I'd usually suggest spending a fair amount on a decent chair if you're going to be in it for a long period of time, although if you're on a bit of a tight budget, this mesh one seems really reasonable with the extra 20% off. I've seen a few similar under different names at £50+

Any suggestions on a better one that's preferably under £200?

By all accounts, the Ikea Markus seems to be a well regarded chair for not too much money but with a 10 year guarantee. Maybe not adjustable enough for some but likely very reliable.

That's one I'm definitely considering but the reviews vary a lot. It seems like everyone agrees that the build quality is second to none but quite a few people have said they've never sat in such an uncomfortable chair

I've had this chair for over a year. For the price, it's good, but it's still a very average chair. The padding on the seat isn't great and you'll probably need another cushion on there for comfort.
When it comes to office chairs, you really do have to spend to get something decent.

Bought this one on eBay a week ago; looks quite similar
Thanks. Can I ask what type of material the seating area is made from? Is it fabric or PU leather?

Thanks for posting that link, would you recommend the chair? How are you finding it, comfy and sturdy enough? I'm tempted to buy it as it's cheap and there's no point, for me, to buy an expensive chair as I have a cat that's already destroyed two pricey desk chairs so I've given up on having nice things lol :smiley_cat:

It's a steady build, took about 5 mins to put together. Does have good back support and your bum is certainly cushioned. That's all I was looking for - had it for a week now it's holding up fine.

What adjustments does it have?

Just up and down handle. Nothing else but the back rest obviously moves a little if you push on it

A week? Wow, well that sells it for me. :relaxed:

has anyone got one and can say what the (minimum) height from the floor to the top of the armrests is.
Unless the arms fit underneath my (fairly low-slung) desk, it is useless. Dunno why they never state this.

Specs are here: viking-direct.co.uk/a/p…29/ I had to take the wheels off as it was a bit too high for using it with a racing wheel/pedals, but I'm planning to get some feet for it.
Good deal, I paid £30 odd for one from an office clearance company (the chair seemed virtually new).
Edit: just re-read your post. It's about 65cm but the arms are slightly different on mine.

When you play guitar it's difficult to find one without arm rests or with ones that can be lowered. I'll need a new chair.. and a stool :smiley_cat:
Looks a lot like my Ikea chair. Ifs the same and same quality get it... If not, I'd recommend the Ikea chair to anyone. I own 2 now... One for home PC and one for my office. I've owned countless chairs and the Ikea one's the best by far.

Whilst not perceived to be a bargain, although I bought it at a UK launch price, I recently acquired a Secret Labs Titan chair. It’s the most comfortable and best built chair I have ever sat in

But the IKEA one is probably better quality. A few years ago I bought an office chair from a proper office supplier for about £150, thinking that would make it good quality. It looked pretty tatty after a couple of years.
A year ago I bought a swivel chair from IKEA for about £100 and it's far better quality. Still looks new a year later on.

Thanks Neo. I ended up ordering an Alphason Northland leather chair at £143.99 delivered, hopefully with 4% via Topcashback :raised_hand:
