I don't have tickets for Birmingham.
I was at Braehead Arena last week. It's a good show. Sure the tickets are a great bonus for being a subscriber to Sky but this won't be the last time they offer something like this.
London will be booking in the future though, is that too far to travel?

We went to the Newcastle show last night. I decided to show up at 4: 30pm to collect the tickets as sky stated the box office opens two hours prior to the show. Nobody was there, went straight to the normal box office and collected tickets (I think I could of shown up earlier to be honest). All I was asked was surname, didn’t have to show any ID or booking confirmation. Was a great show and was completely different other than the frozen section which has been in the previous two years! Good luck for anyone else trying for tickets.

Went to glasgow today for the 1030am show, turned up at 945 and walked straight to the front of the sky desk. Picked up my tickets in less than 1 minute with no ID being requested then gave my sister and nieces the 4 tickets i bought at full whack the week before this deal was posted!

You are guaranteed with the re-ticketing of the event at Glasgow's Braehead Arena that was originally scheduled for the 1st October. The rebooking system has accounted for EVERYONE who originally managed to get tickets.
The other venues have a smaller overspill list and larger waiting lists. The events are also being slowly filled with small batches of tickets being released at a time so as not to over whelm the system.
There are many hundreds of people who did manage to get tickets but likewise there are also those who missed out.
Sky and weticketit are subjecting events to a fair use policy to ensure that each customer gets a fair chance in the future. It's still new and behaves at times like a beta test so the tech is being upgraded and developed as time goes by. Christ the app has updated 4 times on Android since the end of August, they are clearly investing in this area.
Still suppose you can't please everyone. Especially when someone somewhere is bound to miss out.

Very luck if you actually manage to successfully get a ticket...still not 100% guarantee of entry though. The tickets have gone so quickly from ‘coming soon’ to ‘fully booked’ that it makes you wonder if there were any tickets available at all!. I was checking continuously but still managed to not get a single ticket(not why I am annoyed with Sky). I was contemplating purchasing these tickets before they came on Sky VIP however Sky have managed to turn this event & others into a ticketing fiasco(well done Sky!). Anyway my apologies for the long rant but it needed to be said in my opinion. Hope everyone who got a ticket gets in & enjoys the event.

Yes! We went on Sunday, turned up at 2.30 (for 4pm show) and there was a big queue for tickets. They got through everyone really quickly. Just had a big list of names with how many tickets. Then stacks of 1/2/3/4 tickets in envelopes. Did not get asked for any ID at all btw. Show was fantastic, my 3yo son loved it.
Just as an FYI for anyone going with smaller children, you could bring them in the buggy right into the arena, then there were several 'buggy parks' dotted around. Very handy!

Tickets are being made available at 'random' intervals to avoid a: crashing the booking system (as per Glasgow) and b: disappointment.
There is so much traffic on this app. More than it was designed for it would seem.

Newcastle was booking last Thursday night. Then waiting list. Then fully booked. Then marked coming soon.
Massive issues with availability Vs public relations means a rethink. Currently get hold of as many extra tickets as they can to offer more dates to minimise disappointment.
Keep checking the app, there's no official release date to announce but often follows the same release pattern.

Yup. Think you may be right.
Also offering to reimburse anyone who is out of pocket due to travel or accomodation arrangements already in place for 1st October.
They've spent time panicking about the negative PR this would generate and will have learned a few lessons for future releases I should think.
Everyone who booked will now get guaranteed tickets (unsure about waiting list) enjoy the show.

Lead offer is golfing and Disney is just below. They've shuffled the order about and arranged the 'fully booked' events a little better.
Parts of the MySKY and the VIP app are still under development so you'll see changes.
At the moment I don't know what's happening with Newcastle tickets. Did anyone get any? They were booking, then waiting list and you could see the box office times and everything. Don't know if a booking would confirm but it would allow you to apply on Thursday.

Be wary guys, sky really messed up with the NFL allocation - I along with hundreds have had tickets revoked yesterday after confirming them last week - they are compensating with free sky sports for a year or £150 at ticketmaster but most on here have a heavily discounted sports if they do have it (and recontractingg will cost more in the long run) or the £150 won't cover NFL Tickets. I was planning on driving but several people are out of pocket for hotel or train fares and having very disappointed kids....

360finder
15 Sep 17#101
And that's why they went fast. When the offer went live for Braehead not many people even knew the app existed. Since mods posted this to Facebook last week thousands of extra people have signed up to the app.
They may release more and trickle fill each venue but the waiting list was booking last night too so unlikely.

And your point is?

You don't need photo id.....you can also just show a credit card with your name on it When collecting tickets at an event, the person whose name is on the tickets must bring ID (driving license or credit card) to show their name matches the one on the tickets.

Tickets need to be collected with photo id in the Sky account holders name as per T&C's if tickets are not required they should be cancelled so they can be given to those in the waiting list.
These promotions are being monitored and abuse of the system may result in the VIP account being cancelled for the Sky account.

I guess it's a standard "get out" clause in small print incase they have to turn someone away.
We went to Thomas screening in Glasgow a few weekends ago, amazing cause it was 'filly booked' and only about 50 people in the cinema. That said it was 9:30 in the morning on a Sunday, many Glaswegians still nursing the sore head at that time. Have a feeling more people will turn up for this though.
freebiehunter
8 Sep 17#71
The talk of issuing more tickets than allowed amount for events is pretty standard these days.. you wouldn't get turned away. I went to a sky VIP event last week at the barbican, hardly anyone with free tickets turned up. You can't pass the tickets on though as you have to show them on your phone with your ID

but sky are the ones offering 4 tickets to each subscriber, as long as everyone uses the 4 tickets they "greedily" take, what's the issue?
people can also get ill or something can happen late in the day to prevent them going - we had an extra ticket to Belladrum festival due to a family member pulling out the day before - I suppose they were also being greedy having that unused ticket, they should have known months in advance they would get ill the night before. :unamused: (I stood at the gate and gave it away to someone who needed it btw).

presumably that will be on the tickets when you get given them. That will be how they can decide when to start turning people away

ive booked 4 tickets for my daughter my friend and her son. im just praying that when we get there we arent turned away i agree sky havent thought the booking part through imaging turning up with your kids and being turned away break the poor kids hearts. they should issue the amount of tickets that instead of over issuing.

I just went to print them out, and it seems to just be the booking confirmation - no numbered seats! But it does say the doors open at 3pm for event starting at 4pm, and also "Tickets can be collected from the box office the day of the event with booking confirmation and ID braehead-arena.co.uk/New…ing" so I plan on being there super early to try and do as much as I can to guarantee my entry!

Check your confirmation email - I have a link in mine to pre-print the tickets at home.
For anyone concerned they may get turned away, why not just don't tell your kids where you're going? Have a friend distract the kids in Braehead while you go and book yourselves in - that way, if they are full and you can't get in, the kids don't know either way?
LJLong
8 Sep 17#55

Calldean
8 Sep 17#54
It's just funny that everyone on this thread has two kids and both parents are going. And even in the case of an extra kid - that's still only three tickets if just one parent goes. In most cases, it'll be pure greed - as it always is when something free is on the go, "I'll take more than I need, because I can".
edit: also, the fact that Sky oversubscribe it, because they know people won't show up, shows that it's greed - if you actually wanted the tickets, you would turn up. But because it's free.... take, take, take and if I can't be arsed to turn up, so what?
s24adm
8 Sep 17#53
Been to much of these things? 2 parents and 2 children are quite a common thing, in fact it's what most "family ticket" discounts are based on. Also if I had 1 kid and the chance to get an extra free ticket, why not let them bring a friend?

The sky app says to collect tickets at box office on day of event (on a Sunday)...braehead arena website says box office is shut Sunday to Wednesday...will they open it or will I have to travel to Glasgow earlier in week???

That is shocking that they won't guarantee you won't actually get in. It is not like a hotel where worst case you can stay somewhere else. Not going to bother. But thanks for posting op

I guess all people can do is turn up ridiculously early. I actually live near Manchester Arena but I'm still in two minds about whether to apply really.

If you get the "my sky app" you will get loyalty rewards now depending upon your length of service min reward £13.99 buy & keep dvd up to free sky fibre & free sky q but they have now moved all the tickets and stuff into the app as well. Well worth getting the app and checking it every now and then even if you only get the DVD it's something. I only stumbled upon it by chance and got Rouge one, sky are not actively advertising it by the looks of it.

I'm a bit worried that if I got tickets and took my kids, we'd get turned away and it would break their hearts :disappointed: It's great for Sky to offer them but I don't think they've thought it through on the whole overbooking thing. It's never right to do that to kids surely!

It says they issue more tickets than they have available seats because they don't expect everyone to turn up
Opening post

I was at Braehead Arena last week. It's a good show. Sure the tickets are a great bonus for being a subscriber to Sky but this won't be the last time they offer something like this.
London will be booking in the future though, is that too far to travel?
Was a great show and was completely different other than the frozen section which has been in the previous two years! Good luck for anyone else trying for tickets.
And this time we knew to take food/toys/distractions to escape the crazy overpriced tat they had on offer
Thanks OP
Did not see anyone getting turned away but we were there when the ticket desk opened.
Glad your little one enjoyed the show.
Just as an FYI for anyone going with smaller children, you could bring them in the buggy right into the arena, then there were several 'buggy parks' dotted around. Very handy!
So is it likely to be another week before they start releasing the other venues I wonder?
Patience will pay off (maybe)
There is so much traffic on this app. More than it was designed for it would seem.
Just keep checking, paging in and out. If you are lucky you'll get them. If someone who has no intention of going doesn't book them first!
Massive issues with availability Vs public relations means a rethink. Currently get hold of as many extra tickets as they can to offer more dates to minimise disappointment.
Keep checking the app, there's no official release date to announce but often follows the same release pattern.
The new booking confirmation email that I've got says you need photo ID
Good of them to guarantee tickets to other shows though - shows that although the first part wasn't very well thought out, they got it right second attempt!
Still gonna have 2 happy kids and that's all that I'm concerned about! Hope everyone else gets theirs sorted!
It isnt all bad: they gave me a £150 TicketMaster gift card as they overbooked a Sky VIP Football game...!
They're offering a choice of other dates. Seems to imply tickets are guaranteed (I reckon they've overbooked previously and realised they're going to have a lot of pissed off people with crying kids when they don't get in)
Only chance is if you go with someone who has a spare.
They may release more and trickle fill each venue but the waiting list was booking last night too so unlikely.
When collecting tickets at an event, the person whose name is on the tickets must bring ID (driving license or credit card) to show their name matches the one on the tickets.
This deal went crazy on Facebook last week, got the job of marketing done for free. Thousands of extra sign ups means much more demand for the remainder shows. Hence Newcastle booking out in 2minutes.
These promotions are being monitored and abuse of the system may result in the VIP account being cancelled for the Sky account.
I would advise you check last thing and first thing or subscribe here and the deal will update when booking.
Still only Glasgow booking at the moment.
Keep watching the app. Booking for others opening VERY soon.
Rumours of Birmingham and London coming in the next few months. You may need to update your app if it's not showing at all!?! Should be available to all Gold, platinum and black level subscribers.
We went to Thomas screening in Glasgow a few weekends ago, amazing cause it was 'filly booked' and only about 50 people in the cinema. That said it was 9:30 in the morning on a Sunday, many Glaswegians still nursing the sore head at that time. Have a feeling more people will turn up for this though.
people can also get ill or something can happen late in the day to prevent them going - we had an extra ticket to Belladrum festival due to a family member pulling out the day before - I suppose they were also being greedy having that unused ticket, they should have known months in advance they would get ill the night before. :unamused: (I stood at the gate and gave it away to someone who needed it btw).
Good luck getting in!
For anyone concerned they may get turned away, why not just don't tell your kids where you're going? Have a friend distract the kids in Braehead while you go and book yourselves in - that way, if they are full and you can't get in, the kids don't know either way?
edit: also, the fact that Sky oversubscribe it, because they know people won't show up, shows that it's greed - if you actually wanted the tickets, you would turn up. But because it's free.... take, take, take and if I can't be arsed to turn up, so what?
edit - nevermind, all sold now
Also got a free movie too for joining the app. I never knew about this app so thanks!
Imagine your kids utter disappointment if they turned you away
