HAs anyone's Mobo broken due to their cooler weight?
Heat given as its a twin tower. BEquiet are good.

I have read of mounting brackets braking with heavy coolers like this but only when transporting the PC. The recommendation is to remove heavy coolers if transporting the PC.

If you're going to spend £50-70 on a cooler this heavy you should probably have a motherboard with a backplate. There's no flex from this in my PC, I'm more worried about modern GPUs breaking a PCI-E slot with their drooping.

Nah, I have the cooler master v8

& mobo is fine under the weight of that so you SHOULD be fine ☺

> Currently £72.66 on amazon.
Amazon isn't a good source for a price comparison, as although they're popular, they're generally one of the more expensive outlets. AWT currently have the cooler at £55, inc delivery, for a slightly more realistic comparison.
It's caller than the AIO water cooler (TT Water 2.0) I was using.

Thermalright heatsinks are splendid, I loved them in the socket A days :sunglasses:

Very tempted with buying this even though I am not doing a rebuild until later in the year. Does anyone know if it is AM4 compatible? The blurb says compatible with all current AMD, but then the specific socket details don't mention AM4.
Acoustic performance is more important than amazing cooling, reviews suggest it is on par with Noctua’s NH-D14, don't suppose anyone can back this up? I mainly just need it to be as silent as possible under low load scenarios
Very good cooler, I've owned it for a while now and this is a good price. Plus always recommend Novatech.
You don't need to worry about anything breaking, even during transport (just lay the PC on its side if you're worried). Taken mine to 2 insomnia LANs now with no problems.
One of the best looking air coolers imo as well.

its never on offer when you need it. now that i've got 280mm radiator i don't need it. :disappointed:

I have a Scythe Mugen Max which is similar performance to this and even at full load it's damn near silent. Overclocked my i5 to silly numbers and cooling was never the limit.
Large air coolers are so much quieter than AiO water cooling solutions and unless you have some ridiculous processor and overclock you are not going to outrun one of these behemoths.
But yeah if you are transporting your PC make sure your cooler is off or lay it flat because a kilo+ of metal pulling on 4 small screws through a plastic board is not a good combination.

This is a great cooler, for a great price. Heat added.
The only thing I would add for anyone thinking of buying, is make sure your case will fit this cooler as it is a monster. Also there is no need for a cooler this size unless you are overclocking.
That's a legend of the past might hit 10Ghz with this baby.

How much?! £50 for an air cooler is considered one of the hottest deals of the day?? Wow...how times have changed.
I'm using a 10 year old prolimatech megahalems on my 2700k at 4.4ghz and my temps don't go much over 45c.
Before you upgrade to this cpu cooler you might wanna try some new clean thermal paste on your cpu people. Best price/performance atm seems to be the thermal grizzly grease. Works an absolute treat and it's only like 5 quid.
If you have a none soldered intel cpu upgrading a relatively decent cpu cooler to this one posted will not improve your temperatures much if you are seeing 80c or more. You need to delid on those processors over a certain voltage, normally around 1.3v IIRC. We are talking about 3770k, 4770k, 4790k etc etc.
Generally speaking any intel high end overclockable cpu after the 2700k series is not soldered and suffers from high temps when overclocked.

The twin tower design should help it soak up more heat. Not necessarily he lowest temps etc.
its a decent deal. Of course single towers can be good too.

This cooler is massive but it works well and is quieter than my HDD when they're both under load Just make sure it'll fit in your case

It's a good deal, but overkill. I have a ShadowRock Slim, which is half the size and nearly half the cost and it keeps temps under 85C at 4.6GHz on a Skylake. Perfectly quiet.

I use the non pro version of this, and keeps my 4790K cool at 4.7. I was looking at this at the time, but ended up getting a deal on mine, £26! Bargain of my build. That or the £75 480 Ultra II SSD.

Combined with a sound insulated case these are exceptionally quiet. I have a bitfenix survivor case and one the non pro version (single fan) version of this cooler. Because of the thermal mass and air efficient design of the case I was able to run the fans at low rpm. Even underload it is almost inaudible. Great price, great product. Fyi, I would only buy if making a super quiet pc. If u are running big GPUs for hi res gaming it's a bit pointless as under load the GPUs will be making such noise anyway.

Cheaper, same performance, quieter and doesn't hit the ram!:
