Seems some people are starting to realise Xbox One X isn't quite as fast as they thought it would be. Forza 7 and Killer Instinct run like they do on a mid range PC with a 15 month old GTX1060.
Just buy a PC already and it won't be totally obsolete in 2 years like X1X probably will be, they play all the same games at this point

Not your first choice of brand? What's wrong with Asus?

It's not that there's anything wrong with Asus, I just prefer other brands. I'm a big MSI fan, so mostly buy their stuff.

Fair enough. I prefer the look of Asus strix cards but they're a bit pricey. I went with 2 x msi 980ti s at one point and BOTH died in less than a year. I had fit water blocks to both and that voided the warranty so I couldn't even RMA them
I now use evga cards because they let you fit water blocks. Lesson learned!

Appreciate you telling me that, good reference. Although, I never overclock my hardware or water-cool them.
I think it's just a brand perception for me to be honest, if the price is good enough I should try other brands.

If you want an Asus card pay the extra for the strix, the dual oc cooler from owning one is hot and loud

The EVGA card you linked below is a better buy over the Asus card.

There are reports that GDDR is going up in price, yet we still see prices coming down on the 1070/1080.
Must mean the 1070ti is going to disrupt the entire market.

If I hadn't already bought the MSI GTX 980 Ti, I would have possibly bought the EVGA one.

Many months when the 1070 was just born I thought it would drop in price to the advertised prices at launch and RAM would drop back down in price boy was I wrong and I am stuck with a 1060 and needing more RAM :disappointed:

Good deal but I'm waiting for the 1070 Ti in the hope that rumours of the spec are correct - over 8TFLOPS for £400.

This is the card I currently have in my Machine. Had it now since March after paying £389 for it. its Superb!
So Silent and cool its unreal. On idle its just Under 30c and running PUBG on Ultra (only 1920 x 1080 at 144Hz) its just over 50c. Cracking card and higly recommend! The only thing that lets this card down...Its White! I like an All black rig but couldnt justify the extra for a Strix.
Though I am a sucker for Asus products. With Other Brands like MSI letting me down, I dont go anywhere else

At present my GTX970 OC strix is not having any issues with anything i throw at it, even occasional 4k gaming via big picture on my 4k TV.......because bang for buck is my issue now, nothing is even coming close price wise to warrent a upgarde for my 970.
But heat for the simple fact Asus is a cracking brand, and drop these to £250 and we got a sale, but at present, i really don't require upgrading, sorry Nvidia and AMD, but you really are going to have to try harder if you want my cash. lol

I'm in a similar position. I have a MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4g which is over-clocked to run faster than a stock 980.
Recently purchased a 1080 for some subtle super-sampling effects in VR games, but couldn't help but feel like I'd wasted nearly £500! The card was faulty so it's gone back anyway.
I'll wait to see what the rumoured 1070ti has to offer and does to prices of other cards and consider purchasing again.

Yes unless you insist on 4k or going the VR route the 970 is still more than sufficient. But the 970 is a few years old now, and PC upgrades aren't always a logical choice. :imp:

You can add ultrawide and 1440 to that list of where a 970 needs an upgrade.
Opening post
For the record, not my first choice of brand but seems good currently.
