Not sure if I should take the plunge or hold out for a bit longer as the price kept dropping in the past few days

There is so little difference between the Redmi Note 4 that the bigger battery on that phone is drawing me there instead. I'd like the clean android but my biggest issue with current phone is the battery and this one isn't that much bigger...

This IS the Mi 5X - a rebranded version for the global market. The comparison really is between those two phones... e.g. indiatoday.intoday.in/tec…tml

Looking for new android phone for around £160 with 5.5in screen size. These chinese phones from chinese suppliers look tempting but worried about guarantee , shipping, buy from the sites and also heard stories of virus's where data is sent back to China. Should I be worried. Your thoughts / feedback be most welcome. Thanks in advance.

First rule of buying a Chinese phone: Forget about warranty. Very little chance you could get anything done when there's a problem with the phone. Paypal is your best friend if the phone fails within 6 months of purchase.
Don't choose fast shipping, DHL or anything of the likes, your chance of getting stung by Customs will increase.
For Xiaomi phones, it's best to re-flash the original ROM directly from Xiaomi other than keep using the modded ROM from seller just to be safe, but since the A1 is running stock Android, nothing needs to be done I assume.
Been buying several Xiaomi phoes and had no problem so far, they're still going strong after 2 years. Other brands, I don't have much confidence in them.

The second rule is to never speak of it. Just tell everybody it's a Sammy.

PayPal have free postage paid returns. Might need to activate it. I went the Gearbest option. I reckon Android One for developed countries is a uncatered for market.

I really tempted by the Mi A1 but ideally I'd like a 5" screen. Any recommendations for a similar, but smaller, alternative?

The best SOC is the Exynos 8895. It's the best number cruncher and the most power efficient at the top end, but its a rare breed.
