Ok. I ordered one. Received today and it skips horribly. Not risking any more of my vinyl. So it's going back. It wants to start after the run in and skates and scratches across the vinyl. Others may not do this, but I won't risk a replacement as the quality is as to be expected. They say it was £99 - and if that were true I don't see why it shouldn't be of acceptable quality - but it appears no more than £20 worth on receipt.
For those who query the point (Mona Lisa analogy), or those saying most vinyl now come with download code, there were many records out before those that come with digital download. And huge amounts of my collection are not available anywhere for digital download (and I don't have a portable turntable). So the point of digitising vinyl is the same reason we taped them in the past - so we can listen to them on the go!
I was prepared to risk one play to digitise some of my collection, but it was a bad idea. I realise there were better options now using equipment I already own. I'd advise people to avoid and find alternatives like a USB / phono device attached to a better turntable that might already have knocking about. And if you don't have an existing turntable I'd still avoid based on what I received today.

Not 100% true. I have records with exclusive tracks that I wanna hear in the car.

With these devices you need to put a coin on the record to hold it down and stop the needle jumping.

Why would you buy a turntable which costs less than the records you'd play on it? It'd be like buying a TV which costs less than a DVD

Tracking force like a sledgehammer to your records. And converting to lossy mp3? What’s the point, most new records come with a digital download anyway

With the trend back to vinyl someone should bring out an MP3 to vinyl contraption.

Be careful with cheaper turntables on your vinyl. I don't imagine it will have the lightest cartridge. Has anyone ever used one of these though? I'm curious about the conversion quality.
