Was taking a look at some Vegas pricing as I've been looking to go for a fairly long time and I found this deal. Flights, Hotel & Transfers for a single travel for £374, £359.50 for 2 people (£719 for 2 people total)

Return flights for one person from LGW with Norwegian. Flight from 12:10 to 15:00 on Jan 15th 2018. Return to UK from 17:00 departing Vegas Mccarran and back to Gatwick for 10:50 am on the next day on the 19th January.

Hotel for 3 nights would be the Circus Circus Hotel on the strip at £49 total for 3 Nights! It is a budget hotel, with 3.5* start on Tripadvisor and 7/10 on Booking.com.

Minibus Transfer from airport to Circus Circus is £15 pp return, saving a lot of hassle to start and end your trip!

Please... if you go to Vegas do not take the ops advice and go circus circus... it is the biggest s**thole ever. Don't go all that way and ruin your experience...

A heck of a long flight (11 hours outbound, 10 hours inbound) for just a 3 night stay. Also, don't forget the 8 hour time difference. Good job it's a city that never sleeps because your first day will be a write-off as landing at LV at 3 pm means it will be 11pm in the UK so by the time you check into the hotel, you will be ready to drop.

Circus Circus was a slum when I went years ago....

The difference being:

At the Mandalay Bay our doorman opened the door for us and wished us a nice day...

At Circus Circus their doorman opened his jacket and asked "do you wanna see a titty show?"!

I kid you not!

A taxi from mccarren to the strip should be $20-$30, uber is cheaper, depending on where youre going. That would be a better option than a minibus and youll be there in a fraction of the time.

3 days isnt long enough either, especially if its the only place youre going.

Also, circus circus has a trailer park attached to it, consider that before booking. Excalibur is about $75/£55 for the same duration (excalibur.com/en/…tml?sub=MCV&kbid=3930103#/step1&promoCode=XFACEBOOK&arrive=2018-01-15&depart=2018-01-18&numGuests=2) and is much better located and youre less likely to run into Cletus from the simpsons. Both hotels also charge $30 pn 'resort' fee.

Lastly, consider that vegas has a high temp of ~14 degrees in jan.

Circus circus is a bit of a dive, however it's a bed and it's vegas, you don't go to spend time in the room. The only reason I wouldn't stay at Circus Circus is it is out the way, worth the extra to stay central or the other end of the strip such as Luxor or Excalibur. When I go my choice is Hooters. It's cheap, (in the off season a few years back I got £5 a night) yet it's quite literally next door to MGM. Can't beat it.

I flew with them to New York last November. As long as you research what you do and don't get then I think they are superb for the price and would not hesitate to fly to the USA with them again. Both flights were bang on time.

Just returned from another 7 nights last week & missing it already. We've been 9 times in last 10 years. Some trips of 14 nights & we still haven't seen all we want to see. I just don't understand how people say 3 nights is enough.
Saw David Copperfield this time round. I still can't figure out how he did stuff, and I was less than 10 metres from the stage.
Great price to get there, even if CircusCircus is a little grim. No worse than a Travelodge or similar.

9 times in 10 years is a massive overkill unless you really like gambling and drinking. Just came back from a week and don't think I'd want to go back. Some of the Hotels are magnificent especially the Wynn - the Buffet was fantastic. But everything else just seems seedy. A lot of people with serious issues over there.

I really regret paying to go into Sigmund and Roy's secret garden containing the dolphins and big cats. They were clearly mistreated and in poor conditions.

I think it's each to their own. I could only afford 7 nights this time with the collapse of the pound. Oddly, Neither me nor the missus really gamble. I did nothing & she spent $70 in a week on slots.
I was just trying to make the point that I can't see how people think that 3 days is even remotely close to enough. There is just so many things to do, so many places to go (both Strip & Downtown based along with surrounding areas).. We can't afford to go next summer as we're saving towards my next "big" birthday the year after, when we'll be back for at least 14 nights again :-)
BTW, we were back this summer to celebrate our 1st Wedding anniversary having got married in Vegas last summer :-)

Compared to other cities I've been around the world (Hong Kong, New York, San Francisco, Tokyo, Paris, London, etc) I found it really limited in what was on offer.

We went down town to Fremont and other than the view from the Stratosphere it was incredibly seedy and scummy.
The Strip was nice for a few days checking out all the hotels, etc. On the fifth day we went to the Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon but I found the sixth and seventh day an extremely boring drag.

You're right - each to their own - but I couldn't think of anything worse than a Vegas wedding.
greatcapp to DT89
15 Sep 17 #68
Yeah, it's not for everyone. The appeal for the missus, is that we could go there, get married, leave. We didn't tell anyone in the UK we were going to tie the knot, there was only me, her the minister & a witness present. She would never have gone for a wedding in the UK. Hates being the centre of any kind of attention. Plus, having been to Las Vegas so many times by then, it would have been odd to finally get hitched somewhere different. It just suited us :-)

Like you I love Vegas and do at least 10 nights at a time there. I've just booked my 5th trip there. I think the issue is many that stick with the strip, so a week is enough, but if your going to other places in Vegas, like the Valley of fire , Grand Canyon and other places off strip, you ideally need at least two weeks. I don't gamble at all and always run out of time. Have you been to Cowabunga bay, the water park in Henderson? It's brilliant. We go back in April and cannot wait!

In Vegas right now ironically. Other posters are right, Circus Circus is a dump. Don't forget Resort fees on top (although we went to The Wynn with Virgin so no resort fees)

Don't forget to get 3 day passes for "The Deuce" which let's you travel up and down the strip on the buses. If you don't want the bus, then Lyft/Uber is the way to go

first time i went to vegas was circus circus. 2 rooms for $79 split between 6.
We was never in the hotel, so fine for somewhere to get your head down & shower. Safer than a hostel... but never stayed there since. To far away from the rest of strip + the MGM/NYNY, etc. hotel group gives me good comps

Yes and no.

3 days is fine in Vegas itself, as part of a longer holiday (our first stay was 3 days... then a week), but I wouldn't fly there and back for just 3 nights though! That will be 2 days of actual sightseeing with day 1 and leaving day being flights...

stevenhp1987 to bhqmaster

a lot. Aria is expensive!

For cheaper alternatives I would look at Treasure Island, The Mirage, Monte Carlo, Harrahs, Linq and MGM Grand.

I've stayed at both Treasure Island and Monte Carlo. I prefer Treasure Island for the location (it's the "better" side of the strip).
fattyuk to stevenhp1987

Also the luxor is a good choice for budget

Linq would be good central strip, harrah is pretty old and abit worn down in the casino.

As everyone is saying:

Circus Circus is a big no for location, clientele and quality if nothing else.

3 Days is not really enough.

Resort Fees and Parking. Annoying but pretty much universal on strip -We've just got back and did Caesers Palace for £82 a night in August so lots of bargains to be had on hotels. BUT.. Resort Fee on top $35 a night parking $10 a night so factor that in pretty much impossible to avoid.

Las Vegas is big boys Disney and been at least 10 times would go again tomorrow but not for 3 days......

Just back from Vegas (this morning, so still buzzing the Vegas vibe).

Stopped in The Mirage, which no-one has mentioned yet, and reckon this is the best in terms of location, cost and facilities. Very central, discount ticket booth and cheapest ATM's over the road at Casino Royale.

Pool area is lovely, although they do pack in the sun loungers, but waitresses really quick and efficient.

Kobe burger and steaks at Stack Restaurant is great and breakfast in The Pantry will set you up for the day (and handy for the lifts / pool). Recommend The Still bar, especially if having just come out of the Beatles show - and the bar staff are great, very welcoming (and lovely...)

... and this is before setting foot outside the hotel (and even without the Carnigie Deli which The Pantry even trumped)...

So much to do in Vegas, away from the gambling, so agree, 3 days is too short, but anything longer than a week and your feet / liver / kidneys / wallet will hate you... Saw Jerry Seinfeld at Ceasars Palace, Zombie Burlesque at Planet Hollywood (which is great fun and not as seedy as it sounds), and my absolute favourite show, The Beatles 'Love' - stunning.

Hope this mini review helps, but avoid Circus Circus, where for my money, the Mirage is great.

Can't vote this cold enough...

1. Three nights is FAR too short for such a long flight. You need at least four nights in Vegas, and should take advantage of being stateside by seeing somewhere else, maybe San Francisco or Seattle?

2. Circus Circus is a hole. An absolute dump. Not close to the places anyone would want to stay or spend time, outdated, filled with weird people.

Why don't people here understand that most of the time things are cheap for a reason.

Yet again, people piling heat on a holiday that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. Pointless.

I think the length of time anyone wants to go on holiday in Vegas depends how they're going to spend their time. We went for 2 weeks a couple of years back and I'd love to return again and wouldn't want to go for a shorter period of time. However we had a hire car (huge car for something like £250 for 2 weeks) and spent many days exploring the wider area, drove to LA and Malibu, went hiking near Mt. Charleston, drove to the south rim of the Grand Canyon, visited the Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, Red Rock Canyon, North and South Shopping Outlets etc. I love the Strip, and we spent plenty of time exploring the different hotels, going to shows and eating out, but personally without a car to explore further afield a week would be enough for me, with a car I could stay in Vegas for ages, and next time we go we'll use it as a base again and visit the Valley of Fire, Bryce Canyon etc.

I loved Vegas, there's so much more than just the Strip, and 3 days is very short considering the duration of the flights, possible jet lag (fortunately never affected us) etc.

Wouldn't stay at Circus Circus personally but did visit the hotel casino, theme park area etc. one evening and it wasn't that bad, just rather chavvy (no idea what the rooms are like). We stayed at Palazzo which is at the north end of the strip, far more expensive than Circus Circus or Excalibur but very nice and would only stay there/Venetian or the Wynn/Encore.

Also great if you can get flights with a stopover at somewhere else on the way there or back, we had a 9 hour stopover in Toronto on the way out there so got to visit Niagara Falls.
bojangles to acb76
14 Sep 17 #35
lot of effort for an hour visit!
Assuming 4hr round trip, 2hrs back in the airport for check in. You must have only had 2 1/2 hours at the falls - though thats longer than I would want to spend at Clifton Hill!

Admittedly it didn't give us enough time to go on the Maid In The Mist etc., but despite traffic being heavy on the way there we had plenty of time, found easy on-street parking 10 minutes walk away, I'd prebooked tickets for the Skylon Tower, grabbed a bite to eat and then drove back to Toronto Pearson airport, the only minor issue was I left it until virtually on top of the airport to fill up with fuel and then got slightly lost finding a petrol station.

Haven't been to the glass walkway bit but from what I've read it sounds abit 'tacky' compared to the 'proper' north and south rims of the Grand Canyon.

You can get a complete package with Thomas Cook for around £600pp for a 7 day stay. Plenty of things to do in Vegas. 3 days is nowhere near enough, you can spend a day just wondering through all the hotels and watching the free shows. Circus Circus is an awful hotel and way down the strip, closer to Fremont Street is its only positive. Hire a car for the day and drive to Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon. You can also stop by Williams, the last town on Route 66 to be bypassed by the freeway. It would be a long day but definitely worth it. I'm going back in November for a week and what i have planned i don't think it will be long enough!!

Norwegian won't travel in the summer season to Vegas because of the heat. You'll be able to go Virgin / BA but these dates aren't traditionally cheap. Rather than buy now or wait - just keep an eye on prices and see if they're going up or down every few days or so. A great price for flights those months would be for £550pp direct so if you see anything near that - go for it.

14 Sep 17 #25
Great deal for the flights but as others have mentioned pick a hotel at the other end of the strip, Circus Circus is quite far out. I stayed at the Flamingo and found that a great central location and reasonably priced. We did 3 days and managed to squeeze alot in - Phantom, Flight over grand canyon + picnic, gambling, shopping, site seeing etc - it can be done!

Just came back from a week in Vegas. Stayed in the Tropicana on the South end of the Strip (by Excalibur).
I would avoid Circus Circus. It is nowhere near the main stretch of the Strip plus it looked awful from the outside.

I'd also advise looking into Hotel taxes and resort fees as this drive the cost up considerably.

A week was too long but 3 days would be too short.

That's a terrific price for flights. Circus circus is awful, I walked through it to get to battlefield vegas and couldn't believe how minging it is. It really is horrendous but there are so many better places it doesn't matter. The aria is my favourite and if your getting your flights half price (effectively) then happy days.
Agree about uber too, I think it cost me $11 in a merc to get from Mcaran to the MGM. I'd prob do 5 days too, that is enough, 3 will be a bit rushed, 7 is too long

Circus Circus is usually around £20 a night, so you're getting a bit of a saving - although as others have said - especially the low end rooms at this hotel are a bit of a dive. However, it is still too early to get the best prices for these dates.
