This has just been reduced by £50. Went to buy the Lenovo i5 then saw this bargain. Plenty of stock unlike the i3.

Bought this earlier today from my local Argos. Great on first impression however had to return it as one of the keys kept getting stuck. Managed to exchange it for another one at a store 30 miles away so hopefully this one will be fine (keys are ok, already checked them in store) as it's all out of stock everywhere else.

How do you find the screen? Any good? Is it bright enough? I have read that it isn't that bright.

It seems perfectly fine. I think maybe there could be a problem if you wanted to use it outdoors in the sun but I don't mind that as I don't think I'd use it outdoors. At least that's the impression I got from the reviews I read.

Is that because it is a glossy screen ?

No, it's a known issue on this laptop, the screen is apparently quote low on brightness. It's ok indoors but you might struggle outside in sunlight. This model has been replaced by this one which improves the screen and a few other things but it will also be far more expensive.... ultrabookreview.com/177…ew/

No I think it's to do with the nits (brightness level). I'm not that knowledgeable about it but apparently it only has 200 nits and e.g. the iPhone 6s has 550 nits. The higher the number the brighter the screen, and the less likely that you'll have problems using the screen in very bright environments. I really like the glossy screen.

Single channel memory is the only issue for me. Not voted .

Highly doubt you would see much difference if it was dual channel in every day use, and the graphics aren't good enough for gaming. Decent laptop for the price.

 You're right. There will be no real world difference.

You can still return that laptop you bought and buy this one. All you do is a factory reset then Bobs your uncle, Fanny's your aunt. It's really easy to return things to Argos.

So you can open, use and decide the laptop is not for you and return it for a full refund? Is that right?
Very good spec for the price, have some heat

Great price, just bought it regardless without really checking too much on specs but it ticks all all the boxes and will be idea for my daughter who needs a half decent laptop for Uni.... Also as mentioned above 8% cashback via Quidco (if it tracks OK) for Fastrack payments/collection.
Absolutely worthy of heat... thanks OP!

Looks like we've got the last one from a store about 20 miles away..... if anyone is considering buying one and you have a stock with stock then I'd strongly suggest not delaying, just buy it and if you are unhappy then Argos should still take it back under their returns policy (just double check that though)

Can't decide if something like this with a full hd screen is better than this hp currys.co.uk/gbu…tml. Ignoring the price, what would most people choose?

The Acer is much better in my opinion, I personally don't rate HP laptops and certainly not one with a rubbish screen that costs more.

This looks a good deal. Does anyone know if the fans remain quiet? I ask because my surface 3 fans run incessantly which doesn't just make a racket, it kills battery life. Would appreciate a reply from someone who owns this.

Picked up my daughters one.....
The screen is plenty bright enough for indoors but in bright sunshine it would be impossible to see, for most I would not imagine this to be a problem. The fan does randomly start and it is noisy, doesn't bother me but it may bother some. Backlit keyboard even on brightest level is still very dim Touchpad and keyboard feel fine to me. Touchscreen seems responsive. Wifi seems good. Overall build quality and finish seems good. Typically for WIndows 10, quite a few updates to do. Acer bloatware and McAfee AV needs to be removed

Yep. The fan doesn't bother me. The keyboard backlighting isn't all that amazing but for me that's not an issue either. Had to do some updates and remove crap programs but I am really extremely impressed with it otherwise. Very happy with it so far.
