the other but I agree with the person that wrote 'OOS'. It's pretty clear to me that at least recently these M&S Meal Deals have been largely a lure to get you in the store in the hope that you will buy other items because when you find the steadily shrinking Meal Deal display there's very little choice out of the many items theoretically available in the offer.

I haven't voted either hot or cold but I'd make the observation that if M&S get away with cutting out the bottle of wine in the £10 deal, they will continue doing so. Perhaps if the £10 wineless deal fails we'll get the old, better one back again.

I haven't actually bought this even though I posted the deal as it's not for me BUT I know for a lot of people getting a meal deal like this is a nice treat regardless of whether it's healthy or value for money compared to cooking it from scratch, etc. I'm sure we all have days where we just want to chuck something in the oven/microwave.

I bought a steak lasagne today, it was reduced to £2.50 but it's full price was less than £4. Had a huge salad with it... I think the offer without a drink is expensive for what's on offer.
