Downloaded then deleted. Every time I set the wallpaper it changes my theme too. That wouldn't be so bad if the text wasn't black resulting in not being able to read it.

Thanks OP, like the BBC app, you can set multiple locations, but this has the satellite map and ability to report your weather. I still rate the BBC free weather app as the best, but this could be a keeper too.

Just out of curiosity, what does this do that the free Met Office app doesn't do?
Seems a bit pointless, given that nobody can touch the Met Office for accuracy (the computer and other resources they have at their disposal are absolutely unmatched by any other UK weather service) and their own app provides an hour by hour detailed forecast for every location in the country.

Actually, having now tested it, it's clearly inferior to the Met Office app both in functionality and the source of its data.

For me one of the most inaccurate weather apps going..

Maybe because it gets its data from Foreca - it's impossible to beat the Met Ofice for accuracy in the UK, no matter how 'pretty' the app is.

Decent. Download it, use it, if you don't like it, get rid. Heat added.

Done that - it's hopeless by comparison with the Met Office free app.

i use aix weather for rain fall which is very very good and transparent weather app for a rough idea

Heat.
Disagree on inaccuracy, matches my other trusted sources on several locations. Compared to most other apps, this also shows a good level of technical info beyond usual measures. No way is this "hopeless".
With weather apps the quality of the widget is critical. Nobody wants to go in and out of the app itself after initial setup. The 'complete' widget option shows enough detail (hours and days) in one screen but has 2 weaknesses-
1) it requires having to go into the app to change location. There doesn't seem to be a way to cycle through saved locations by interacting with the widget.
2) It doesn't stretch horizontally, for those who use their phone/tablet predominantly in landscape mode there will be huge wasted space on the sides.
If the widget stretched properly, I would switch to this app. I will keep it and check over time to see if they improve it. The 2 apps I use to achieve what I need:
This has good widget options, I use the daily one. It adjusts properly when rotating the device between landscape and portrait. Switching locations is a simple touch on the city name.
Unfortunately it doesn't have a more complete widget showing hourly and daily like Weather Live and can't add more than one widget so for the days forecast I use BeWeather: play.google.com/sto…her
This one isn't great, requires going in to change city, but gets the job done.
The Met Office app is nothing special. Temperature is accurate and there is a little more hourly detail on certain things like wind but precipitation is exaggerated, it doesn't rain as much as they forecast, and for me this is a critical measure to get correct. The widget is one of the worst- very basic and isn't transparent so doesn't blend with others at all.

So what's the consensus on the most accurate (including precipitation, wind direction & strength, cloud cover, temp etc) weather app that people use?
Newbold to largeruk
8 Sep 17#25
It can only be the Met Office, by a very long margin - their access to data and forecasting in the UK is unmatched by any other company. And no, I don't work for them. I just appreciate excellence.

Thanks for that. Much appreciated. Do the BBC still use Met Office data for their forecasts? I ask as, like faxmax above, I find the precipitation time and amount forecasts often inaccurate and/or over-estimated.

I have this, it is great. Maybe it depends on where you are, so test but stop going on about the Met Office app in such categoric terms, you are misleading opinion with fact. Where I am both Foreca and Weather Underground are far
more accurate. Met Office gets cloud cover very obviously wrong. Others correctly predict clear and Met Office warns black clouds when not even partly cloudy.
