I think Dyson has 'had it's day'.........IMO, there is better hardware available.

I've had this dyson but then upgraded to the shark lift away, it's amazing the suction it has .

The time you gotta spent cleaning the the hoover itself after every clean is greater than the time you would spent picking up every single dust particle with your bear hands.

Can I just say that I have this exact one and it's the best one I've ever owned. Don't know what the other people are moaning about. It's very powerful and easy to use! I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good vacumn and at this price it is a great deal.

Forget about hoovering on carpet, the oversuction makes hoovering a chore even with a dyson

Go fishing for Shark NV680UKCO vacuum instead, you wont be disappointed
I have this. Hate it. Falls over all the time when using the hose. Can't get rid of the smell of dogs unless I give it a deep clean. I DON'T OWN A DOG

My very old DC14 is getting a bit past its best and I am even tempted to have it "reconditioned" something I would never normally dream of doing as labour costs make repairs on most domestic goods largely a false economy, but as you say new Dysons are just junk.
The Shark options do seem a much better option now, just I am so uncomfortable with the ridiculously boxy clumsy heavy American styling and the reviews stress how heavy and awkward they are to use even of they are efficient at picking up the muck! :-(
