The way I look at it:

Amazon Prime for 2 years - £158

Prime new cost £78
NUS card for 2 years £23.50
Vouchers -£15

Half price Prime, £17.50 net cost of card if looking at the vouchers/cost of course, saving on the laptop we need to buy...and I bought a course which may be of use (it's relevant to me anyway!)

Asking for help.

I want to order a three year card - but in a legitimate manner.

Can anybody recommend a free / cheap 3 year course - that will make me technically truthfully eligible for the card?

Which course provider did you set up your NUS card through? If it was a cheapie or freebie could you please send me a link? I saw this, but I've never heard of the company offering the discount

I've got a friend who's wanting to sign up for a course through Shaw and it isn't showing up. Can anyone confirm if Shaw Academy is currently working for setting up an NUS card? Cheers!

CONFIRMED! any cards new or renewal ordered after 04/09 - 1/2/3yr will come with vouchers. There is a minimum spend on all 3, co-op, pizza express and amazon. Waiting on T+C's to come through. All vouchers will be shipped with the cards

Just to add for information, was recommending the NUS card deals to a friend for the Spotify membership last week only to find that deal has now ended and moved to Unidays. Doesn't impact this deal! But thought I would post in case people are renewing to use it for Spotify.

Well that's a bit sh*t! I've had 2 years worth of NUS discounts so far but never paid for Spotify (promos for Deezer, Spotify and GPM have been enough) but I always knew that I had the option of a cheap subscription for Spotify.

So now we just need a way to get a unidays account workaround! :wink:

It's not surprising really when you look at how many fake students abuse the NUS card by signing up for supposed 'learning courses' on children's book writing for £2.50!

Ive said previously that the people who abuse the deal will only cause retailers to stop offering discounts... and surprise surprise.... retailers are stopping offering discounts!

It isn't just, or even mainly, this.

Rather:

a) NUS Extra is supposed to help finance NUS;
b) NUS is seen as very left wing and hence easily portrayed as anti-business/toxic by competitors;
c) The other operators are commercially focused in a way that NUS just isn't;
d) UNiDAYS, for example, is building global brand relationships and technology platforms.

I can't believe NUS Extra has not replaced Spotify with Deezer or some other competitor.

Me too, although i just tried renewing anyway and it's charging £5 (+£1.50 delivery) to renew with the same expiration date. So effectively £18.5 gained if I was to use the vouchers (and I probably will). However, there's no mention of being eligible for the vouchers on the confirm & pay page, so I don't want to chance it.

They usually ask for a .ac email address, but you can contact customer services and say you're an online student with no .ac address. They send you a link to a page to fill in and upload photos of the NUS card. Shortly after that, you're eligible for Amazon Student.

There is/was a form on Amazon that says something like "im a student but don't have a uni email address", fill that form in, attach a picture of the NUS card and you get your student prime discount
