Wait til tuesday - they will announce a new watch and the prices of the last gen will go down.

Will not go down less than this anyway

Well of course the RRP of the last gen (series 2) will go down when the new model is released next week.
The question is will they go down more than the 30pct that we see here? My feeling is no. Apple doesn't do massive discounts on its products. Even old models.
I think the series 2 will be priced as £269 / £299 once the next version (series 3?) is launched later this week. This was the price point that Apple used when the series 1 became the old model this time last year.
In essence I think that this is a good deal and have voted hot.

The Nike offer is still cheaper than the Series 3 without Cellular! That one does have a barometric sensor and slighter faster innards though.

I've ordered one arriving today but I received an email from John Lewis saying they will price match. Is it worth me returning this to Nike and buying from John Lewis for the extra year warranty (and possibly paying an extra £25 for accident damage)? I've read the the previous comments about how people have had issues with the returns process so needed some advice really, thanks
QSECOFR to 04muim
11 Sep 17#60
I think the answer would be it depends how relaxed you are about being out of pocket for £278 for over a month. I would expect it to be at least 3-4 weeks until you get your refund back from Nike. For me personally it was annoying me that much I was chasing them daily and getting frustrated and their lack of an informed response.
If I was more laid back and just decided to wait it out then I would rather have the extra years warranty from JL.

11 Sep 17#63
Thanks for the advice, I think i will go with JL since they have better customer service and the extra year warranty for free. I was just looking on ebay and one of these watches just sold for £192!! Seems like the prices are dropping

If the Mobile Operator can connect the Apple SIM which will be built into the watch to the SAME phone number as on the iPhone apparently! It's going to be interesting to see who can technically do this - and at what extra cost.

Very good deal. They won't be reduced by this much next week when series 3 is announced I bet.
I did a price match request on the 42mm black/volt version with John Lewis and it was approved before that went OOS on the Nike site. Unfortunately OOS on John Lewis website now too but I have 28 days to place my order so hopefully comes back in before that expires. Worth a punt to get the extra year guarantee.

I was going to order, but I heard the new one announced on Tuesday will be stand alone, and might have a glucose sensor.
Being standalone especially will be worth it to me as it means I can finally move to Android this year.

That's interesting, as being stuck to iOS only thing making me pause, but new version will be £400+ tho right? quite a diff...hmmm

Depends on how much you want to spend! The new watch will be expensive - and I VERY much doubt if the existing watches will fall in price as far as this offer!
cambookpro to slannmage
8 Sep 17#40
There's no rumours saying it will be completely independent of the iPhone - looking likely that it will have integrated LTE, but I highly, highly doubt it will be compatible with Android or able to be used without an iPhone to set it up and administer updates, etc.
Glucose monitoring also looks unlikely, as it'd require FDA approval in the US which is a lengthy process and there's been no signs of Apple doing anything on that front. Since they're pushing more Bluetooth APIs in watchOS 4, it's much more likely that they'll be closer integration with existing or upcoming glucose Bluetooth measuring devices.
TL;DR: you'll still need an iPhone and it probably won't measure your glucose levels.
BrianM to cambookpro
9 Sep 17#57
Major leak today shows that at least SOME of the Watch 3s will have built in LTE......BUT....it is going to need Mobile Operator support as the Apple SIM built into the Watch will need to share the SAME phone number as the iPhone. Possibly at extra contract cost and with very limited operators being able to support this at first

I've ordered one now (arriving on Monday). I'll wait to see what Tuesday brings with any price drops and may just return it then. Too good a deal to miss and despite issues some people have had with refunds, then eventually you will get it processed.

I ordered 2 ,kept one which is amazing deal and really nice item.a no brainer at this price and very happy with it. I agree their refund procedure is very lengthy and rubbish but I got my refund finally this Tuesday. There is no way they refuse refund or anything like that, it's Nike a major company after all but it takes much longer than it should for them to process refunds for some reason. The deal and this price is a real bargain though.and this Apple Watch series 2 with GPS is a great product.

As others have said, the refunds procedure takes way longer than it should do. So be sure you want one.
It took them 2 weeks to refund a 38mm, and I'm still waiting a week and a half after sending a 42mm back.
My feelings after having an apple watch for a couple of weeks is that I'm not sure smart watches do anything particularly useful, apart maybe, from measuring activity.
They also look naff compared to mechanical watches.
It's a decent enough deal for something that nobody really needs.

Like everything it depends how much your invested in the ecosystem and even if you are it is still not essential. However my Apple watch gets loads of use as an iPod, I have a 250 song playlist that I modify on the iPhone and it syncs across to the watch with changes whilst both charge overnight. Combine that with payments via the watch, referencing weather easily and the movement tracking then it gets loads of use. So for £260-£350 I have found it to be a more functional and rounded device than the old iPod Classics or Mini's were, for what is similar money to the prices of those now obsolete devices.

Look at the price of a series 1 Apple Watch now and it's about this price without GPS or waterproofing - you'll be lucky to get it at a reduced price below this I reckon. The Series 3 will probably be more expensive

I never wanted a smartwatch as I really didnt like the idea of my wrist buzzing and beeping all day. But curiousity got the better of me with the last Nike deal and I got one of the 42mm watches. I am now a bit of a convert - I wear it all the time and find it useful and motivating to get up and about and the notifications are good as i don't have to open my iphone each time. The ability to go for runs with bluetooth headphones and leave your phone at home is great! Whether it's useful to the tune of £300 quid is a matter for debate but I have been pleasantly surprised by mine..
