Was looking for some 2G sockets with USB and found this multi buy deal at Screwfix, one socket is £12.99 but if you buy 2 or more the price drops to £7.50. Not as good as the 2 for £14 deal posted earlier which has expired.

Personally I'd avoid LAP I bought 10 or so chrome double sockets within a couple weeks the switches had broken on 2/3 units some how..

I got these guys and most of the USBs never worked or stopped after a few uses, I ran out of time to uninstall them all before the return window was up so still in the walls, bit annoying really.
If you check a lot of iPhone lightening leads, they aren't suitable for over 2amp. This is why many cheaper (and also some not so cheap) leads fail quite quickly - I'm told they have a cut out fuse built in which is not replaceable?

Is the USB circuitry only on when the switch is on? I predict not. In which case, it's akin to leaving a regular charger plugged in permanently, whether a device is being charged or not.
No thank you!

I think the manufacturers are really missing a trick here - why not add a USB on off button? it wouldn't be difficult. Not being able to turn off the transformer puts me off - that and the apparently dodgy design, as previously mentioned, going on out there.

I have decided against fitting these in my home and the industry seems undecided if they are safe or not. Some are certainly not. electricalsafetyfirst.org.uk/med…pdf

I'm with you on this one although Crabtree do sell some. They are available at around £20 to the public. Usual excellent Crabtree quality.. A customer presented me with a bag full of LAP switches/sockets and outlets he had already bought. I wasn't impressed with the build quality at all.

Nice find op for the 3.1amp. I presume this charging rate is shared across the 2 usb’s

£5.94 from CPC.co.uk with free delivery.Order code PL1498508.
Some might like the slower charge, beside the bed charging maybe , and might give longer for the battery.

The position of the power switches being as they are, a lot of things are going to block them. For bigger powerline network adapters for instance, you end up having to buy a short extender so you don’t have to play Russian roulette turning on the socket before you plug it in.
Better to have switches offset to the side.

Do the USB's on these power down with the switches? Unlike a computer there's obviously no need for them to have constant power to detect a printer, mouse, etc. being inserted.

Scratch that, it looks like delivery is free, but only if you spend over £90 :disappointed:
