Allinson Strong White Bread Flour 1.5Kg £1 until 03/10/17 @ Tesco. I tend to stock up on this when it's on offer and as far as I'm aware this is the cheapest it has been for quite a long time (think the last offer it was £1.12).
Seems to be the cheapest around for a well known branded (as opposed to a store's own brand) White Bread Flour at the moment/

Stone ground bread flour damages a bread machines non stick over time, so says my Panasonic manual (yes, posh bread maker over here!)
Asda flour seems the best cost to performance ratio at 78p ish it seems better and finer ground than Allison's.
If you want the absolute best though, it's Waitrose Canadian flour. Which is also on offer right now at £1.25ish a bag.
Oh and Panasonic bread makers are the dog's. Totally different beast compared to Morphy Richards et al.

Yes, finally a White Flour strong enough to be eaten by someone like me. I'm sick and tired of benching and deadlifting crazy amounts in the gym, only to come home and consume typical, weak flour.

Allison is just a brand name. As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing special about their flour in terms of wheat variety, origin, milling or anything else. But please correct me if I'm wrong.
What IS worth paying for is a stone-ground, unbleached flour such as Bacheldre. Not that I make much se of white flour...

I agree with Joe90_guy. I've been using the Lidl white and wholemeal bread flours for some time now. I think they are about 79p for 1.5kg. I have always had a lovely loaf from them and I recommend that you give them or the Aldi ones a try. I used to use Allison flour all the time and there is no difference as far I can make out. I also use the Lidl yeast which is also cheaper than the Tesco own brand or the Allinson brand.

Aldi white bread flour is current 69p for a 1.5kg bag. It's hard to make the case that 'branded' flour is materially better than any other flour. It's flour! Aldi are also currently doing Spelt and Rye flours which is nice.

Was aware that Aldi and Lidl do their own strong bread flour but unfortunately I have no access to ether Aldi or Lidl only the Co-op or Tesco and must admit I usually just buy Tesco own brand Bread Flour rather than pay the extra for a branded kind as don't think it makes any real difference but seeing as the Allinson is the same price as the Tesco one at the moment then I may as well buy the Allinson one.
On the other hand I also know that some people prefer to use a branded product...hence the reason I mentioned it in the description :wink:
