As said, if you're doing some serious masonry drilling then don't rely on these. The other bits do the job though and it's a good set for the price

Yes, as there are masonry bits included, but read the 'note' too:
"5 masonry drill bits - 3 mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 8 mm (note: masonry drill bits only to be used by drills with a hammer function)."

The masonry bits in these sets are only really good for going into the light and at a push, medium type breeze blocks. They will also wear out really fast. Buy this set for the other bits which are decent and consider the masonry bits as a bonus. If you want to go through brick look for carbide tipped bits and ideally use them on a percussion or SDS drill. Those will last a lot longer and work much faster than these.

Re: masonry bits - Depends on a bunch of factors but for general diy use as long as you are prepared to drill reasonably slowly, using a hammer setting, reasonably short bursts of upto about 15 seconds and the let the drill bit cool (dip into a pot of cold water to speed that up. No need to remove from the drill if careful not to get the drill itself wet), then they should be OK for a fair amount of home jobs, if patient. Heat is the killer so as tempting as it is, don't go full out for long periods.

Do NOT dip drill bits in cold water when they are hot/warm, the shank is purposely left soft so as not to brake and do damage to yourselves. dipping mild steel in water when hot will make them brittle.

In 30+ years of doing this, I've never had any issues, nor anyone else I know that does it too. I was told it by an old boy that had been doing it for 60+ years without incident. Reckons his bits lasted much longer. I'm not saying it won't happen but as always use a bit of common sense. Fair play for the heads up though.
