I bought a new printer on 09.09, claimed trade-in on the same day, old one collected on the 22.09, received confirmation of £60 payment today (06.10) - just a Self - Billing Invoice from HP, no money in my bank account yet.

I emailed HP as I also wasnt sure:
"It is sufficient to print the packing slip and attach it safely on the outside of the box. The courier won’t bring another label for the pickup.
I put a copy of the email and packing slip in the box and stuck a copy of the packing slip on the box. There is an address on their but hardly in a big font. Presusambly they track by the bar coeds.

They emailed me a packing slip but not an address label - do I attach
the slip to the box? Or to the actual printer? I'm finding this very
confusing :disappointed: Thanks!

It worked out for me also and I'm based in ROI in case anyone was wondering about the T&Cs which were a bit confusing about the "mainland" restriction.
Got it delivered using parcel wizard and applied for the trade in offer on the Irish HP website (only gives 55 euro rather than 60 pounds), but still worked out as a very good deal.

T&Cs states "Only mainland applications are valid" so looks like off mainland uk locations like NI discriminated against yet again and with this offer requiring a full purchase up front then just too risky to try. :rage:

No point, your printer is too old according to bluetang "Unfortunately the link I just posted does not work. As per OP's postings you need to google HP trade in 8710 which takes you to the T&Cs which say When you purchase a new HP printer, you can trade in your old printer - regardless of the manufacturer. One condition: the old printer must be at least 6 months old and fully-functioning" Otherwise I would do this, my printer is 7 years old and going strong

Does one need to go for the instant ink offer ? I don't like the idea of HP managing my ink requirements and telling me how many pages per month i can print.
Musicrab to sbirsen
8 Sep 17#33
No, you don't NEED to go for Instant Ink but, in my experience as a low usage printer (50 sheets per month) its a great deal at £1.99/month because a. the inks are pukka b. they are delivered to your door and c. it's actually quite cheap (£24/year). If you print more than this then go for a different package - the saving are higher the more printing that you do.
I assume they are going to scrap the old printers, as they can't do a lot with them. I can't understand why they are bothered if they are fully-functioning? - Are they going to pay someone to start testing the old ones ?
philhib1964 to happymanuk
8 Sep 17#32
If you read the T&Cs it does state all printers will be subject to tests before trade in value is agreed. It may be working OK when it leaves you but who knows what could happen to it in transit? And, if it is found not to be working you have to pay all postal costs.

Does this mean it must have ink and be able to print? Or is it enough if you put in new ink cartridges, it would work? I say this as I have a fully working printer that has empty cartridges.

Does it matter what the spec of the trade in printer is? Does it have to be an all in one? I've got an old epson, which prints and copies, but the scanner is toast.

Has anyone actually found the right link. None of the above work or make sense.
The way I've read it is you have to buy the printer up front and then claim the trade in value back, which is more of a cash back deal than trade in as you are having to fork out the total cost first?
Does anyone know how long it takes to get the trade in value reimbursed?
