System for real-time monitoring of car tyre pressure, communicating with a smart phone app over Bluetooth. Used to sell for £150 2 years ago, still on sale for £129 at Halfords, and reduced from £79.99 at Maplin to only £39.99 seems pretty hot, and cheap enough to be worth a try.

You are right .. Hot deal ..10 minutes to set up and warns of low pressure. I find a cheap pressure gauge and inflators a good ide

How large are these caps. The one review on maplin isnt clear. If each cap holds a Cr2032 battery they must be massive?
Check whether the threads on the inside of the caps are plastic or metal. I used low tech pressure sensors from amazon (green/yellow/red caps depending on pressure). Those stuck on the stems and would not budge due to rust in just a couple of months and i had to pay to have the stems replaced at a tyre place.

Have bought to put on my wife’s car, she is a nightmare for driving on under-inflated tyres. I would think this is a cracking idea for trailers and caravans too, this is plus £100 everywhere else too :raised_hand:
I will buy this for my grannie who is half paralised on a wheelchair..christmas present sorted.

I'd feel quite deflated if I got this as a Christmas present.

Screwing these on sounds like introducing something that could itself blow/leak thereby letting all air out of the tyres. Are they well enough engineered to be safe?

Not a big fan of these things myself and would rather do my checks regularly but for any reason if it came off valve should seal itself and not leak all the air. Just like if you didn't have a cap air wouldn't leak out.

Agreed these aftermarket ones are not good, but the factory fitted TPMS system are excellent. Real-time monitoring is superior to checking before setting off.

I'm thinking how it'll seal itself around the thread reliably though.

I don't know exactly what this product looks like but I would have thought there's a rubber washer or something similar inside each cap which sits flat on valve and makes good seal rather then thread.

Seem to be various others on Amazon, similar or better for the £40 mark, e.g.
Good luck on this one, I put some chrome valve caps on my car and someone nicked the lot.

They will be nicked on my first trip to the shop. :joy:

Someone would nick these from the tyres. My metal caps got nicked when the car was parked... (i can hear the questions coming... Where did you park? :)))

Not a fan of phone apps since they always want access to your personal data when they have no need for it.
I have used Tyrepal for around 5 years to guard very effectively against flat tyres. At around £150 per tyre, these systems pay for themselves with one puncture, let alone the many benefits of having correctly inflated tyres

How much do you pay for a puncture? :fearful:

Thanks OP. Ordered for pick up. Great Deal. Wanted these for a long time for my caravan, but always too expensive.

I would not do without mine now, it is a must have accessory, real time monitoring and audible warning if tyre pressure goes above or below 2 psi, that you set.
I don't know about app versions but I bbought a dedicated version on Ali express for around £45. Mine is solar powered display with separate charger socket. You can have bar or psi, audible warning. Simple to set up and fit, as its wireless. The valve caps are large, but not a problem. They come preset with LF and LR, etc so they are on the correct wheel.
You put a lock nut on the valve stem first, then screw on the valve cap, then back screw to the valve cap and it locks in place. Unless you have the special sized spanner to unscrew the locknut, they cannot be nicked.

Even with a small pair of bolt cutters it wouldn't take more than a few seconds to lose all 4 . You wouldn't need a bluetooth tyre pressure sensor to read the resulting pressures

Picked mine up today. It was a nightmare to set up. Only two of the caps seemed to connect and you had to start again everytime. Useless. Being returned tomorrow.

Batteries being DOA seems to be a problem with these as reviewed on Halfords.com, might be worth getting them to try new ones for you. Might be one of the reasons why the stock is getting offloaded so cheaply. If Maplin won't exchange the button cells, it's £2.99 for a 4 pack from screwfix. HTH.

I am waiting for the "wipe my backside" devices . . . don't know if an app will be needed?

With a few tools like a Jack and a few bricks it would not take long for someone to nick all 4 wheels! Or with a tennis ball steal the whole car. How far do you wanna take it?

Have used this system for two years and quite happy at full price - Very well engineered, works very well. Battery life round 1-1.5 years.
