There have been several deals on various LeEco phones recently. This X626 model comes with the Mediatek X20 CPU, 4GB RAM & 32GB of ROM. The last time the X626 was posted on September 3rd, this was £92.50 from Banggood so this deal from Gearbest represents a new low (don't confuse this with the similar X622 model which carries just 3GB of RAM). Note this low price is only for the gold colour.
To save everyone the bother of repeating stuff; there's no Band 20 on this phone, there are no custom ROMs, there will be zero updates, LeEco are going bust and Sam_of_london thinks the phone is riddled with viruses (although in fairness a lot of people would probably say the same about Sam).
EDIT: if you register with Gearbest then you will very likely get the same flyer I received sent to your email address. If you access the LeEco S3 X626 deal from the email, you will be able to buy the phone at the slightly lower price of £78.61.

I have the Xiaomi redmi note 4 at 137 and you pay the extra for the no spyware. To me it's not about the spying it's more about the adware popups and they hope you click an affiliate link that's how they recoup the loses. Good if your ofait with rooting it to get rid of spyware that's why I wouldn't get this but everyone is different cold from me

There's some weird stuff going on, for sure, today's Cubot X18 thread hotukdeals.com/dea…119 says:
..of course, Sam's comment may be purely an innocent mistake - or it's Master Level Trolling.

Ahhh...that is interesting!
I'd always pictured Sam as something of an oddball but essentially an innocent. However if he's knowingly directing people to phones like the Cubot, that he knows are infected, that's enough to get him banned from this site.
HUKD works on the assumption that we're all who we say we are and that we help each other out with 'real' opinions based on 'real' experiences. The thought that we're 'being played' by someone with malicious intent bothers me a lot.
When a brand is Sam condemned: - He disregards the personal experience of others as they can't be trusted - Does not provide evidence to support his views
When a brand is Sam approved: - He states his personal experience and suggests they can be trusted - Disregards evidence that goes against his views
Basically he believes his opinion and personal experience holds more value than anyone else's on this site.

I don't see all of Sam's posts (and sorry, sam_of_london for talking about you this way, but of course you have the right to reply - and I hate making assumptions about people I don't know, innocent till proven guilty, and all that) but I'm assuming this HUKD member has LOTS of Chinese phones? He said he bought the LeEco around the end of April (when he posted a Deal about the LeEco Le Pro 3) and then said it was full of spyware when I pointed this out, last week: hotukdeals.com/com…897
sam_of_london 12th Sep I learnt my lesson buying that rubbish. (LeEco Le Pro 3) The specs were too good to be true. But inside all spyware.
..Today, he's saying he has a Cubot X18. On the thread you mention hotukdeals.com/dea…277 dreadzone101, he says he bought a cheap Umidigi. He says also he's used Doogee, and had to return a phone of theirs twice.
I'm pretty sure there's more examples. Why not spend all that money on a flagship, big-bucks phone? If he's even buying these Chinese phones?? What's going on :stuck_out_tongue: ?
Not sure what the ulterior motive could be, if there even is one?

I primarily read mobile threads when browsing hukd so I've seen quite a few. Judging from his previous comments he has bought LeEco, Doogee, ZTE, Umidigi and Cubot. That's a lot for someone with a strong bias against Chinese brands and even the Chinese retailer themselves. Sam once stated he got an email from Gearbest asking to post here and get paid<. It was an obvious lie to support his criticism that people are commission agents if they're recommending phones which he condemns. So it wouldn't be surprising if he has lied about the phones that he's bought, in order to support his criticism towards certain brands. I wouldn't trust his opinion on anything.

Yeah I saw the quote about the Gearbest email asking sam_of_london to be a commission agent - not sure what to make of that! If you're a sincere person and have good intentions, then you pick up on that consistency, even online, over time. Seems a bit pointless to me, to behave this way on a forum, but then, I'm a bit long in the tooth and don't have the inclination  ...
I'm interested in some Chinese phones myself and wile away some time watching Youtube videos/reading forums here and there, but there always seems to be a "catch", for me (the big one is that I want an amazing camera - and why are manufacturers doing away with the 3.5mm headphone jack these days?? Nooooo!!).
Whenever I state an opinion it's usually just me regurgitating other peoples' reviews (which I namecheck, of course). The only bona-fide "China" phone I've bought so far (for my sister's husband) is the ZTE Nubia Z7 Max. Big problem with ZTE is that they effectively abandon their phones not long after release, which is a shame as the (UK version) Axon Elite my sister has, is pretty amazing for the price paid.

Hukd as a whole is a very opinion driven site. Seeing an opinion I don't agree with doesn't bother me since lots of people state their opinion in comments. However, the way Sam behaves stands out in a bad way. He comes across as being oppressive with his opinions and has a very "I'm right, you're wrong" type stance regardless of what anyone else has to say.
Many people would be interested in Chinese phones and wouldn't mind sacrificing certain aspects due to the price. Even B20 is unimportant to some but that's unacceptable to Sam along with many other things. I'm of the mindset that people can decide themselves how they spend their money. However, with Sam it seems like he tries to dictate what other people should or shouldn't buy and seems to believe that his personal opinions/preferences are applicable to everyone else. I guess on the plus side, many people are aware of his attitude and will ignore him. Although, I often find myself responding to his comments
In my previous comment, I listed the brands Sam appears to have bought before. It was actually a past comment of yours about ZTE abandoning their phones that showed Sam has apparently tried them too: hotukdeals.com/com…164
Just to add, this was the deal Sam was referring to and the comment Sam subsequently deleted,

In the friendly spirit of the HUKD community, I feel I have to tell you that some of your comments are now coming across as decidedly 'odd'. I'm all for a bit of humorous banter, and even a bit of push and shove if the need arises, but telling people that they are evil and that the Chinese are watching your naked children is just not normal.

In the past, I have countered your B20 lies, therefore you accused me of only posting B20 phones. In the past, I have replied to you on Gearbest threads, therefore you accused me of being a Gearbest employee who touts Chinese phones. Lately, I have asked for proof of your spyware/malware claims, and now you're accusing me of always defending it and that I'm evil. You've made yourself look like an idiot driven by blind bias, on many occasions and you continue to do so.

To highlight just how biased Sam is against certain brands + spyware, here's a screenshot< of a comment of his that was predictably moderated/deleted. It's useless trying to reply to him. It'll have no impact and he'll just spout the same stuff about viruses/malware/spyware on the next Doogee or LeEco thread that gets posted.

Caveat Emptor: "the principle that the buyer alone is responsible for checking the quality and suitability of goods before a purchase is made."
Yet you continuously comment as if you believe you can dictate the suitability for everyone else and have already concluded the quality, despite no evidence whatsoever of your claims. I think the crucial thing buyers need to beware of, is your bias and tendency to lie.
No. I clicked on your 'email' link and I got £81.58. It must be a customer specific thing. Anyway I've amended the price up to £81.58 now and told folks to register if they want the slightly lower price. Regardless of whether it's £81 or £78, you're getting a lot of phone for your money. Is it perfect? Absolutely not but what other phones carry this spec and cost eighty quid!
