I'm such a fan of the original but the sequel is possibly one of the worst sequels I've ever had the misfortune to view. Relies far too much on the love of the character and not enough focus on story. Such a shame.

It really is truly awful. The last act was one of the worst things i've ever seen!

I kind of agree about the last act, the Spud thing was awfully clunky and I dint buy much of the resolution.
However the very last shot was fantastic a classic final scene.

To be honest the original is fairly average in my opinion, the book however, 20 years ago, was excellent.

A good example of a film that should never have been made

I agree. Total cack compared to original. Probably has its merits as a standalone film though maybe.

Heat added, It's not that bad, not a patch on the original granted but overall it was ok, worth a watch once.

Thanks OP! Let's put the movie into perspective tho people, it isnt that bad...not a shade on the original but how many sequels are. I found it quite watchable with a couple of little funny bits. Nostalgic, yeah but worth it.

Only really works as a nostalgia piece for forty something's now looking back. It's a movie about getting old really.

I really enjoyed Trainspotting 2 at the cinema. If you remove your self-fulfilling negative expectations and bias, its still great fun, inventively shot and produced, and feels warm and cosy for anyone who grew up with the original.
